The Grove Care Home is a well-known and highly respected care home for older people set in peaceful surroundings in the pretty village of Waltham, just outside Grimsby.

With excellent staff and a homely environment, residents can enjoy the comforts of home whilst the having the assurance that the highly trained care team are on hand to help with any needs.

Residents enjoy spacious flats and rooms fitted to a high standard. They can personalise their flats with their own pictures and possessions. The Grove has been carefully thought out for all residents to maintain a high level of independence, from walk-in showers for ease of use, to kitchenettes in bedrooms to entertain families and friends privately.

The newly refurbished lounge and conservatory lead out onto a spacious patio enabling residents to relax and enjoy views of the country park. Residents can also now enjoy a pamper day in the newly added Elegance Hair Salon, or a hot drink in The Coffee Club Café. The home enjoys close ties with the local community and volunteers from the village often help out with events and activities enabling residents to maintain friendships, hobbies and interests. Residents enjoy a lively program of activities from gardening to crafts, painting and singing.

Carers are very kind and attentive - Mum is treated as an individual. I am kept informed. The activities programme is especially good for stimulating and socialising residents. I find the reception and admin ladies extremely helpful also.

I am very happy that Mum is well cared for at The Grove. Staff are kind and treat her with respect and good humour. Activities are varied and plentiful and I am grateful for the chiropody and hairdressing services provided.
Mum always seems to enjoy the food and is given a good selection of choice.
The location of The Grove is beautiful, overlooking Grove Park, of which Mum's room has a lovely view.
Of late, Mum has been taken on several nice outings to garden centres and tea rooms and the staff have taken excellent care of her.
I am very impressed with the new manageress of The Grove who is very caring and promises to improve things even more.

Friendly, caring staff. Bells aren't always answered as promptly as the resident would like.
The resident finds she is left sitting on the toilet whilst the staff member pops elsewhere. Not always the case but not always comfortable or dignified. Staff seemed overloaded with work.
Feel activities
have been on a back burner because of the activities member being off sick.
Not always explained to the resident if to happen. Sometimes the room is used for meetings, etc. even though it is known the room is to be used for an activity.
Mum has also been left sitting on the side of the bed whilst being dressed and the carer has then for some reason left the room. In both this and the toilet situation Mum feels quite vulnerable. Should she fall she'd have no means of contacting anyone. I am also concerned about it obviously. I must emphasise that apart from things mentioned we are happy.

I have lived at The Grove for ten years. When I first came I had limiting food preferences and did not join in any of the activities offered. I existed.
Today I enjoy (look forward to) the excellent meals provided, have a good appetite and involve myself in almost all the activities on offer.
My favourite
is Gardening Club. Craft, the choir, visiting entertainers and reminiscence 'joggers', knit and natter, bingo, all feature in my life now.
At school, I was told my voice was flat, but here I am, 70 years later, adding volume, if not sweetness, to our choir!
I write a monthly newsletter for The Grove, which residents and old friends tell me they enjoy. Care here is first class - staff show compassion and encouragement. I love my flat and have been able to put my own stamp on it.

My mum was in The Grove for approx 18 months, her final week was 'end of life' care. The home and staff over the final week was first class in every department, from manager to care staff.
In general, the home was good for my mum, the staff were always professional and caring and for me, that was the
main feature. The lows over the period were staff shortages/turnover. The home looks tired in places and dated and a shame for such a beautiful building. The new manager has all the right ideas to improve the home if given the backing and acts immediately to resolve issues.

My friend has recently been in The Grove for respite care while her family were away and I have visited several times while she has been there. Being of a certain age and having several slightly older friends who are/have been in care homes, I have visited a few over the years and have always dreaded
my days in one of those dingy buildings. The Grove, though, has changed my perception and made me slightly less fearful of it. My friend had a beautiful room with its own kitchen and bathroom and plenty of space. The home is surrounded by beautiful parkland with squirrels and birds and the staff are lovely. All very friendly and helpful and couldn't do enough for my friend. If ever the time comes, I have told my family they have to choose the Grove.

My mother has spent twelve days at The Grove for respite while I went on holiday. Picked her up today and she had had a lovely time, made lots of new friends and joined in all of the activities.
The staff make the care home feel like 'home' all are so friendly and caring, which creates a lovely atmosphere
about the place.
I am so pleased to have found such a lovely care home for my mum.

A well-run care home providing a high standard of service for elderly residents with individual care needs.
Rooms all of which have en-suite facilities and a separate dining room which incorporates a snack bar. The dedicated staff at his care home have created an exceptionally friendly and caring

My father had to go into hospital for three weeks he has a bad chest infection. When discharged he could not return to The Grove as they had a virus. We had to find another home for respite until he could return. I will not name the other home but all I can say that the care was terrible and my father
ended back in hospital. The Grove compared to the other home is excellent. The care, the support, the staff are all excellent, nothing is too much trouble. They also support us the family. They have met all my father's needs, cared, dignity and diet. I would like to say the manager has been a great help and support in many ways. Thank you all.

It is a very difficult time when you have to pick a care home for a loved when they have to go in one, l visited 11 twice and in the end, The Grove came out on top, they have cared for my father since last July, and the care is excellent. It has a very friendly family feel to it, the staff are very
caring, the care my father gets is excellent, and it is peace of mind for me and all the family knowing he is safe and very well looked after. You will be made very welcome if you choose to come and look around The Grove, by the manager or lady in front of house. Myself and my family can't thank everyone that works at The Grove enough for the care that my Dad gets.

My mother came to this home after the home which was in the place that she had lived in her whole life, closed down. So it was a big move for her. She settled really well and with myself and partner living around the corner, we were able to visit every day. The staff encouraged my mum to eat her meals
in the dining room and she made friends very quickly. But sadly her condition deteriorated very quickly and the staff were brilliant and very caring. We would very much recommend The Grove. The manager was also very helpful and couldn't do enough for us. Mum died after 4 weeks there, but we were so pleased she moved here.

I like the privacy The Grove Care Home provides - once your door is closed there is no noise heard from neighbouring flats. The carers are particularly good in caring for those who are bewildered or have dementia - comforting, reassuring and showing support. They are magnificent in helping those who
cannot feed themselves ensuring they get a good meal and keeping them calm and happy.


I think we are lucky in having good carers. I have been shown nothing but kindness and respect across the board, even after death the care goes on- a Welsh lady who passed away recently left looking presentable surrounded with daffodils.

My mother has resided at The Grove for nearly three years and she has loved it never once saying that she wished she hadn't come. The home is like a first class hotel. Mum loves her flat and calls it home. The care is superb and the staff are always friendly and willing to help. Nothing is too much
to ask! I chose this home by word of mouth from a satisfied relative. What a relief to find such a caring, pleasant and happy home. I know that mum is so well looked after and is safe and secure. I highly recommend it to all.

My mother has been in the care of The Grove in Grimsby for the period of 1 year up to mother recently passing away due to dementia. I cannot thank the team, staff and management enough. Very supportive and caring, very professional on dealing with all aspects that occur and required dealing with in
the last weeks of my mother's life. The palliative/end of life care was outstanding and I thank all concerned. I would recommend The Grove to family and friends as they made mother's last year of life a "happy one" being altogether rather than on her own.

My mother is very happy here and I feel she gets good care and help which is updated as her needs change. The activities are very good and will no doubt get better still with the appointment of a new activities coordinator. The staff treat the residents with compassion and dignity.
