I would like to thank all the staff at Victoria House Care Home for the care they showed to my mum throughout her time with them. My mum passed away on the 22nd of December and will be sadly missed. She had been a resident for several years. Mum had mixed dementia and was confined to a wheelchair. Myself and especially my father were made very welcome when visiting Mum. My father has said that he would be happy to become a resident there himself if and when the time comes for him to be in a home which shows how happy he was with the care shown to his wife.

Many thanks again to all the staff, from management through to the cleaners, they were all great.

Our Ward was discharged to Victoria House Care Home from the hospital as he was bed-blocking at the hospital. I understand Victoria House is a private nursing home with a Local Authority agreement to take the aforementioned bed-blocking patient under this agreement. Must admit we (including our Ward) were dismayed at this decision!
Sadly his mental and physical demeanor deteriorated substantially during his stay at Victoria House.

Visiting protocol remained restrictive as per Covid despite government lifting. Told to leave after 45 minutes despite his distress at the time. The phone never answered, and numerous answerphone messages were left, no response from the manager. Some staff were seen to be caring and welcoming, sadly this was not the general norm. The milieu was clean, with no permeating odour detected. I appreciate the difficulties of keeping track of clothing etc. However, what is absolutely appalling is the loss of extremely expensive hearing aids and the lack of communication and compensation.

Thank you for your review. We are a Residential/EMI Care Home without nursing and do accept clients for a short period of time, where they are reviewed by the clinical teams in the community before moving on to their next destination. This is decided by the social work teams and their families. We...

Mum has settled in really well. The staff here are so friendly and welcoming, from a smile and a friendly chat on arrival for visiting Mum, to the lady who strokes Mums hair when she gets upset or agitated to calm her down. Keep up the good work everyone. It's great to see all the activities on social media too.

Everything is lovely but we are in lockdown and I don't see beyond the home's pod, which is amazing and I know not all homes have this. So this is what I know, so far - my friend is happy.

My Mum has been a resident for several years now. She has dementia and is seriously disabled. Since she arrived she has been treated with kindness and respect by the staff. Her room is kept clean and tidy and the staff are patient and caring, never off-hand or dismissive, neither are they patronising to these elderly and vulnerable people. The attitude springs from the top and shows in all aspects. The cleaners, cooks, and carers are all positive and friendly, they don’t last long there if they aren’t. Management respond positively and decisively if things are not right. I have no hesitation in recommending Victoria House for those wishing to find a caring residential home for their vulnerable loved ones.

I have been very pleased with the care given to my mother who has vascular dementia and has severe arthritis. The staff have been consistently helpful and friendly. Any special requests have been implemented quickly. Medical care has always been provided promptly when requested and I have been kept informed of any issues that may have arisen. Overall very happy.

Victoria House has been dads home for 2 years. When he arrived from hospital we honestly didn't think he would recover from his illness. Wow! You should see him now. Full of smiles, 1 stone heavier.
Dad and I have had to overcome some negative issues due to his illness. A learning curve for us both.
I can honestly say without the support and care from all the staff especially the owner, manager, and senior staff we wouldn't have been able to make the family memories we have.
Dad continues to enjoy his life, he's is happy with all the support he receives. He also feels the food is very good and is well fed.
The cleanliness around the home is good too. Laundry is not as quick as he would like but they do their best to accommodate his needs.

As a daughter, I appreciate how well I am included in some of the decision-making with dads care and also will be forever grateful for going the extra mile by allowing and providing a decorated room to celebrate birthdays and Xmas for us all.
