I cannot recommend Edmund House Care Home in Ashby, Scunthorpe, highly enough. After searching tirelessly for the right care home and feeling let down by others, I was instantly reassured by the warm and welcoming environment here. The staff are absolutely fantastic, going above and beyond to provide
exceptional care and ensure residents feel respected and at home.

The care and environment are truly second to none, creating a place where residents can thrive. The activities offered are fantastic, and tailored to engage and bring joy to everyone involved. It's clear how happy and content the residents are, and the smiles on their faces say it all. If you're seeking a care home that delivers outstanding care in a vibrant and supportive community, Edmund House is the perfect choice. It has been a huge relief and a joy to find such a wonderful place for my loved one. This is a magical care home full of happiness and care. Thank you to all the staff who have welcomed my mum with open arms.

I moved mum to Edmund House in September 2024 after her previous care home went downhill. If only I'd known the difference it would make to her I would have done it months earlier! She has got her spark back and has settled so well there. The endless activities that they put on help to stimulate her
and I truly feel that I am getting a little bit of my mum back...thank you to all the staff for their care and compassion.

Mum became a resident in December 2024. I have nothing but praise for the staff management environment of Edmond House. All residents are treated as individuals with dignity and tenderness mum thrives on the hugs and attention from the carers. I have not seen her smile so much for a long time. All activities
of daily living are of a high standard. Relative activities and exclusions are an added bonus. The dining room is always well presented and nutrition needs are met. Thank you to all involved in mum's care.
Reply from Rosie Smith, Customer Advisor at Edmund House Care HomeThank you for taking the time to write such a lovely review for the staff at Edmund House. My aunt has been a resident for the past 6 months. Although she was anxious and unsettled at first, the friendly and caring nature of all the staff, soon put her at ease. The residents are allowed freedom of movement as if they were in their 'own' home. There is a communal lounge for gatherings, as
well as private areas for some quiet recreation and calm. All residents are encouraged to take part in the many activities the 'entertainment' team organise. Led by the Manager the activities can be fun, creative, and quizzical - all aimed at stimulating the residents; it's great to see so many smiles on their faces. As a visitor, I am always made welcome. There is always someone around at the Reception area to make entering and leaving the building a smooth process, whilst also being secure. My aunt enjoys the food on offer at meal times, so much that her clothes are getting tighter...! All the carers/staff have been amazing with my aunt and truly care about the very important job that they do!

Our 101-year-old Mother recently passed peacefully away at Edmund House Care Home after spending a year in their excellent care. During that time, Mum was treated with dignity, compassion and loving care. My sister and I were impressed with the high standards set by the home. It is spotlessly clean
and the decor is fresh and modern. The staff couldn't do enough to accommodate Mum's dietary needs and there was always an endless supply of tea and cake! Everyone was professional and diligent but also cheery and warm. We were made to feel welcome when we visited (usually daily) and Mum and our family were treated to a wonderful private birthday tea party on her 101st birthday. When Mum was nearing the end, the senior staff took time to explain to us what was happening, allowing us to be with her as she passed. We will not forget the kindness and compassion of all of the staff at Edmund House - Mum was comfortable throughout and we were looked after wonderfully too.

My father went for respite care after being in hospital. From the moment he arrived, he felt looked after and reassured. I can genuinely say the staff were wonderful with him, nothing was too much trouble. They managed to get him independent again and more like his normal self. They treated him like
an adult that needed care and were not patronizing at any time. Many thanks to everyone.

My father was in this home for 12 months, during that time he was given the wrong insulin (another resident's). When we told the home the senior person for that side was not interested, other than to say it was a one-off (a recurring theme).
From July to the point he left, he was forced to use a bedpan
and we were given numerous reasons for this, now at the point of him starting to being made to use the bedpan he came off his legs and was no longer mobile and was being hoisted into a chair during the day. We were told he would get a toilet sling in July, this never materialised and when we inquired why, were told a few different reasons; 1. The toilet sling is taking a long time to come but we were not to worry because another resident upstairs was waiting also, 2. It was not BUPA policy to use a toilet sling, 3. It was unsafe to put him on either the commode or toilet so he had to use a bedpan.
There were a lot more problems.
We were lied to by the floor senior on multiple occasions.

This was my first experience of a care home and that of my
mum. She had never even spent a night in hospital in her 95 years and I wondered how she would cope following a fall.
She spent 3 weeks at Edmund House and the experience was wonderful for her. All the staff were so caring and she was stimulated
both by the staff and the company. She made new friends and was very torn when it was time to return home.
Her experience was positive in every way and she improved her mobility enormously whilst there.
We would both like to thank all the staff for their dignified caring and all the laughs along the way.
I couldn’t recommend Edmund House highly enough.

Edmund House is a fantastic example of how the elderly should be looked after! The home is clean and well equipped. The residents' rooms are modern, clean and spacious and have everything required in them. The staff are all extremely experienced, friendly and professional; they work very hard together,
like one big family, to provide help and assistance whenever requested and are instrumental in the residents always being happy! My mother has several complex medical issues and is currently residing there, the staff made sure that they had all of the required specialist equipment required to care for her without compromise. The team make sure everyday she is comfortable and happy, they provide endless amounts of reassurance for her and are assisting my mum to continue her final months with dignity and respect. Mum is very happy there and feels welcome and loved, this is a great comfort and is appreciated by all my family. We really could not ask for more. Thank you all so much.

Edmund House Care Home is always well presented, clean and visually stimulating. Staff are welcoming, approachable and helpful. Dad is extremely well supported with his physical, mental and emotional wellbeing, while being encouraged to maintain his independence where possible. Staff respond quickly
to resolve matters if Dad expresses any concern. There is a good range of activities and the choice to engage in what he wishes to. Staff continue to introduce Dad to new residents and experiences to extend his socialisation. He likes having lunch in the restaurant and to share his dining experience with other residents, where staff support with choice and catering to diabetic diets. I feel Dad is safe and well looked after, while the home provides a personal experience within a community setting. The staff and management have responded very quickly when Dad has been ill and alerted relevant professionals to gain a timely optimum health care outcome.

I take my partner to Edmund House regularly to take part in their open days, coffee mornings and community activities. It allows a little respite and my partner is able to socialise with residents, families and staff. The atmosphere is always very welcoming, the staff are happy to help and nothing seems

The residents are always happy and there are always fun activities going on from farm animals in the garden, sing-alongs or drumming, coffee mornings, craft activities and much more. My mum was an emergency admission for respite care on a bank holiday weekend. The home was very welcoming and couldn't do enough to reassure and settle her in. Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2017

Since starting my career with the Social Services as a Care Manager from 2002 to 2017, my dream was to make a difference to peoples lives in their last years, months, weeks and days of their life.

My dream came true in 2017 when I became the Home Manager of Edmund House. I can now make that difference and fulfil that dream.

Job Title: Financial Administrator Joined: 2024

I began my career in the hair and beauty industry, where I developed strong client-facing and communication skills. I later moved into the health and social care sector, supporting individuals with learning disabilities in both psychological and domiciliary settings. Since 2012, I have worked mainly within the elderly care sector, focusing on administration and finance. I feel my communication skills and understanding of finance allow me to support both colleagues and residents effectively.

I enjoy working in a care environment where residents come first and where we strive to create a homely, safe setting. I live locally and value spending my free time helping my family and enjoying time with my granddaughters.

I have worked for Bupa since 2018 and progressed to Unit Manager in November 2019. I have worked in care since I was 15 and have extensive experience in mental health and dementia care. I’ve previously worked in care homes across Scunthorpe and surrounding areas, within the NHS as a healthcare assistant, and in the community supporting people to remain in their own homes for as long as possible.

I love working in care because it allows me to support people with dignity, respect and choice at the most important time of their lives.

I’m a mum of three children aged 24, 22 and 5, and also have a 3-year-old grandson, so life is busy. When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with my youngest child, and in the evenings I like to relax with a good book.

I previously worked at a local hospice as a care assistant, progressing to advanced care assistant and later to complementary therapist. During this time, I trained as a qualified Reiki practitioner and reflexologist, and also gained training in mindfulness, wellbeing, hand and foot massage, meditation and relaxation.

Looking after people is a privilege. It’s not just about supporting the individual, but also being there for their family and friends during difficult times. I love working in care services because of the people — both my colleagues and those we care for.

I’m married and have a daughter and a son, four grandsons and two granddaughters. Although my dad passed away 10 years ago, my mum is still a huge part of my life, which I feel very grateful for.

My hobbies include NFL American football, and my husband and I attend London games when our teams are playing in the UK. I enjoy spending time with family and friends and going on holiday — Greece is my favourite destination.

I have worked in the catering sector since the age of 19, starting as a prep chef and progressing to Head Chef. Before working in catering, I was a domiciliary carer, which I really enjoyed. Both roles give me a sense of fulfilment and allow me to make a positive difference.

My favourite part of working in care is making residents happy, speaking with them about food, and adapting meals to meet their individual needs.

I’m a mum of two and a wife. Food is my passion, and bringing happiness and enjoyment through food is my goal.

I have been working for Bupa for just over 4 years. Before working here, I was a full time stay at home mum as I took a few years break from my career until my children were older.

I enjoy working in the care home sector as every day is different. I love meeting new people as you get an insight into everyone’s life. The most rewarding aspect is having an impact on people’s lives with small acts of kindness & building meaningful relationships with residents as well as families.

I was born in London and moved to Scunthorpe in 2003. I completed my Level 2 in childcare, to then go on to help running my dad’s business. I am an extremely family orientated person. My 3 children, parents & siblings are a big part of my life. I believe in making each day count, building memories as we go along! I pride myself in setting a good example for my children. I regularly go on walks to help keep fit which also helps keep a clear mind and I often visit different cities/towns to eat out. My biggest passion is to travel and see the world, I love experiencing different cultures and meeting people from different backgrounds. Every year I try to go on holiday abroad with the family. My husband is my biggest supporter who always encourages me to go further and achieve more!
