My nana has been extremely happy since being in Edmund House. She is well cared for and the home is immaculate. There is always lots of activities for the residents to do and for everyone to be included. In these challenging times, it has been lovely to see videos and photos of our loved ones. I would highly recommend Edmund House.

Went to visit my uncle yesterday, had to have a Covid test whilst there performed by one lady who was lovely and very professional. A nice cup of coffee whilst waiting for the result, then given some PPE to wear. Very organised visit. The staff are extremely pleasant, and from what I saw, work very hard for the residents. First-class care. Would highly recommend.

My first opportunity to see my Mum in a year as she is nursed in bed a could not access the provided for COVID visits. I arrived early for my COVID test and was looked after by a lovely nurse who explained everything clearly and brought me up to speed with Mum's care. My time with Mum was fantastic and beneficial for both me and her. Lots of singing and laughing. Overall a very positive experience and can’t wait to see her soon!

My aunt is currently being cared for at Edmund House, and I am extremely happy with the care being given, during this time especially, it is lovely to be able to see the photos posted on Facebook and to see how happy and healthy she looks while we are unable to visit her, and to know that she is being encouraged to spend time with others.

My Nanna went into Edmund house for rehabilitation, the staff have not only cared for her but they have turned a bad situation into one of which she has flourished. My Nanna is mobile (which we thought that she would be cared for in bed for the rest of her days) again and loving the care home experience. Nothing is too much trouble for both management and all care team and we couldn’t be happier with the care and support she is receiving there. A big thank you to all the staff at Edmund House!

During these challenging times, we as a family had to choose a care home we felt was good enough to care for my mum. This was an easy decision as my aunty resides at Edmund House, and we haven't had any concerns around the care provided.
My mum's needs on admission were complex, and the manager and staff have kept the family updated on a daily basis due to the changes in her condition.
My mum is always in high spirits and always without exception praises and tells me how good the staff are during our daily facetime chats.

She likes all the food and has put on weight since admission, and the home is currently working with the physio to look at daily exercises to rehabilitate mum so she can hopefully return home. I would definitely recommend Edmund House and should I need residential care this would be my number 1 choice.

My great nanna has gone in for respite care. The manager and team have been extremely helpful and informative! Utilising social media platforms e.g. Facebook has helped through these difficult times allowing us to see what they are up to. It really is a home from home with attention to detail even down to the decor.

Over the last few weeks, Mum's health has declined but the staff who have provided her care have been fantastic. Their attitude to their jobs is second to none. Not only have they provided excellent care for Mum, they have also taken our needs and concerns into account. They are always there to answer our questions and offer advice. (We have found we now have an extended family). Thanks to all those who have delivered, and continue to provide Mum's care.

Expensive for paying residents. Not much staff cover at night. Safety of resident to resident contact (i.e. Mum assaulted twice until the offending resident moved). The staff has too much record-keeping to be done instead of caring. It needs making simpler because sometimes not always gets recorded because too much to fill in.

Dad was required to stay in the care home for respite after a short hospital stay, but due to the Covid-19 restrictions, I was unable to visit him. I was in daily contact with the care home and received reports that one of the carers had a very good rapport with my father which helped put my mind at ease and helped his stay to be enjoyable.

My mother was a resident for almost two years at Edmund House. Sadly, mum passed away on 11th June. Mum settled in well when she first made that massive step to leave her own house and take up residence at Edmund House. Having been taken ill initially in April this year and admitted to hospital, all she wanted was to get out of the hospital and back to the care of the staff at Edmund House. Although still very ill, she wanted the familiar faces and voices of the staff in her final days. The support, care and compassion to both mum and our family by all the staff was above and beyond their duty. They were there not only for mum, but for us too. A big thank you to everyone at Edmund House.

My mum was in Edmund House for over a year until she died there in May 2020. Throughout this time she was well-cared for and attention was paid to her mood and spiritual needs as well as physical care. The staff were caring and kind, even when under pressure, and were always approachable if we had any questions or concerns. Mum appreciated there always being someone on hand to help her and there were plenty of activities if she wanted to participate. I was welcome to visit at any time and did so frequently. The environment was light (very important as mum had severe visual impairment), clean and welcoming. As her health failed, Mum chose to remain there rather than go into hospital, and she was treated with kindness and dignity right to the end. I can mourn her knowing that she was safe and properly looked after in her final months. Thank you to all the wonderful staff at Edmund House. You have done a great job in very challenging times.

It is great to see the effort that the staff have put in over this difficult period of time to keep spirits high. Mum was welcomed into the Edmund House family in August 2018 when it became apparent she could no longer manage at her home. On our initial visit when looking for care for Mum, it was absolutely the right decision to choose Edmund House, as it was far superior to any other homes in the area! It's not overly big, well designed for the purpose and decorated to a high standard. Nothing was to much trouble for the management and staff, and from day one Mum was made to feel welcome, loved, safe and part of a family. She loved joining in with activities especially the quiz and knit and natter!
The staff were all caring, compassionate and professional, from the kitchen staff and cleaners to the care assistants and management, everyone works together and respects each other, which comes across when you visit.

Unfortunately Mum passed away in Edmund House on 8th May. We were with her at the end, for which we are very grateful.

My husband stayed for a weeks respite care. He had a stroke in 2016 so requires quite a lot of support as his right arm and leg are compromised. All the staff were excellent with him. Nothing was too much trouble. He enjoyed all meals and felt at home in the accommodation. He would be very happy to spend time there again.

Edmund House is, in my opinion, the best residential care home in the area of Scunthorpe. I feel this way having visited 99% in the area, along with great verbal recommendation from public opinion which I also feel is invaluable.
From the very first visit, I noticed how immaculate and stylish the exterior/interior was, setting the standard to which I wasn't disappointed.
I was greeted by friendly welcoming staff who gave me a tour of all the facilities which included a well-equipped hairdressing salon and spacious well equipped en-suite bedrooms.
The layout of the whole building considered all needs with huge attention to detail.
Mums has been living at Edmund House for two years now and we couldn't be happier with the care and understanding she has received gaining fantastic relationships with all of the thoughtful personable staff including management who are very proactive.

Mums eyes light up when staff walk into the room and that speaks volumes for the care she receives "priceless".

From moving my mother-in-law in the home has been very very good. The staff were so attentive, but now she is coming to the end of her life they are even better. They treated me kindly and let me have as much time as I wanted. On feeding the staff could not do enough for her. Changing meals or just giving little and often. All were or should I say marvellous and need a pay rise as what they get (I don't know) should be raised by 100%.

I have worked for Bupa since 2018 and progressed to Unit Manager in November 2019. I have worked in care since I was 15 and have extensive experience in mental health and dementia care. I’ve previously worked in care homes across Scunthorpe and surrounding areas, within the NHS as a healthcare assistant, and in the community supporting people to remain in their own homes for as long as possible.

I love working in care because it allows me to support people with dignity, respect and choice at the most important time of their lives.

I’m a mum of three children aged 24, 22 and 5, and also have a 3-year-old grandson, so life is busy. When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with my youngest child, and in the evenings I like to relax with a good book.

I was born in London and moved to Scunthorpe in 2003. I completed my Level 2 in childcare, to then go on to help running my dad’s business. I am an extremely family orientated person.
