Carr Croft had potential, but since the long standing manager left it has gone downhill rapidly. I removed my loved one from this care home as I had concerns for their safety and general wellbeing. I have raised my concerns with the business owner, council, safeguarding and CQC. I have done a...
Carr Croft had potential, but since the long standing manager left it has gone downhill rapidly. I removed my loved one from this care home as I had concerns for their safety and general wellbeing. I have raised my concerns with the business owner, council, safeguarding and CQC. I have done a lengthy review with pictures on another review website.
Main issues are:
Building: is very worn and in need of proper maintenance, looks grotty
Staffing: numbers seem low, staff do not appear to be adequately trained to meet the needs of residents.
Safety: I raised adult safeguarding concerns regarding lack of proper monitoring or updated risk assessments.
Food: is poor quality, the same and mainly processed and beige.
Enrichment: little for residents to do. They sit in same spot doing very little every day.
Laundry: no dedicated laundry staff so carers are split between caring duties and laundry.
Main issues are:

I do not anything good to say about this home im just glad my mother has been sent to a new home where she is thriving the staff are not helpful or caring at all they do not have a mini bus and there are on activities at all.

We are sorry to hear that your experience of Carr Croft did not meet your expectations. We do, however, feel it is important to clarify that Carr Croft has never advertised or represented itself as having its own minibus, so this was not a service that we had promised to provide.
We also have an activities programme in place for our residents, with activities and opportunities designed to encourage social interaction, stimulation and participation. We regularly review our activities to ensure they reflect the interests and abilities of the people living at the home.
We take all feedback seriously and use it to continually review and improve the service we provide. While we appreciate that experiences can differ, we remain committed to providing our residents with safe, respectful and person-centred care.

My 97 year old great uncle has been at Carr Croft since the beginning of June 2026, having spent months in hospital and rehab after breaking his hip.
The staff have been wonderful in keeping the family informed as to how Leslie is doing. We feel very calm now that he is in their welcoming, empathetic and supportive care. We are called when our uncle needs supplies and due to the fact that we live quite far away, we are able to arrange an delivery to the care home. The staff are incredibly good with our uncle and knowing this puts our hearts and minds at ease.

Been to see my nan today and long as she's happy I'm happy I'm chuffed how far she has come as she has been threw a traumatic few months I'm glad she's settling in and getting on with everyone. Staff nice, place nice and area its clean and tidy only down side I would say is the place needs abit of a brighten up, the place needs a spray or plug ins or air as when I walked in I do agree with a couple of reviews about strong smell of urine and to also be abit more warm and welcoming even offer drinks to the customers who come to see there relatives. Overall id give the place 8/10 for the price per week I do think it is a tiny bit steep.

I would like to thank the Carr Croft team of carers for their total dedication to their task of looking after the residents. My 57 year old special needs nephew has been a resident for over five years so I can provide this review to cover a long period. All the other residents are over 70 years old, some in their 90's.
I have witnessed the care team working during ideal times and extremely difficult times, especially during the height of the Covid epidemic. Throughout the 2 - 3 year Covid period, the care home functioned fully due to the expert guidance of the manager and her devoted team.

I am really happy that my nephew is residing at Carr Croft, he is so happy there.
