Overall, extremely pleased with Rathside Care Home. However, I do expect more external visits despite the pressure this would place on staffing levels.

My mother has been a resident for over 2 years now. The staff have treated her with respect and make sure she is as comfortable as possible.
They always seem to be friendly and cheerful during my regular visits.
Help with her feeding and personal care is provided on a regular basis and seems to be
a match for her needs.

I have experience of other care homes and what immediately struck me when I entered Rathside was the cleanliness and the pleasant smell. All management and staff have been more than helpful and very attentive to my mother's needs. I feel very reassured that my mother is surrounded by people who approach
their jobs in a very professional manner.

Every time I visit my wife, she tells me that Rathside is her home now. She is very happy there and is very complimentary about the staff, the food and the care given. From my point of view, I can see that my wife is happy. The staff are great, very friendly and I very much appreciate the care given
so I know from experience how difficult my wife can be at times given her Alzheimer's condition.

Poor care by night staff. Left on commode too long. Hot food served lukewarm. Medical requests not always actioned. Overall I am happy at Rathside. It has a homely and inviting feel and is beautifully kept.

My mother has been a resident over the last month, she has received excellent treatment from all management staff. She has a clean comfortable room and is given excellent food.
The residents seemed to be very happy and there is plenty of occupational remedies for them to take part in.
Although
staff are kept very busy, they always seem to have time for everyone including visitors.

Management are helpful, reliable and accommodating. Staff very good with my mother who is very happy most days (when she is not, it is purely down to her condition).
The premises are clean and well maintained. Generally, I am very happy with all aspects of the care that they provide and their communication
with myself.

Current Review Score: 9.3 (9.252)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.252) out of 10 for Rathside Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.5 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.714 for Rathside Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (51 Excellents x 5) + (18 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 70 Ratings = 4.714
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.538 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Rathside Care Home is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 32 registered maximum number of service users is 6.4. 6 Positive Reviews ÷ 6.4 = 0.938
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
