27 Church Street, Heckmondwike WF16 0AX
Providing top quality Residential & Dementia care in a friendly atmosphere is the primary objective of Garlands Residential Care Home, 27 Church Street, Heckmondwike. In the picturesque setting of the former St James’s Church vicarage, the Grade II listed building provides the ideal environment to achieve this aim. Helping to create this atmosphere is the fact that Garlands is a family owned and run concern. A residential home for more than 20 years, Garlands was taken over by present owners David and Gillian Bolland in May 2007 and daughter Linzi is the registered manager, with more than 16 years’ experience in the care sector. Creating a home from home for residents is an essential part of the Garlands ethos. To achieve this person-centred care plans are put in place to ensure that residents live at Garlands as they would at home and to make it even more like home pets are welcomed and visitors are welcome at any time. The home also provides respite care & day care.
At present Garlands is home to 20 residents with some double rooms which means that married couples can remain together when it becomes too difficult to remain in their own home or if people want to share for company.
A wide range of services and activities are available to residents. These include:
Weekly hairdressing, private chiropodist, a monthly church service, entertainment, motivation classes and many more.
Transfers from other residential homes can be arranged and there are no top up fees.
All staff are trained to NVQ level two and above.
Garlands recently underwent an infection control audit and emerged with an excellent result of 93 per cent.
