The team in Kitwood, Glen Rosa, are exceptionally kind and caring towards my aunt. They understand her as an individual and appreciate her personality, drivers and triggers. The atmosphere is respectful and calm, with stimulation provided through regular activities and interactions with staff. Having the opportunity to spend time outside in the garden, when the weather allows, feels very important. My aunt's room is kept very clean, her clothes are regularly laundered and meal times offer alternatives to suit different appetites. I find that communication is generally really good, and have peace of mind that any issues will be highlighted and acted upon.

My mum has lived at Glen Rosa for three years. She continues to enjoy life there and has made many friends both residents and carers. A lot of the carers have been there since her arrival so know her well. There are activities provided for the residents to join in with should they wish to and my mum is always the one getting up to dance! I would recommend Glen Rosa to anyone seeking care for an elderly relative, it has a warm and homely feel to it. The food is also excellent.

My mother passed away in Glen Rosa after nearly six years in residence with excellent care to the very end. The kindness and understanding shown to both my mother and myself, made her loss more bearable as all the staff cared for us like one big family.

My friend has been a resident at Glen Rosa for 18 months and has settled happily. I have always found the staff to be friendly, professional and helpful and feel very happy that my friend is safe and well cared for. There are a lot of varied activities and trips out and Glen Rosa has a lovely homely atmosphere with beautiful views of the garden and moors beyond. Meals are prepared freshly, on-site and menus vary. I would be extremely happy to recommend Glen Rosa.

My parents moved into Glen Rosa a couple of months ago after much research, several viewings and a lot of soul-searching. The first thing I noticed on viewing Glen Rosa was how attentive and kind the staff are. My opinion hasn't changed apart from the fact that my respect for the staff has grown.
The rooms are pleasant and kept lovely and clean. The only downside I have is a personal one and I would prefer the lounge seating to be in small groups round coffee tables as opposed to round the edge of the room.

That being said, my parents seem to have settled in faster than I expected and are well cared for and happy. What more can I ask?

Glen Rosa is an excellent residential care home with a very nice and homely feel to it and the care staff have a respectful approach to residents. Excellent entertainment organised by the activity staff member with a nice balance of musical performances, games, exercises and memory enhancement activities. Music therapy for residents with dementia is good. Staff are approachable and helpful and is responding to the family.

My father was a resident for only six months before he died. He had a wonderful experience surrounded by caring, compassionate staff. I cannot stress highly enough what a family Glen Rosa is. From the first contact with the administration manager, I felt that nothing was too much trouble for the team. They were all welcoming and inclusive. My dad had so much fun and enjoyment in his final months. The end-of-life care he received was very special, and I will forever be grateful that I found this wonderful home for him. I cannot recommend it enough.

My mother moved into Glen Rosa over 4 years ago; was mostly located in Kitwood because of her dementia and she died very recently aged 96. I am writing this review because I feel the need to publically express my sincere thanks to the wonderful people who have looked after her. I was able to visit regularly and witnessed first-hand the care and attention that my mother and all residents receive. One of the main objectives is to ensure that residents are stimulated and there are always activities arranged to keep residents occupied and entertained. Music therapy is something that was very beneficial for my mother. The staff are very caring and diligent as they have to be for people in later life. When matters arise causing concern, for example, health issues, the staff react very positively and keep relatives well informed. I spent a long time looking for a care home for my mother and have never had any regrets about the choice of Glen Rosa.

Glen Rosa has looked after my mother for two years. She has dementia, and Glen Rosa staff have always treated her with great dignity and respect, even when some of her worries and problems have been demanding for them. They are full of humanity, patience and decency.
There are lots of well-organised activities, put together by an outstanding organiser with a great gift for knowing what residents will like. There are games of all kinds, a journal residents can share with relatives, music therapy and other rewarding activities.
Glen Rosa coped easily with my mother having her own telephone installed in her room and having a newspaper delivered daily, which must have been extra trouble for the office staff.

The night staff are diligent and caring and will ring me the next morning if there has been a health problem, even a small thing. And the day staff are excellent too.

Glen Rosa is a well-run, friendly home where my mother feels safe which is important when suffering from Alzheimer's. The home is clean and well-kept, it doesn't have that whiff that a lot of homes do when you first go in. Without exception, the staff are polite and friendly and nothing is ever too much trouble. The food looks and smells good and it was no problem catering for Mum who is vegetarian. For those that can partake there are regular activities with visits for entertainment - even a small donkey recently called in! Many of the rooms are currently being refurbished which meant having to change Mum into a different room - we were consulted about this to make sure we were happy for it to happen. Regular visits from a hairdresser and other personal care practitioners are available when needed.

My mum has been very happy at Glen Rosa. Although she has dementia, the staff treat her with dignity and respect and I cannot thank them enough. The home itself is spotless. There is a genuine family atmosphere in the home and the activities are excellent. I am kept well informed of any medical issues. I visit my mum every week and am always made welcome. My family and I wish to thank Glen Rosa and especially the dedicated carers of Kitwood House for their outstanding care of Mum over the 7 years she was in their care until she passed away peacefully last week surrounded by her wonderful Kitwood family who she loved so much. During these 7 years, I honestly cannot complain about anything and indeed attribute my mum living to the grand old age of 101 to her being so happy and content there. I truly cannot find the words to either thank or praise them all enough for their care, love, compassion and dedication shown to Mum. I would also like to say a special thank you for the extra love and kindness shown to Mum and our family over her last few days when they supported us in such a dignified way. I couldn’t have wished for Mum's last days to have been anywhere else. There are too many staff members who worked closely with Mum to mention individually but you know who you are. I shall be eternally grateful. May God Bless you all.

From my first enquiry, through admission and now permanent residency Mum and our family have been well advised and supported. The Administration Manager has provided clear information verbally, by email and through brochures and advised when sadly admissions were not possible. The care team in Kitwood House have been genuinely concerned that Mum settled in, coped with initial isolation and we are pleased that she seems settled and able to socialise with other residents.

I am very grateful to everyone at Glen Rosa for not only keeping Dad safe during this very difficult year but the care for him as an individual, such as helping him to use his new mobile phone. He has had letters posted for him and WhatsApp video links set up to help us stay in touch and it has been good to see for myself that he looks well. I have been impressed with the wide range of activities available, even during the lockdown, but with no pressure to take part. Heartfelt thanks to everyone involved.

My dad is in Glen Rosa who has come in for respite, and despite not being able to visit him, I feel very much at peace that he is well nurtured and cared for.
I have nothing but praise for the staff who are always upbeat and positive when I call often for updates on dad.
It is so hard not being able to visit during this pandemic, but I feel dad is in the best and safest place with excellent care, and the carers having regular COVID tests as well as the residents.

Thank you to all the those caring and looking after dad and for being the support he needs when I and my family can’t be there.

Reply from Sue Garvey, Home Manager at Glen Rosa

Thank you for the positive comments, and nice to hear from our relatives who are only with us for a short period as well as those who have been with us for some time. Dad is a pleasure and is settling well in the home. It’s good to hear you relaxed and confident he is receiving the best care here at Glen Rosa and I will pass that onto the staff.
