Staff are very friendly and helpful. Mother looked after well. Good food, clean and room a little tired but ok.
I went to visit a friend's mum in Darwin House about four times in the last two months and I was extremely impressed but the services and the kindness of the staff. I went unannounced each time and always had a great welcome. My friend's mum is now really well settled, she went on an organised visit, has a beautiful and spacious room and was allowed to take her dog with her. The atmosphere in the house is very pleasant and the staff (male and female) is very welcoming and flexible. I was very impressed by it all.
Everyone was so helpful and I had the help requested at times. My husband would have wished to be able to smoke outside whenever requested.
My Mum has recently been discharged from the hospital after a ten-week stay. She suffers from anxiety and could not cope when she returned home, her GP supported respite and contacted Darwin House as a matter of urgency, luckily they had a respite room available immediately. From the moment we arrived with Mum I felt at ease. The staff were so caring and made mums stay wonderful. We decided to keep her in there for a further week where she felt she was so much better. We recently visited again and had and had lunch there for Mum's 87th birthday, they made me feel so welcome. Really recommend Darwin House.
My mother has now been in Darwin House for 4 years and we are happy that it is the best possible place for her to be.
Immediately you walk through the door, you are met by lovely staff with a friendly word and smile. There is a lovely freshness about the place and the rooms are clean and tidy and there are always flowers being displayed. It is small and intimate and the residents always seem so happy. I have visited the other care homes in the past but Darwin House is a wonderful example to follow. I hope if and when I have to be looked after in my old age, Darwin House or somewhere of a similar standard would be on my radar.
I have found the care that my father receives to be first class. All the staff are caring and look after him extremely well. The whole place is spotlessly clean and well looked after.
My sister has been a resident at Darwin House a little less than a year. She has settled in very well and appreciates that living alone was not practical.
Pleased with the support my 107-year-old aunt has received. She is unable to participate in activities etc but the home is always very clean, warm and very welcoming.
The staff are very kind, patient and considerate with my mother. Recent health problems have been conscientiously pursued and family informed regularly.
I really cannot find fault with the home. The only exception being that occasionally recommendations/suggestions made have not always filtrated down to the staff. This I guess will be difficult with staff working shifts.
Otherwise very pleased.
My mother has now been a resident at Darwin House for two and a half years. Throughout this time, her health condition has varied but at all times the staff have taken great care to meet her needs ensuring her welfare and well-being are of a high priority. There is always a warm, welcoming, friendly atmosphere with no restrictions on visiting times. There three monthly review meetings are very well organised - purposeful, any agreed actions are always carried out. None of these things would be possible without quality leadership, management and everyone is to be congratulated ion the tireless work that they do.
Management controlled the situation well, to minimise disruption. A clear, friendly ethos was set by the management and without any exception, this filtered down to all the staff.
It was clear that this was the resident's home and the friendly respectful atmosphere was outstanding.
The accommodation is good, the food is very good.
The staff communicate well with the family.
The standard of care, the staff and the quality of the home is exceptional. The staff are like a large family and nothing is too much trouble. When we took my old aunt she was very distressed and very soon they took her under their wing and now she just loves it.
My aunt has been at Darwin House for about 1 month. She has settled in fantastically thanks to the love and care of the wonderful staff. The food is excellent and the whole place could not be better. Darwin House is a very happy place to be and to visit.
Managers are readily available and team leaders are quick to meet any particular needs that are identified.
Overall I draw great comfort from the environment created and understanding shown.
The staff are pleasant, knowledgeable and made me feel welcome. The home decoration is really nice, especially changing normal pictures to more wintery seasonal ones. The ladies and gentlemen who live here appear happy and well looked after.
Darwin House provides a safe and very comfortable home for my mother. She is treated with both respect and love. Her personal needs are carefully assessed and it is wonderful to see how the staff respond to them. The managers are keen to provide extra activities and to make the home as attractive as possible. The staff are unfailingly helpful and kind.
The accommodation exceeded expectations, a sitting room, bedroom and bathroom. All large rooms and well-furnished. A new TV and a telephone provided and a buzzer to call assistance. Vegetarian meals and sandwiches were fine but the only thing I missed was a fruit bowl in the dining room to help yourself and encourage your '5 a day'. The staff are excellent, kind and helpful. I liked the way the frail, elderly residents were fed and cared for sometimes with a hug and a kiss bringing smiles and happiness. My week in respite care was a new experience; I can definitely recommend.
Very pleasant stay, friendly, cheerful happy staff. Always helpful and considerate.
