Darwin House is a privately-owned luxurious residential home. A beautiful Victorian building with elegantly proportioned rooms, complimented by a purpose-built modern wing with large individual bedrooms all with en-suite bathrooms. All staff are caring, compassionate and supportive, working to build a strong rapport with residents.

Darwin House offers a comprehensive list of facilities available including chiropody, dentistry and all other health services. They also have a weekly hairdresser in a purpose-built hair salon.

Pleased with the support my 107-year-old aunt has received. She is unable to participate in activities etc but the home is always very clean, warm and very welcoming.

My mother has now been a resident at Darwin House for 5 years.
The staff are very kind, patient and considerate with my mother. Recent health problems have been conscientiously pursued and family informed regularly.
I really cannot find fault with the home. The only exception being that occasionally
recommendations/suggestions made have not always filtrated down to the staff. This I guess will be difficult with staff working shifts.

My mother has now been a resident at Darwin House for two and a half years. Throughout this time, her health condition has varied but at all times the staff have taken great care to meet her needs ensuring her welfare and well-being are of a high priority. There is always a warm, welcoming, friendly
atmosphere with no restrictions on visiting times. There three monthly review meetings are very well organised - purposeful, any agreed actions are always carried out. None of these things would be possible without quality leadership, management and everyone is to be congratulated ion the tireless work that they do.

Building work was being undertaken during my mother's respite stay.
Management controlled the situation well, to minimise disruption. A clear, friendly ethos was set by the management and without any exception, this filtered down to all the staff.
It was clear that this was the resident's home and
the friendly respectful atmosphere was outstanding.

The standard of care, the staff and the quality of the home is exceptional. The staff are like a large family and nothing is too much trouble. When we took my old aunt she was very distressed and very soon they took her under their wing and now she just loves it.

The staff are pleasant, knowledgeable and made me feel welcome. The home decoration is really nice, especially changing normal pictures to more wintery seasonal ones. The ladies and gentlemen who live here appear happy and well looked after.

The accommodation exceeded expectations, a sitting room, bedroom and bathroom. All large rooms and well-furnished. A new TV and a telephone provided and a buzzer to call assistance. Vegetarian meals and sandwiches were fine but the only thing I missed was a fruit bowl in the dining room to help yourself
and encourage your '5 a day'. The staff are excellent, kind and helpful. I liked the way the frail, elderly residents were fed and cared for sometimes with a hug and a kiss bringing smiles and happiness. My week in respite care was a new experience; I can definitely recommend.

Visiting my friend who is a resident at 'Darwin House' is always a pleasant experience. The staff are friendly, welcoming and very caring towards the residents. My friend is always treated well with kindness and dignity and her family are relieved and found such a good place for her to live. The staff
work hard to provide stimulation and activities as well as occasional trips out. I would recommend 'Darwin House' to anyone needing care.

Staff are very approachable and supportive to residents and family members. I receive regular feedback on Mum's wellbeing, for example, each time the doctor has seen her. Standards are high across all aspects of residential care. Darwin House is a very welcoming environment and a pleasant place to live.
It doesn't feel like a care home Activities are offered to stimulate residents and all staff are very caring and understanding of resident's needs. Food is excellent and varied. Residents are treated with dignity. Quite simply there is not a better place for Mum to live in her later life.

My experience on visiting Darwin House has been so very rewarding to know how a care home has been run in all aspects of caring. Having been a course tutor for home carers/wardens/social care students, I cannot praise it enough. I took a new friend today and she was so impressed with how nice the staff
were etc. This is my honest opinion. This is one of the most caring homes I have been in all over the city in the past. I am old now but my standards of care have not changed. Keep up the good work. Well done.

I think my friend (ex neighbour) is well cared for. As a friend I am unable to assess value for money but am sure safety etc is of a really high standard. Staff are always polite. Very pleased today as we are able to be sat outside in the garden.

living in Blackpool I'm unable to visit my uncle more than four times a year, yet on each occasion I have been impressed with the care given to him. He is always clean and has a good rapport with the staff who laugh and joke with him. On every visit I've been offered refreshment (very welcome after
a long journey) and I've noticed how clean the rooms are, no lingering smells anywhere. Sometimes I phone the home and if possible, I speak with my uncle, as the staff are happy to help him come to the phone. This June I was delighted to see their rapid response when an emergency buzzer sounded and I know my uncle is in safe hands.

As my husband and I were going on holiday for the whole of February we decided, with my mother, that she would spend this time at Darwin House. From our initial enquiry and onwards the staff were so helpful. The transition for mum to Darwin House was smooth and they made her feel so very welcome. She
was very happy during her stay and we were able to enjoy our holiday in the knowledge that she was being cared for well. A great team and many thanks to them all.
