Glen Rosa provides residential, dementia and short-stay care for up to 47 residents in a historic former manor house in Ilkley, West Yorkshire.

A much-loved part of the local community since 1947, Glen Rosa combines period charm with modern comfort. Set just a short walk from Ilkley town centre and close to Betty’s Tea Rooms, the home offers strong community ties and stunning views of Ilkley Moor.

Bedrooms are all en-suite, with two welcoming households and a newer dementia household, Kitwood House, designed around the Tom Kitwood approach. Residents enjoy spacious lounges, a quiet library, a bistro café, and a bright sunroom linked to the garden.

The secure sensory garden, front veranda and patio offer spaces to relax, socialise or enjoy events like the popular summer fair. A historic barn is being transformed into an events hub to add even more communal space.

Dining includes two roast dinners a week, homemade puddings, and themed food nights. A resident-led approach ensures meals reflect personal tastes and preferences.

Activities include music therapy, poetry club, “Love to Move,” animal visits, and use of a recreated vintage train carriage. Famileo newsletters and frequent community performances help residents stay engaged and connected.

Mum has been a resident for over a year. She always says how happy she is and that the staff are all really good. Mum has also told my mother-in-law (by phone) what a lovely place Glen Rosa is. Mum is appreciative of all the staff and activities. The staff are all approachable and prioritise the needs
and preferences of the residents. Communication to relatives is also excellent and prompt, whether by phone or email. This is especially helpful as I don't live nearby.

I moved my mother to Glen Rosa following a series of hospital stays and the realisation that she was unable to cope living independently with worsening mobility and memory. We initially reserved a room for respite care which allowed time for my mum to adjust. The staff couldn't have been more accommodating
to both my mum and the rest of our family. My mum settled very quickly, which is a testament to the care and attention she has received. Since living at Glen Rosa, her health has stabilised. I feel the staff appreciate her needs and are quick to respond and inform me if anything happens. As a family, we have very much been encouraged to treat Glen Rosa as a home from home with flexible visiting, staying for meals if we wish and joining in activities and events with Mum. I would recommend Glen Rosa to family and friends with similar needs.

Mum moved into Glen Rosa in the autumn of 2019. The staff are fabulous, kind and respectful. They have supported me in letting go of caring for Mum in her own home. Nothing is too much trouble, and they always have time for a friendly chat. I couldn't imagine anywhere else could provide such care to
both the residents and their families.

My mother has been very happily settled at Glen Rosa and frequently tells us what a good place it is. The staff are excellent, both in terms of their care, compassion and professionalism, and manage to make Glen Rosa feel a community of residents, rather than a care home.

My step-mother has lived at Kitwood, Glen Rosa for 6 months. The kind staff helped her to make the necessary adjustment when she moved from her previous residential home where she had lived for 8 years. Although suffering from dementia, her own career as a nurse helped her to appreciate and respect

We are so pleased with Glen Rosa for my mother-in-law. She has repeatedly told us the staff are so kind and the food is good! Her room is very clean, and when she arrived, the carpet and walls were her favourite colour. She has had some quite server health issues, and these have been dealt with promptly
and thoroughly. The activities co-ordinator is good, and the carers attention to detail is very good. The care staff are physically demonstrative of their care too.

I can't speak more highly of MHA Glen Rosa. Staff are the most important factor in a care home and the staff at Glen Rosa are a fabulous team. They know and show genuine affection for and interest in the residents. We live far from Ilkley so I appreciate the contact they maintain with us. They always
make me feel welcome into the home and put on activities and outing that reflect their knowledge of the residents. The kitchen and maintenance staff are friendly and go out of their to help. Just a lovely place to see my uncle in.

I have been visiting a friend in Glen Rosa regularly, at least once per week, since February 2018 when she first moved from her home. to reside there. We had been good friends for many years, both professionally and personally. Our spouses were also included until they died a year or two ago.
Glen
Rosa staff were and are always welcoming to me as a friendly visitor and allowed me to take meals with my friend and the other residents. I attend some of the social activities of Glen Rosa - concerts and church services (Methodist) regularly.

Visited a short term very sick resident three days in a row. He was very well cared for and nursed beyond our expectations. All the staff are very friendly and made us feel welcome. Lounges and tea/coffee making facilities on every floor so could meet with the resident as an independent private group.

A warm friendly welcome when we brought our friend from a less good establishment to Glen Rosa. The month he has been at Glen Rosa has transformed him from a depressed, failing individual to someone, though still frail, now is more at peace with himself, with excellent care and attention including people

My mother moved into Glen Rosa in February 2017 following a bout of pneumonia which left her feeling weak and unwell. Since arriving at Glen Rosa her general health has improved tremendously. She is happy and settled in her new home and finds the care offered by the staff to be excellent. All members
of staff are kind, friendly and helpful and the atmosphere in the home is relaxed and peaceful. Our family are very pleased that she is so well and happy at Glen Rosa.
