Gills Top is located in the picturesque village of Grassington, providing quality care and facilities within a comfortable and relaxing environment.

The home is a short distance from the River Wharfe and enjoys an idyllic location within the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Gills Top is proud to have achieved Veteran Friendly Framework (VFF) accreditation to provide personally tailored support for veterans.

The home provides residential care which is personally tailored to meet the individual needs of customers and enhance their quality of life. The care team works closely with customers and their loved ones to create detailed care plans.

This ensures each individual’s health and care needs are continually met. Dementia care training is regularly provided for care staff to ensure their approach always reflects best practice.

Whilst only the briefest of time in Gills Top collecting my friend for our trip to the village, I found the staff to be friendly, courteous and caring. My friend took me to her room which was lovely - bright, airy and cheerful.

Knowing we needed to start the care home ‘journey’ by booking my mum in for two nights’ respite care and actually doing it were two very different things in my mind. However, with the help of the wonderful staff at Gills Top, in the end, it was all much easier than I had anticipated. From our very first
visit, it was clear Gills Top sets the highest of standards in the homeliest of ways. It exudes warmth and kindness; there is a calmness that is instantly reassuring. On picking up my mum at the end of her mini-break it was very apparent that she had been extremely happy and settled at Gills Top and had made the most of her stay, joining in the many and varied activities, enjoying the lovely garden and most certainly savouring the food! Having interacted with the fantastic Gills Top team in the run-up to Mum’s stay, we had already known she was in very safe, amazingly patient and extremely caring hands, but witnessing the hugs as we left Gills Top sealed it for me - she'll be back!

My aunt has been well cared for for some years at Gills Top. The staff are always friendly, well organised and create a home from home atmosphere. The activities, good food, Covid-19 compliance and general health care of the residents is always paramount. The staff are always happy to go the extra
mile and that is such a bonus for us. The residents always seem happy when we visit and that speaks volumes.
I would highly recommend Gill Top.

Whilst I have not been allowed access to the main part of the home during the pandemic, the ensuite accommodation enjoyed by my mother is more than adequate. What is most striking is the friendliness and devotion to my mother of the staff. I cannot speak too highly of them. The care and concern of the
staff are excellent. My only negative comment is the answerphone message which refers to a ring back, then this doesn't happen, which is understandable but perhaps the answerphone message should be amended.

My father spent the last two years of his life in Gills Top and I have no hesitation in recommending them. I never felt that it was anything but absolutely the right place for him. Alzheimer's meant that he gradually lost the ability to live at home alone, and eventually ended up in hospital with a
broken hip after a fall. I visited a lot of care homes around the area, but the "vibe" of Gills Top immediately felt right to me, and the care he received from the brilliant staff proved me correct in that gut feeling. He was well looked after and fed, and while he wasn't a great one for activities, there was certainly lots of opportunity for interaction, and he was occasionally persuaded out for things like canal boat trips and fish & chips. The beautiful and comparatively remote rural location also means that staff tend to be quite long-term, so there isn't a constant turnover of new faces which would be confusing for someone with dementia. Great place, great, caring people.

Deciding to put my dad into a care home has been a difficult decision for me and my family but once we had contacted the manager she has made the process easier.
He has settled in really well and the staff have been very accommodating. We have noticed an improvement in his abilities, walking, self-care
and independence.
Thank you to all the staff involved who have made this process less stressful.

My dad recently moved to Gills Top and from my initial phone call through the settling in process this has been a very positive experience. The atmosphere is welcoming and all the staff are friendly and attentive. Dad receives a lot of support and care has been taken to assess his needs and to provide
additional equipment. Communication is good and queries are dealt with appropriately. Visits are handled well in these difficult times. Staff are busy but are always cheerful and accommodating. There is a lovely family atmosphere in the house and the stimulation of being around people and taking part in activities is great. Dad has settled quickly and is comfortable and he feels lucky to be so well cared for. It's a relief to know that he is safe and well looked after in a lovely environment.

My mother came out of hospital in Shropshire and we had to find a care home near us as she was unable to look after herself. We are so pleased with Gills Top. Not only is it small but the staff are so caring and friendly. My mother has greatly improved and I know she is well looked after. We particularly
like that the home is non-profit making and that was one of the deciding factors in choosing it.

Unexpectedly having to find residential care for my mum at Christmas during the coronavirus pandemic was not easy. However, the management staff at Gills Top were extremely understanding and could not have been more helpful in addressing our needs. We have not been able to visit inside the care home
but the care my mum is receiving and the warmth and affection which the staff have for my mum is lovely to see. My mum is much calmer than she was before and it is a great comfort to know that she is safe.

Placing my mum into a care home has been a difficult decision, she didn’t want to go, but we could no longer carry on. Navigating the process, contacting homes, reading reports can be at times depressing and overwhelming.
Then I met someone with experience of Gills Top and we haven’t looked back. The
staff, especially the manager, took the time, patience and understanding to help us make this step, meeting my mum’s individual needs at her pace.
Gills Top is a home full of kindness and warmth, in a beautiful setting, with dedicated caring staff. I knew on our first visit this would be somewhere my mum could live, it just felt right. The residents are quite clearly very well looked after, the home is spotless, the atmosphere friendly and reassuring. From reluctantly going for respite, my mum is now completing the process of permanent residency. She simply doesn’t want to come home, feeling happier and safer at Gills Top.

My mother-in-law arrived at Gills Top to a warm welcome and settled in very easily. She had the added bonus of her sister already living there which was a very good recommendation, it also made the adjustment from her own home easier. She has enjoyed all the activities within the home and also being
involved in the wider community. The staff have provided excellent care and ensured she received additional equipment when required. This is only the start of her new life at Gills Top but so far it’s been a positive experience.

My Grandmother has recently moved into Gills Top and the staff have been amazing and have had such a quick response to make sure she has the medical care she needs to help her long-term and provisions to make her later years more comfortable. The staff have made her feel so welcome and have helped her
move all her things in; even getting her huge rise and recliner chair into her room for her. She's very happy to know she is safe and will be looked after, and I feel comfortable knowing I can trust the staff and that my Grandma is in good hands. She is more able to see different places and see different people than she has been for the last two years. Excellent care and organisation so far.

Mum went to Gills Top in January during pandemic lockdown so unable to look round but the staff were very welcoming answering all our questions. Mum receives quality individual care by kind, dedicated team, nothing is too much trouble. The family are reassured that mum is happy and settled. The home
is set in a beautiful area with a lovely garden setting and the room is comfortable.

My adopted aunt is very happy at Gills Top. The home is small and welcoming and the staff are very dedicated and kind. The garden is lovely and the rooms are very comfortable. There is a varied programme of events.

Mum went to Gills Top just before lockdown, so I wasn't able to see her. The staff kept me informed and were very kind when I rang. I felt confident she was well cared for. I have since been able to sit with Mum in the garden; it was lovely. The staff are amazing with Mum who is 93 and has dementia.
I cared for Mum for a long time, and it is such a relief to know she is in such a great home.

Mum has been a resident at Gills Top for 18 months. It has been an emotional roller coaster for us as a family to make the decision that mum was no longer able to stay at home and that 24 hour care was needed in order for mum to stay safe and be cared for.
We could not have chosen better. Gills Top
are able to provide mum with the care, support and stability she needs, in a homely setting. The team at Gills Top are amazing. They provide quality individual care and support to their residents, which gives us the reassurance that mum is safe and well.
I cannot put into words the gratitude we have towards the team, particularly during the pandemic. They have put their own lives, and their families at risk, to ensure that our loved ones remain healthy. Thank you.

The care at Gills Top is outstanding in every way. The place itself is extremely polished and smart, the staff are thoughtful and extremely caring, treating residents as though they are their own family members and the activities they arrange are superb. My mother-in-law likens it to a hotel with top
food - and it is! There is a warm welcome the minute you walk through the door - nothing is too much trouble. And in these unprecedented of times, the home has gone above and beyond in every possible way. Communication and transparency is key and this has been excellent too during this tough time. We knew that when we found Gills Top for mum, we had found the best place for her and we didn't need to look anymore; we have been so right. Especially throughout the current situation; we have felt so reassured to know that Mum is receiving the best care from a great team of highly professional carers.
