Glen Rosa provides residential, dementia and short-stay care for up to 47 residents in a historic former manor house in Ilkley, West Yorkshire.

A much-loved part of the local community since 1947, Glen Rosa combines period charm with modern comfort. Set just a short walk from Ilkley town centre and close to Betty’s Tea Rooms, the home offers strong community ties and stunning views of Ilkley Moor.

Bedrooms are all en-suite, with two welcoming households and a newer dementia household, Kitwood House, designed around the Tom Kitwood approach. Residents enjoy spacious lounges, a quiet library, a bistro café, and a bright sunroom linked to the garden.

The secure sensory garden, front veranda and patio offer spaces to relax, socialise or enjoy events like the popular summer fair. A historic barn is being transformed into an events hub to add even more communal space.

Dining includes two roast dinners a week, homemade puddings, and themed food nights. A resident-led approach ensures meals reflect personal tastes and preferences.

Both my mother and father are residents at Glen Rosa. I am impressed with the level of care given to my parents. Glen Rosa is a calm and secure environment staffed by kind care workers who take a personal interest in their residents, it's clearly not just a job. I have always felt welcome and receive

Two years in residence. The carers have been diligent, bonding and sharing friendship with the family as well as the residents. The staff are respectful and encouraging. Medical needs are observed and due attention is given.

My mother has been a resident at Glen Rosa for the past three years. She suffers severely from dementia and requires 24-hour care. She is looked after extremely well and we, as a family, are very satisfied with the level of care provided by the staff at Glen Rosa. She now follows her diabetic diet correctly
and her physical health, despite her frailty with age (she will be 90-year-old in February 2017) has improved in the last three years. The staff are meticulous in her medical welfare, with hospital and GP/nurse visits arranged when needed. Glen Rosa was recommended by a residents family when I was seeking a place for mother and I would unhesitatingly do the same if asked.

Grandma has lived at Glen Rosa for 3 and a half years. The care she receives is outstanding. I visit her weekly and whenever I call in, the place is always spotlessly clean and Grandma is being cared for extremely well. Every single member of staff I have met have been amazing, always hard-working,
patient, kind and positive, always maintaining a pleasant and happy atmosphere for the residents. Nothing seems to be too much trouble for them - Truly amazing people. Thank you so much for all that you do for Grandma.

Leaving my home and coming into a care home was a bit traumatic and I didn't feel really prepared for it. I have been here 6 months now and I am beginning to feel it is home now. The kindness and helpfulness of staff is so good. It all helps to accept a different way of living. I try to look forward
and not backwards. Life is still good and help is always at hand. I think the loss of independence is what I have to get over, but all the advantages make up for that.

Regular visits: reception staff are always pleasant and welcoming/ the outer door is always locked creating a secure environment, but the lock is released promptly allowing access once identity is established. Staff will make several conversations, the premises are in excellent decorative older. The
atmosphere is relaxed and friendly - residents personal needs/wishes are considered as far as practicable. My mother has been hospitalised for 4 days and staff have sent good wishes, asked regularly about progress and gave her really warm welcome when she returned.

My mother has been resident in Kitwood, the dementia wing of Glen Rosa since 2013. They have supported my mother and our family through her changing personality and problems. The staff always make time to talk to us and listen to our concerns and questions.

My husband has been at the care home for 6 months now. He was admitted urgently so we had no knowledge of the home or what to expect. However we have not regretted the decision. The care staff have worked really hard to improve some of the worst aspects of his degenerative neurological condition and
have been kind and caring throughout. it has been a steep learning curve for me but both management and staff have been have been very sympathetic and approachable. Things like being able to visit whenever I want and the fact that there is a resident moggie make all the difference.

My mother is a resident in Kitwood House, the dementia unit at Glen Rosa, she has lived there for 18 months, is very settled and tells me that she is happy. She is treated with courtesy, kindness and good humour by the well trained, excellent care staff who are always willing to spend time with her.
The environment is stimulating and welcoming and there is easy access to a very pleasant, secure garden. Well planned activities are provided several times a week and there is often a musical focus which my mother particularly enjoys. The home is well run and managed, bedrooms are a good size with en-suite facilities and families are encouraged to create familiar surroundings for their relatives.

When I had to put my beloved husband in a home because I simply couldn't cope any more at home (he has vascular dementia and alzheimer's) I was heartbroken..
It is awful to say your husband can't come home any more.
Glen Rosa, and especially the Kitwood Wing staff have helped me so much, putting
up with my crying all over them etc. and they have been kindness itself to my husband. He is as contented as I could have hoped, and I'm very grateful.
