My mum is ninety-nine and it was a difficult and emotional decision to look for a care home. I visited several homes and studied all the CQC reports. I could not find the ideal home for Mum. However, immediately when I entered Edmund House I felt the warmth and care I was looking for. It certainly had
the X factor! All the staff are friendly, caring and truly amazing. The safety is excellent and Mum is cared for with dignity, respect, compassion and love. The food is plentiful and tasty. The activities are fabulous and motivate and stimulate Mum. Thank you to everyone at this wonderful kind, caring home.

I feel that Edmund House has given my mum a new lease of life, we know that she is very well looked after. The staff are such amazing people, nothing is ever too much, and they are friendly and helpful.
Having mum in Edmund House has helped us to get on with life and be able to take mum out and visit
her without having to worry, as we know she is looked after. I would recommend Edmund House to anyone who has a loved one that needs help and company.

Mum has Dementia but they help her day to day to deal with this, and are always interacting with the residents. From meals to the Activities which I find are a great help, The Manager is so helpful and comes up with so many ideas to keep all the residents entertained.

Mum is always clean and so are her things, nothing is ever too much trouble.

My husband has now been living in Edmund House for ten months, I couldn't wish for a nicer place for him. The staff are brilliant he's well looked after and there is always something arranged to keep residents occupied (bongo drums, singing, skittles, painting, dancing to name a few). All are encouraged
to take part if they so wish. It's like one big happy family. Visitors are warmly welcomed at any time of the day. I cannot praise the staff enough. Thank you, everyone.

My mum is in Edmund House Care Home and is well looked after. The staff are so caring towards her. Mum’s always clean and tidy and well looked after. Always activities going on, morning and afternoon, if they want to join in. Plenty of food and drinks all the time which always looks good to eat. Mum’s
not been too well. I couldn’t of wished for anyone better to look after her than the lovely people in Edmund House

We were very nervous on arrival, but as soon as we entered, we were made to feel so welcome. Shown around and taken to the room that was basic, but we have since added personal items. Given refreshments and then time on our own to adapt. I spent four hours with my sister that day until she was settled
in. The other ladies also welcomed my sister. Everywhere is spotless and homely, there is a tuck shop, cafe, and a hairdresser comes weekly. We are encouraged to visit and can go out, always letting them know, of course. There are activities and entertainment most days, and the staff join in. The meals are to die for; there is a choice at every mealtime and are well presented, and everything is homemade. In between meals, they come around with drinks and snacks, never time to get hungry. Now lastly, I come to the staff - what a team! From the cleaners, laundry, carers and managers, they are so professional, caring and kind, always keeping relatives informed. God bless every one of them. She settled in quickly.
Reply from Alison Horridge, Customer Advisor on behalf of the team at Edmund House Care HomeThank you for your kind words. Mum has been in Edmund House for three years. Dad was here previously. She is very well cared for by caring and dedicated staff who treat her with kindness and respect. Staff keep us well informed and answer all our questions without hesitation. The Covid experience was not pleasant for anyone but during
this time our confidence in her care increased. Staff are happy to deal with any concerns we may have. The staff are the most important aspect of her care - we continue to be vigilant but have to say very happy with her care and treatment. Thank you staff.

My mum has been here since December 2021, very settled and well cared for. Carers keep me very well informed on Mum's wellbeing. Mum has just celebrated her 98th birthday and the home put on a lovely spread for us and we had a lovely afternoon with my mum and sister who travelled up from Kent for it.
Nothing is too much trouble for any of the members of staff. Many thanks.

My mother entered Edmund House in July 2021, direct from hospital; in the interim period, before I could take in her own clothing, the staff had clothed her and made sure she was comfortable. This was during the Covid pandemic and as such, I was unable to visit. However, when restrictions were lifted,
I was not disappointed. The staff, amenities, bedrooms (all with en-suite wet rooms) were spotless. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff - you asked, they delivered. A daily entertainment program is provided and all special occasions - personal or otherwise are well catered for. My mother was resident there for 11 months until June 2022, when she passed away in hospital. The care and devotion the staff give their residents is second to none - total professionals, each and every one. Needless to say, "if" I find myself needing to relocate to a Care Home, Edmund House will always be my first choice, each time, every time.

My dad died in July in Edmund House, having lived there for three years. I cannot thank the staff at all levels for their care of him and support to his family. Throughout the trying times and Covid-19, we were so pleased to see him in photos and videos on Facebook, enjoying himself with a variety of
activities. When we did get to visit, we knew he had been well looked after. The staff of Edmund House really care about their residents, not just care for them. I will never forget their kindness and compassion shown to my dad.

I am very happy to have my father stay at Edmund House. It gives me peace of mind knowing he is cared for with professionalism, compassion and kindness - all very important. His needs are considered and acted upon. He is given food that he likes and requests. There are activities that he can join when
he is able to. The carers have some fun with him too, and it is fabulous that time is taken for this to help his mental health. We very much appreciate what this home and the carers do for Dad.

My relative, who has dementia, has resided at Edmund House for a few years, had to leave an alternative home as this service could no longer meet her needs. Since the move, both my relatives mental and physical health has greatly improved, and when I visit, she always looks very well. The staff conduct
themselves professionally, and nothing is too much trouble for both my relative and I when I visit or contact the home.
The home has a fantastic feel about it, and the interactions I have witnessed between the staff and the residents are always positive. Having visited during meal times, I can confirm the meals always look and smell very nice indeed, and my relative always leaves a clean plate. The kitchen staff cater for my relative's personal preferences at mealtimes, and there is always a choice of meals along with readily available snacks between meals, which are provided upon request.
The staff treat every resident as an individual, and I highly recommend this service!

Mother-in-law has been in for over a year and had been extremely well cared for. Last month she had a short spell in hospital after the staff noticed she was unwell. This care home is one of the best places I have had the pleasure of visiting. The staff that work there from the manager down to the cleaners are all so helpful and friendly. They know each resident inside out. The environment is beautiful and clean, a home from home for all the residents to enjoy
in those last years of life. From walking in through the front door, the place feels homely and staff make it all stress-free for anyone who enters by being so helpful. These carers provide excellent individualized care to each resident and listen to their every need. They have so many activities to look forward to daily and also plenty of friends to talk to. Today, during my visit I was sat outside in my car and could hear music playing, residents and staff laughing. I would definitely without a doubt recommend this home for my family and friends, as this manager and her team are doing a fantastic job of looking after loved ones that need a little extra support in their elderly years.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.836)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.836) out of 10 for Edmund House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 31 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 31 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.836 for Edmund House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (306 Excellents x 5) + (58 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 365 Ratings = 4.836
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Edmund House Care Home is based on 31 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 56 registered maximum number of service users is 11.2, which has been reached with 31 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

I began my career in the hair and beauty industry, where I developed strong client-facing and communication skills. I later moved into the health and social care sector, supporting individuals with learning disabilities in both psychological and domiciliary settings. Since 2012, I have worked mainly within the elderly care sector, focusing on administration and finance. I feel my communication skills and understanding of finance allow me to support both colleagues and residents effectively.

I enjoy working in a care environment where residents come first and where we strive to create a homely, safe setting. I live locally and value spending my free time helping my family and enjoying time with my granddaughters.

I have worked for Bupa since 2018 and progressed to Unit Manager in November 2019. I have worked in care since I was 15 and have extensive experience in mental health and dementia care. I’ve previously worked in care homes across Scunthorpe and surrounding areas, within the NHS as a healthcare assistant, and in the community supporting people to remain in their own homes for as long as possible.

I love working in care because it allows me to support people with dignity, respect and choice at the most important time of their lives.

I’m a mum of three children aged 24, 22 and 5, and also have a 3-year-old grandson, so life is busy. When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with my youngest child, and in the evenings I like to relax with a good book.

I previously worked at a local hospice as a care assistant, progressing to advanced care assistant and later to complementary therapist. During this time, I trained as a qualified Reiki practitioner and reflexologist, and also gained training in mindfulness, wellbeing, hand and foot massage, meditation and relaxation.

Looking after people is a privilege. It’s not just about supporting the individual, but also being there for their family and friends during difficult times. I love working in care services because of the people — both my colleagues and those we care for.

I’m married and have a daughter and a son, four grandsons and two granddaughters. Although my dad passed away 10 years ago, my mum is still a huge part of my life, which I feel very grateful for.

My hobbies include NFL American football, and my husband and I attend London games when our teams are playing in the UK. I enjoy spending time with family and friends and going on holiday — Greece is my favourite destination.

I have worked in the catering sector since the age of 19, starting as a prep chef and progressing to Head Chef. Before working in catering, I was a domiciliary carer, which I really enjoyed. Both roles give me a sense of fulfilment and allow me to make a positive difference.

My favourite part of working in care is making residents happy, speaking with them about food, and adapting meals to meet their individual needs.

I’m a mum of two and a wife. Food is my passion, and bringing happiness and enjoyment through food is my goal.

I have been working for Bupa for just over 4 years. Before working here, I was a full time stay at home mum as I took a few years break from my career until my children were older.

I enjoy working in the care home sector as every day is different. I love meeting new people as you get an insight into everyone’s life. The most rewarding aspect is having an impact on people’s lives with small acts of kindness & building meaningful relationships with residents as well as families.

I was born in London and moved to Scunthorpe in 2003. I completed my Level 2 in childcare, to then go on to help running my dad’s business. I am an extremely family orientated person. My 3 children, parents & siblings are a big part of my life. I believe in making each day count, building memories as we go along! I pride myself in setting a good example for my children. I regularly go on walks to help keep fit which also helps keep a clear mind and I often visit different cities/towns to eat out. My biggest passion is to travel and see the world, I love experiencing different cultures and meeting people from different backgrounds. Every year I try to go on holiday abroad with the family. My husband is my biggest supporter who always encourages me to go further and achieve more!
