My mum went to live at Ashgrove nearly a year ago, after quite traumatic circumstances. All the staff, especially two of them were just wonderful. They gave us limitless kindness, understanding and support and that continues every day whenever we need it.
Because of the staff, Ashgrove House, in my
opinion, stands head and shoulders above other care homes. It really does feel like a home from home. It has such a warm and friendly atmosphere, there is always laughter and chatter and it seems like one big happy family. My mum has flourished since she moved there and I feel confident that she has the best quality of life possible.
It's also reassuring to know that the staff have so much experience, knowledge and endless patience. It is very apparent how much the staff care about each of the residents and they go above and beyond to make their lives as happy and comfortable as possible. The manager is an inspiration. I can only imagine how challenging her role must be.

Our dad was here for just under 2 years. He received the best and most personal care unfortunately that we couldn't give. The staff always knew who we were and talked to us lots and had good communication when doctors came. When dad passed they were compassionate and asked how we were, whereas they
looked after him 24 hours a day and could see they were upset but professional at all times. As a family, we wouldn't have wanted dad anywhere else and we are grateful for the care of all the carers and everyone who worked there. What an amazing job they did looking after him. We are very grateful and a massive thank you to everyone. Love from all.

Inspection ratings
We rate most services according to how safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led they are, using four levels:
Outstanding - the service is performing exceptionally well.
Good - the service is performing well and meeting our expectations.
Requires improvement - the service isn't performing as well as it should and we have told the service how it must improve.
Inadequate - the service is performing badly and we've taken enforcement action against the provider of the service.
No rating/under appeal/rating suspended - there are some services which we can't rate, while some might be under appeal from the provider. Suspended ratings are being reviewed by us and will be published soon.
Ticks and crosses
We don't rate every type of service. For services we haven't rated we use ticks and crosses to show whether we've asked them to take further action or taken enforcement action against them.
There's no need for the service to take further action. If this service has not had a CQC inspection since it registered with us, our judgement may be based on our assessment of declarations and evidence supplied by the service.
The service must make improvements.
At least one standard in this area was not being met when we inspected the service and we have taken enforcement action.
