Our mother is well along her Alzheimer's journey and is now unable to properly communicate and carry out normal bodily activities by herself.
All of the carers at Rathside give Mum total care, attention and love to ensure her life is as comfortable and happy as possible.
We visit Mum regularly and
are fortunate in that we can still have some form of interaction with Mum and sometimes we find that Mum fully recognises us which is wonderful.
While we are there one indicator of the love given to Mum is when one of Mum's regular carers joins us Mum reacts very positively to them usually with a smile, sometimes even with words, Mum's new family.
Our family have total trust in the Rathside team and can not thank them enough for the high quality of care given to our Mum and Granma.
Thank you.

Thank you Mike for your kind review. I will be sure to share this with our caring team of dedicated staff and the manager and I very much appreciate your support throughout Mum's placement. Thank you.

I have found the staff and owner very approachable, caring and hardworking with appropriate humour. All residents are included in activities and conversations. Medication is given regularly and delivered personally by the senior carer. The food is excellent and different diets are catered for. The meals
are well presented in a lovely, bright dining room. The laundry staff works wonders.

Rathside has always been a bright, friendly and engaging environment for Dad and for us to visit. Always made welcome. The meals provided are excellent, we have on occasions joined Dad and again always made welcome. Dad doesn't always engage in the activities which is his choice but when he does he
seems happy and content. He has freedom to wander if he chooses but also requires more support recently of which I have no concerns. I feel his rapport with the staff is good. My only niggle is that I can't always attend the music events if they are announced short notice. I would recommend Rathside.

When she lived at home I loved staying with my grandma and have many happy memories. Sadly, she is no longer well enough to live on her own but Rathside has become her new home which she is very happy in. When I visit the staff are friendly and they know my grandma very well. They are kind and caring
and make her smile if she is down. I am so glad she is in Rathside.

Mum went into the care of Rathside Care Home in July 2020. She settled in very quickly and has remained happy and relaxed in her new surroundings. The staff at Rathside Care Home have been excellent with mum and her needs, to which they’re extremely mindful. As a family, we’re very happy with mums overall
care from her food, room, mental stimulus and physical care. My sister and I live abroad so when we’re in the area we like to see mum often, Rathside Care Home are always very accommodating to our visiting needs and gives us the privacy we require. Thank you to all the staff at Rathside Care Home but particularly to the Manager.

Mum started her Rathside Care Home journey in January 2022. Mum can be a very awkward, stubborn and determined lady and the staff had a hard job on their hands when she arrived. Because of everyone’s caring, empathetic and engaging manner, mum has mellowed immensely. She is now very happy at Rathside
Care Home and is looked after extremely well. She enjoys the food. She doesn’t take part in the activities which is her choice and the staff respect that. The manager and her team are fantastic and highly experienced and can be relied upon to answer any questions we have. They give us help and guidance when needed. It is very comforting to know mum is in safe hands.

My Mum has been a care home resident at Rathside Care Home for twenty months. She entered the home at a difficult time of Covid restrictions. This was obviously very challenging for the carers, their families as well as the residents. As families, we could rely on the careful approaches to the situation
of the staff and leaders. The protocols were strict to protect residents but we were allowed to drop goods in for our loved ones and we were sent photos and videos to keep us informed of how our Mum was doing. This was such a help. My Mum has settled in well and I feel comforted and supported by the updates on Mum’s progress and health. The liaison with the local health centre is effective. There are lots of enrichment activities such as Musical events, special occasion celebrations and craft days. I would like to thank the carers for their discreet, professional care and their thoughtfulness in looking after our Mum. They are very ably led and managed by the manager who clearly cares about her residents.

Rathside goes above and beyond. All the residents feel like they are at home and not in a home. The atmosphere is always a happy atmosphere. Whenever you visit or call in to drop things off, (often unannounced) you are always greeted with a smile and heartfelt welcome. It always smells lovely and clean
and the residents always look immaculate. The food (I’m assured) is delicious and the cook always caters for individual needs and is happy to jig the menu slightly or alter times to suit. The staff put so much hard work into this place. There are so many activities going on and special occasions are always marked ie. Christmas, Jubilee party. Birthday cakes are made on residents' birthdays. The rooms are spacious and kept clean. From entering to leaving it always brings a smile to our faces to see how happy our family member is to be there.

My mother has been in Rathside for over three years. She is 93 and has Alzheimer's. From day one, the staff have provided caring and efficient support to her. There is a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere maintained by all staff from the top to the bottom. My mother could be described as a 'character',
and the staff deal very well with the eccentricities of her behaviour.
One of the high-scoring aspects of their service from my point of view is how approachable they all are if you have any requests or queries. The physical provisions are excellent. Mother has a lovely bright and airy room that is well serviced. And the food menus would rival those of decent restaurants. All in all, my brother and I have been able to relax through what could have been a very stressful period, knowing that she is receiving good quality, friendly support.

My grandma has been a resident at Rathside Care Home for the last two years and I am so happy with the service they have been providing. She suffers from dementia and was very reluctant to move into care, but it was definitely the right move for her. She has made lots of friends and gets involved in
all of the different activities which are arranged by the home. The manager and the team are great at keeping us updated about grandma’s well-being and are very helpful when it comes to arranging visits. The home itself is very clean and welcoming and I’ve been told that the food is delicious! I can’t thank the home enough for all they have done and continue to do for my grandma. I would highly recommend the home to any family who are considering putting a loved one into care.

Excellent care and attention for Mum. Staff allow her to be private when she wishes to be and encourage her to join in activities when she feels she wants to. Food is of an excellent standard, often going above and beyond to ensure meals are appetizing and have a variety. Staff are very creative in
their use of leisure time activities. Senior staff are always quick to respond to any questions or concerns. Often providing photos and anecdotes, ensuring that family bonds stay connected even though we may be some distance away and not able to visit.

Current Review Score: 9.3 (9.252)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.252) out of 10 for Rathside Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.5 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.714 for Rathside Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (51 Excellents x 5) + (18 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 70 Ratings = 4.714
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.538 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Rathside Care Home is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 32 registered maximum number of service users is 6.4. 6 Positive Reviews ÷ 6.4 = 0.938
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
