I visit my mum every month and each time I visit I am reassured that she is being cared for. She looks well and happy and is known to staff I encounter who seem genuinely fond of her. The home is a little dated and the internal courtyards could do with a refresh, but the staff are warm and friendly
which is the most important factor. We are always notified promptly if Mum has any issues.

The staff at The Limes are amazing! My mum was so reluctant to go into a care home but at nearly 100 years old it was the right time. Within a couple of weeks, she is so settled and happy. She always tells me how lovely all the staff are and how good the food is. We cannot thank them enough for the
care they give to my mum. They helped to make her 100th birthday very special.

The Limes is the best place on earth. I could not praise them enough. They care, look after and love my mother with 5-star care. My mother has been for many years and without them she would not be here today, I cannot praise them enough. All staff and seniors are caring, helpful and all very smart.
The home is warm, very clean, and very safe, so happy she is there. My mum has been there since 2017, and have great respect for the senior carer.

I cannot praise the manager and her team enough, from the first time I spoke to the manager on the phone through to the end of my dad's life, this team have been amazing not only in the care for Dad but in the support they gave myself, Mum and our extended family.
The manager has the most wonderful
approach, nothing is too much trouble and the care of Dad was always at the forefront. We had a thorough assessment of Dad's needs in his own home and could quickly get Dad the support he needed, initially, for respite care but eventually for his full-time care needs. Dad enjoyed his time and spoke fondly of the team that provided his care.
The manager's leadership skills should also be noted, she is a compassionate leader wanting to do the best for her residents and staff. If you have any staff awards I would highly recommend the manager be put forward for one.
Reply from Jackie Brook, Care Relationships at The LimesThank you for your heartfelt review of The Limes Care Home. We're honoured to have cared for your dad. Your praise for our manager and care team means the world to us.
We are pleased to know that the thorough assessment of your dad's needs in his own home facilitated a smooth transition to The Limes, ensuring he received the appropriate support. It brings us great joy to hear that your dad enjoyed his time with us and spoke fondly of the care team. Creating a positive and comfortable environment for our residents is a top priority and it's wonderful to see that reflected in your dad's experience. We're grateful for your positive experience and your suggestion for staff awards is noted and appreciated.

Mum has been in The Limes for two years now. She has dementia, so it had become unsafe for her to remain at home.
She seems happy there and is well looked after. She is always smartly dressed when I visit.
Staff are very good at involving her in activities such as painting, craft work, and balloon
games. Mum really enjoys these activities and they provide good stimulation for her.
Staff alert us to any medical issues and call the doctor or ambulance as required.
Dietary needs are well catered for. Mum can choke easily so staff give her special thickened liquids to prevent this.
I am happy with my choice of The Limes for Mum. Dad has recently become a resident too, so it is lovely that they are together in a place where they are happy, safe, and well cared for.

Friendly and efficient management and staff. The home and the individual rooms appear to be kept clean and tidy at all times and the meals appear to be of a good standard. All the staff appear to be of a friendly and cheerful disposition and the home gives the impression of being a friendly place to

The experience I have had with my relative is, the carers are patient and calm when dealing with a relative who struggles to understand instructions. The home is always clean, tidy and welcoming. I am always able to talk to staff if I have any concerns. It would be good to have more activities for the
residents.

Our mum is well looked after and very content. She is clean and well dressed when we visit and always looks as though her hair is brushed and styled. As visitors, we are greeted and feel at home there with her. It is a great place which feels like her home and not a sterile hospital. We are always informed
about her, from changes of medication, her property that she has damaged by accident to any falls, ect. She is well monitored and we are very happy with The Limes Care Home.

We were relieved that the staff at The Limes were willing to provide end-of-life care for our dad so that he did not have to die in the hospital. My mum, who has Alzheimer's, has been a resident of The Limes for approximately 10 months. During this time frame, every member of staff I have had contact with either by telephone or face to face has not only been professional, but also friendly, helpful and caring. When visiting, I observe staff interactions
with other residents, and although staff are busy, they not only have time for residents, they are also compassionate, patient, caring and treat residents with the utmost respect. The staff go above and beyond, for example, due to their knowledge of Mum and tenacity, achieving a correct diagnosis of a broken hip, which the hospital had missed. I am always kept in the loop and feel reassured if Mum needs anything or there are any concerns I will be contacted. Mum constantly tells me how 'lovely' the staff are. She is safe, stimulated, happy and treated by staff like a family member. Words cannot express my appreciation for all the staff do for her and am forever grateful.

I consider The Limes to be a good, well-managed care home with standards that meet expectations. However, I do feel that residents should be bathed/showered more often than once a week, as this can adversely affect their wellbeing, appearance and self-respect, especially so for females who like their
hair to look and feel clean. Health monitoring and remedial actions could be better. These concerns may result from staff shortages as a result of Brexit and the covid pandemic but must be addressed now.
Reply from Paul Millar, Marketing Manager at The LimesMany thanks for taking the time to review our home. All feedback is welcomed and allows us to continually develop our service. Recruitment within the Social Care Industry is a challenge currently and is something we are working diligently on to ensure that our high standards are constantly met. Rest assured that all staffing requirements are continually met in relation to the needs of the home.
Your comments are greatly appreciated and I will, of course, pass them on to Tamyn and The Limes colleagues.

The home is understaffed - drastically. Since non-vaccinated staff were allowed back, there have been non-stop cases of covid. So it is clear the level of service is not as it should be. But I have no doubt the charges will go up again shortly.
Reply from Paul Millar, Marketing Manager at The LimesMany thanks for taking the time to review our home. All feedback is welcomed and allows us to continually develop our service. In response to the points raised - the staffing levels at the home are always relevant and based upon the number of residents in the home and are monitored daily and adjusted accordingly in order that everyone is cared for appropriately and safely. I understand that this was recently conveyed in a discussion you had with the Home Manager. All home colleagues are still regularly Covid tested, vaccinated or not and rest assured we are doing everything possible to keep our residents protected. I will of course pass on your comments to the Home Manager who would welcome the opportunity to discuss further any concerns you may have.

Three years ago, my mother was visited and discreetly assessed whilst in hospital by the (then) manager. She reinforced a community worker's judgement that the home would be a good choice for Mum and her health/security issues. As power of attorney, I have visited ten other homes. Space, cleanliness
and good food are noticeable. Covid has been handled well by a consistent staff, including excellent leading carers, who always respond on the phone or in person, specifically with an update on Mum. Meeting the new manager, my wife and I came away with renewed confidence.

I would like to say a huge thank you to the carers and management for looking after my Dad. From the very start, they showed empathy to our situation and always made time to listen and provide advice and support on how to cope. My Dad went into The Limes at the time of Covid so we didn't properly experience
the home on a day to day basis. Which is such a shame but it was clear from speaking to all carers that each and every one are kind, caring and clearly passionate about their jobs. Most have been there over 10 years, which is a testament to the management. We did a huge amount of research on Care Homes that specialise in Alzheimer's and in my eyes, this is where the Limes stands out. They totally understand the complex needs of Alzheimer's, they understand the disease and that each person is different and that is what they did with my Dad, they treated him as an individual and went above and beyond to support his needs. We will be forever grateful. Thank you.

I was in the unfortunate position where I had to find some emergency respite care for my grandad when my grandma was in the hospital. I knew it was going to be a miracle to find somewhere such short notice, but when I phoned up The Limes, they put my mind at ease that they would be able to meet his
care needs. The quick-acting from the management and the staff meant that he was able to be there in a couple of hours! The care that he received when he was there was beyond exceptional, and staff always put my mind at ease knowing that he was safe. When he came home after a couple of weeks, he would often comment on how good 'the girls' were and how well they looked after him. Thank you all so much.

Choosing a home for Mum was made extremely difficult by the limitations placed on visiting during the pandemic. My sister and I had visited other homes, but as soon as we drove into the car park of The Limes, we immediately felt this was the right place for Mum. We were unable to look around, but having
spoken to the manager, we were reassured and Mum became a resident in October 2020. Whenever we ring the home, the staff are pleasant, helpful and supportive. They proactively ring us if there are any issues with Mum and keep us informed of her care. The staff that I have met on Skype calls and since visits have been allowed have always been cheerful, caring of Mum, full of warmth and aware of her needs. All the staff give the impression that they love the work they do, and that gives the home a happy and welcoming feel. I feel that Mum is treated as an individual, and I can not thank the home enough for all they do for her and the family.

During the worst health crisis of our lifetimes and well beyond, the management and staff at The Limes have gone repeatedly above and beyond anything which could be reasonably asked. Words, fail me quite frankly, and it's a challenge to express my gratitude for the care, compassion and understanding
shown to my aged mother. The challenges faced every minute of every day have been monumental. There have been recent positive Covid cases at The Limes. It's nothing short of miraculous that the staff have kept it at bay for so long. They are a magnificent team and deserve so much credit. It's been extremely difficult to ensure visiting in the hiatus between lockdowns, but every effort has been made to ensure that residents are able to see their loved ones whenever this has been possible. If my mother has any well being or medical issues, the staff make contact to inform me of what's transpired. I'm humbled by their skills and genuine compassion. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.648)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.648) out of 10 for The Limes is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 25 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 24 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.648 for The Limes is calculated as follows: ( (211 Excellents x 5) + (70 Goods x 4) + (16 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 298 Ratings = 4.648
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Limes is based on 24 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 97 registered maximum number of service users is 19.4, which has been reached with 24 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
