Glen Rosa provides residential, dementia and short-stay care for up to 47 residents in a historic former manor house in Ilkley, West Yorkshire.

A much-loved part of the local community since 1947, Glen Rosa combines period charm with modern comfort. Set just a short walk from Ilkley town centre and close to Betty’s Tea Rooms, the home offers strong community ties and stunning views of Ilkley Moor.

Bedrooms are all en-suite, with two welcoming households and a newer dementia household, Kitwood House, designed around the Tom Kitwood approach. Residents enjoy spacious lounges, a quiet library, a bistro café, and a bright sunroom linked to the garden.

The secure sensory garden, front veranda and patio offer spaces to relax, socialise or enjoy events like the popular summer fair. A historic barn is being transformed into an events hub to add even more communal space.

Dining includes two roast dinners a week, homemade puddings, and themed food nights. A resident-led approach ensures meals reflect personal tastes and preferences.

My mother moved to Kitwood House, Glen Rosa from another care home and was given a warm and friendly welcome by the staff. This helped her to settle in quickly.


I have been impressed by the care my mother has received at Glen Rosa (personal care and medical attention) and feel that the choice of

My overall view, with my wife as a resident of Glen Rosa care home. We both agree that she is happy and contented in her own room, with well-equipped furniture. She has only herself to blame for not joining her fellow residents and the available activities in the lounge and dining room areas, but as
they say, we have to accept that is her own choice. The staff are friendly and devoted to their work, which is very warming. Thank the good Lord for their calling towards caring for the elderly and infirm. Thank you MHA from Roman Catholic relative.

Mum has been at Glen Rosa for four and a half years. In that time she has been in both Glen Rosa and Kitwood. She is now 99 years old and very frail, both physically and mentally. However, all aspects of her care are still excellent. She is cared for physically but also, all the staff show such care
and respect for her.

The home feels a happy and welcoming place. The staff are friendly, calm and professional. The activities provided are varied and appropriate.
Mum has dementia but is not yet so confused that she needs to be in the dementia unit. I feel that the staff are aware of her need for company and above all
her need to access the outdoors, whenever possible.
Bothof these are more readily available in the non-dementia unit and supervised outdoor time is facilitated when possible.

The catering staff produced all the food for my mother-in-law's 100th birthday. The service we received was excellent. Glen Rosa provided a beautiful and delicious two-tier cake. We had a large and varied selection of sandwiches. Presented very attractively and some scrumptious cheesecake served in
sundae dishes. The room where we had the party is most attractive with a wonderful view and a mural wall creating a lovely backcloth for the photographs.

We're impressed by the excellent care and genuine compassion shown to our Mum at Glen Rosa. It is competently led by a highly efficient, professional management team with decades of experience. Expectations of all members of staff are high and the more senior employees are ideal role models for the
younger care staff, eager to develop their skills.


This characterful home is in a wonderful setting with beautiful gardens. It's very well maintained inside and out by an industrious, skilful maintenance man. Cleaners, domestic staff, chefs, care assistants, etc. are competent at their jobs and engage well with residents, reassuring them where necessary. The food is wonderful and there's always a varied menu. Activities are led by a thoroughly enthusiastic entertainments coordinator and are very varied, aiming to meet the needs of all residents.


Overall, the employees of Glen Rosa and Kitwood house are utterly devoted, kind, compassionate people who give 100% commitment to the residents.

Glen Rosa is a welcoming, well-staffed home. It is spacious very clean and well furnished, set in lovely grounds.
My sister is well looked after and is allowed the independence to decide to participate in the organised activities or remain in her room. Recent medical problems have been dealt with as
soon as required by members of staff and the local GP practice.
Relatives are encouraged to participate in activities and to support events when required.

I have only been here three months. I was received by very friendly staff. I am fortunate in having a good sized room which is virtually a bed-sit. I am fairly independent and treated as such. There is a visiting chiropodist and a hairdresser who visits two days a week. I receive a daily newspaper.

I have been visiting two residents regularly for the past year, very impressed with the care and caring atmosphere of home. My father was in a similar home in the area where the service was chaotic and at times uncaring. Now I wished we had chosen Glen Rosa. I know care homes can change according to
the management - Glen Rosa seems to be in a very good place with a variety of activities and residents do not sit in a chair all the time with the television blaring on.

I found the staff at Kitwood House very welcoming. It was good to know that I could visit at any time during the day.
All the teams seem genuinely caring and dedicated with what they do and nothing is too much trouble.
The two bus trips that were arranged had to be cancelled - it would be good to
have more of those opportunities.

Glen Rosa offers a safe and welcoming home for my mother. The standard of care is very good. There are plenty of activities and the food is good. Mother has been distressed by one other challenging resident who has come into her room unasked. She misses a hot breakfast because she is unable to make
it downstairs due to her restricted mobility.
