The care team at Gills Top are fabulous. Nothing is too much trouble and the well-being and happiness of my mother are paramount. Her comfort, happiness and health are taken into account 24/7. The facility is calm with beautiful gardens for residents and visitors to enjoy and activities are organised for every morning and afternoon.; from visiting birds of prey to uplifting singers and entertainers The food is excellent and any dietary requirements are fully catered for.
In summary, Gills Top is a happy place with a superb and very well-managed team.

A great experience.

My visit to Gills Top was chosen after an operation to help with respite and recovery. I booked two weeks. I was pleased with my choice. The room was comfortably furnished with a TV and riser/recliner chair. The en-suite with basin and WC was easily accessible and roomy. The management were most welcoming and happy to help with liaising with the pharmacy. Visits from district nurses had been arranged. Although I stayed mostly in my room there were ample lounge facilities access to the garden, and outings and entertainment. The food was very good and the kitchen staff most helpful with any requirements. Visitors are welcome, and the centre of Grassington is within a short walking distance. It was indeed a pleasant visit and after 2 weeks I felt well enough to go home after having been looked after so well. The staff were all very friendly and reliable. I would certainly recommend Gills Top to anyone needing short or long term care.

Gills Top is an amazing care home. My dad has been a resident there for approximately 8 weeks and we as a family could not be happier with the staff and facilities that are provided.
All the team are extremely professional and go over and above what is expected of them.
Whilst Dad has been extremely poorly, nothing has been too much trouble, and every member of the team have gone out of their way to support his needs. We have regularly been updated with Dad’s condition and treatment either by phone, or personally when we have visited.

Thank you Gills Top for everything you do.

My husband had to go into a care home because I was no longer able to care for all his needs. From the first day, he was in Gills Top, he settled down and never once asked to come back home. He liked his room, and he said that all the carers were kind to him, and they were kind to me and our family as well. His sudden illness took us all by surprise, he was taken to the hospital and ten days later he lost his fight for life.

Gills Top cared for me after a fall until I was well enough to return home. The team were kind and supportive helping me to regain my confidence. I enjoyed the home-cooked food and being able to choose how I spent my day. I particularly enjoyed taking part in the inter-home quiz and chatting with other residents. My room was cozy with a view of the country lane outside, and the friendly, helpful staff are good company.

I have visited many care homes and this is, by far, the best I have ever seen. The home is beautifully kept and immaculately clean. The staff are all amazing and you call tell they all enjoy their jobs, always happy and welcoming. Thank you so much for caring for Dad.

Gills Top have been amazing after my grandmother fell and broke her arm in early December. They quickly arranged her assessment and admission to a warm and supportive environment. She has regained her health, confidence and independence under their care, and is now ready to return home. She really enjoyed the food, and found the staff and other residents great company. The care has been exceptional, particularly in promoting her independence in a gentle and kind way. Nan was worried about being bored or isolated without her independence at home, but she has enjoyed entertainers, quizzes, a pantomime and daily activities to keep her busy; whilst still having the privacy of her room watching her favourite programs, using her computer or chatting to friends on the phone. We will always be grateful to the staff at Gills Top for helping Nan to return home and should she need support in the future she now has a much more positive view of care home life.

Mum has now been in Gills Top for 5 weeks. The service and care we have experienced as a family is beyond words, from the time we had the introductory meeting through to the present. Nothing is too much trouble! Mum had blackouts when she first arrived which facilitated a medication review which hasn't been done in years and now fingers crossed her health has improved. Regarding personal care, Mum is more than happy with the support she gets, allowing her both independence and dignity whilst stepping in when help is required. The activities are wide-ranging including external singers, flower arranging, pamper sessions, cooking, through to a wide range of crafts; Halloween was very special. The family also love the social media page which keeps us up to speed with the activities of the day. Big shout out to the handyman who has helped with personalising Mum's room and to the management team. Last but not least the food is excellent, all freshly cooked with a wide variety of seasonal produce.

Over the past two years, on a regular basis my husband has received respite care at Gills Top. His care has always been exemplary and I have previously written a review to that effect. As I had injured my back in July of this year and was unable to care for my husband at home, he was admitted to Gills Top. Sadly, he died there at the end of August. I feel I must write another review in respect of myself as well as my husband - as usual the care he received was exemplary - all the staff at Gills Top are super friendly, wonderfully caring, amazingly patient and nothing is too much trouble. For the last ten days of his stay there, my husband was on end of life care and I was with him throughout that period. During that emotionally draining time I was totally cared for myself and indeed given accommodation so that I could be there for my husband on a continuous basis. I wish to thank all of the staff for being there for me as well as my husband. Keep up the good work - you’re all absolutely brilliant.

My mother went to Gills Top for one week of respite care and spent the next eight years their because she liked it so much. Mum was always very complimentary about the staff and the excellent care she received. Very professional and well managed, she regarded them as friends as well as carers. They would often come and chat with Mum, share a joke or two and have a laugh. She liked that and also the company of the other residents. Mum was also very complimentary about the food and she looked forward to meal times. I did not hear one complaint in eight years. The home is in a great location and most rooms have splendid views over the dales. I was always made to feel welcome on my visits and it was particularly comforting when I left to know that my mother was in a safe place and being well cared for.

I arrived at Gills Top after being in hospital for 12 weeks. It was sudden and I had been very ill at the time, I have found all the carers helpful and compassionate and caring at Gills Top. As time went on, I personally' analysed' the food after teaching other people about food and nutrition in older people. The cooking of the food varies because of the dislikes and likes of the residents.
I was falling a lot at first when I came into Gills Top and had no understanding of why, GP looked into this and I was happy with the outcome because I'm not falling anymore.
The programme entertainment is excellent and it varies, Gills Top take us out into the village to have coffee and cake and also to see the calendar girls' musical outings.

We are encouraged to enjoy the garden in the sunshine, it's peaceful.

Gills Top Care Home is friendly, very clean and welcoming and the staff are great. When Mum first arrived, straight from hospital, for respite care, the carers helped get her to her room and immediately asked if she wanted tea and biscuits - which were promptly provided, making Mum feel much better immediately. The food is freshly prepared and there is always a choice and the cake is excellent! Nothing is too much trouble and Mum is settling in nicely.

Looking around, my first impressions were good. The rooms were lovely, as were the staff. Mum is now settled and very happy at Gills Top.
Mum thinks all the staff are wonderful and only has one complaint and that is the food and the way some good meals are spoilt by the way it is cooked. We have been told a new chef is being employed, so Mum is looking forward to better meals.
We all have been made to feel very comfortable and welcome.

Could not have found a better home for Mum.

After looking at so many care homes and none of them feeling quite right and some absolutely terrible, my sister and I viewed Gills Top - straight away I was impressed with the place and the enthusiasm shown by the manager who showed us around. My first impression was of a homely atmosphere, everywhere was clean and tidy, the staff all seemed friendly and talkative and the rooms were a good size. Now, after my mother has been there for a couple of months and settled in there, I have absolutely no need to change my mind from my first impression. My mother is happy there and that is all that matters. Well done to all the staff there for taking such good care of Mum and for constantly making us welcome whenever we visit.

A great choice of care home if you're looking for care for a family member. Very homely atmosphere and can't fault the staff who go above and beyond to help both the resident and the family. They always keep in touch with us if there are any concerns. The home is lovely and clean and the premises are well looked after. Residents can also have some of their own possessions with them which is helpful in helping them settle in, making it a home from home. Meals can be provided either in the resident's room or in the communal dining room which, if the resident likes their own company, works well. There are lots of activities going on to provide stimulation, even external visitors bringing in something different. But back to the staff. My mum can sometimes display quite challenging behaviour but everyone is patient and kind and do their best to accommodate all situations. We are very pleased with the care provided and wouldn't hesitate in recommending Gills Top to anyone.
