When mum arrived 3 years ago, we soon saw our mum as we knew her back. The fun, loving, mischevious woman she was came back out. She would join in all days out and activities and help with other residents.

Mum had so much love for the home and the staff. Ladysmith became my mums home and the staff are family.

Mum and dad came into Ladysmith from hospital together neither walking, Ladysmith embraced them and us as a family. They got mum walking and encouraged her independence while she could, they fought for her when GP's and nurses did not meet their needs. Mum has many ongoing health issues and dad dementia of the worst kind. Without Ladysmith I would have broken long ago. The passing of both my parents sad but made easier because of their care angels there, they are remarkable.

Both of our parents were residents in Ladysmith Care Home and we could not have asked for better Care for them in the last year of their lives. The Staff are exemplary, no matter how tired and under pressure they are, it is their residents who come first and they treat them with such love, patience and compassion it is as if the residents are their own family members. As a family we were constantly in, visiting, and we were always welcomed and made to feel part of the caring community there. The Staff looked after us just as they looked after Dad & Mum. They worked with us to ensure that Mum & Dad's needs were met, going above and beyond including taking Dad to Mum's room so that they could spend quality time together in the last weeks of Dad's life. And in the last weeks of Mum's life they were so patient and compassionate with her that it made the inevitable so much easier for us to cope with. We have experienced other Care Homes and none come close to Ladysmith.

My father has been in Ladysmith Care for 3 years until passing away in September 2024. During this period myself and family have said many times how glad we were that we had chosen Ladysmith Care for our lovely dad. The love, care and attention to his needs were amazing. Dad loved the staff and they cared deeply for him. As a family visiting a few times a week, we too became part of the care home and thought the world of all the staff and management.

We can't thank the Ladysmith Family enough, everyone from the catering team, cleaning team, laundry ladies, carers and management helped to make my father's stay with them a positive experience. We had visited many homes before choosing Ladysmith but the minute one of the staff opened the door to us we knew that was Dad's new home! The whole team sent out so much love and care they treated Dad as a member of their family. They often had to give us a hug too! They have a wealth of experience and knowledge in caring for the elderly which often comes with challenges. We often watched the staff discreetly caring for the residents and the care and love that they gave them brought a tear to our eyes! They don't just care for the residents they care for the whole family from the hugs, cups of tea and keeping us fed when we need it!

Reply from Carol Woodliffe, Home Manager at Ladysmith Care Home

Thank you for your very thoughtful and kind review. It was a privilege to care for your dad, we always strive to provide the very best care that we can for both residents and their families. Receiving such positive feedback gives every staff member a sense of achievement. Thinking of you all at this sad time.

The Ladysmith Care Home provides a caring, homely and safe environment for our elderly mother.
Thanks to the staff and their professional, supportive and friendly approach to care, Mum now calls this her home.
Without a doubt, the care and support she receives have extended her lifespan and allowed her to retain her dignity in safety and comfort.

The staff always make time to talk to relatives and update them on how Mum is, this is important for those who live a distance away.

To all the staff of Ladysmith Care Home, yes it's me. Well, respite, what can I say really. The care and attention given to me whilst I was with you was unbelievable, the finest, best care anybody could have asked for. I went in as a total wreck with both legs damaged and walked out a new man. Yes, walked out. Now that says something. The staff were supreme in every way, from the manager herself to the carers, cleaners, and chef, absolutely fantastic staff. Something I will never forget, my stay with you, I made you laugh, I made you cry but all in fun. Once again, a huge big thank you for everything you did for me, my wife and I say thank you. And I will visit you once I am up and walking around properly. Best wishes.

Our mam was in the care home for 14 months.
Ladysmith Care Home is such a relaxed, friendly place.
The carers go above and beyond, they are all so lovely, Mam loved them all and she was treated like she was one of the family by every one of them.
Mam always said how good the food was and it always smelt good at meal times.

We will be forever grateful to all the staff for the loving, devoted care the staff gave to our mam.

Cannot thank this nursing home enough, very compassionate and caring towards my needs for our family member and they were happy to listen to what we were looking for.

The staff are all very caring, nothing is too much trouble, the food is very good, staff make a point of getting to know each service member, their likes and dislikes. As a family, we were made very welcome upon stepping into the building. We left with happy tears knowing Dad was going to bed looked after and safer. Best staff ever-best family home.

From the moment we were greeted, the staff at this home have been amazing both to myself and my husband, from the reception to the cleaners, management, carers and tea ladies and gentlemen. They made an awful experience (my husband going into care) a lot more bearable. The sympathy and understanding are outstanding. I go every day whenever I like and feel like I am family. I never ever go home worrying about my husband's care as I know he is very well looked after. I couldn't have chosen a better home which was recommended by a close friend whose mum has been in there a while.

My family fought so hard to keep mum safe and happy in her home. We were so sad to lose this battle and I was very worried as to what "care homes" meant. I have been actually delighted by every aspect of her care at Ladysmith (apart from locking us out during lockdown but I do understand the reasons). Thank you for all you do for my mum and your support of our family members when we visit. Keep us the excellent work.

Mum had been suffering from Alzheimer's/dementia and went into Ladysmith Care Home. She was there for four and a half years until sadly passing away in December 2022. The staff have been wonderful and the care they give faultless.

If we had any questions they were always there to help. As a family, we believe she was really happy and contented in their care.
