My adopted aunt is very happy at Gills Top. The home is small and welcoming and the staff are very dedicated and kind. The garden is lovely and the rooms are very comfortable. There is a varied programme of events.

Mum went to Gills Top just before lockdown, so I wasn't able to see her. The staff kept me informed and were very kind when I rang. I felt confident she was well cared for. I have since been able to sit with Mum in the garden; it was lovely. The staff are amazing with Mum who is 93 and has dementia. I cared for Mum for a long time, and it is such a relief to know she is in such a great home.

My mother has been in the care home since March, and in all this time, I can only praise the staff at the home for their continued support in what has been for everybody a very testing time. The home and staff have gone to extreme lengths to make the residents and family as welcome as possible.

Mum has been a resident at Gills Top for 18 months. It has been an emotional roller coaster for us as a family to make the decision that mum was no longer able to stay at home and that 24 hour care was needed in order for mum to stay safe and be cared for.
We could not have chosen better. Gills Top are able to provide mum with the care, support and stability she needs, in a homely setting. The team at Gills Top are amazing. They provide quality individual care and support to their residents, which gives us the reassurance that mum is safe and well.

I cannot put into words the gratitude we have towards the team, particularly during the pandemic. They have put their own lives, and their families at risk, to ensure that our loved ones remain healthy. Thank you.

The care at Gills Top is outstanding in every way. The place itself is extremely polished and smart, the staff are thoughtful and extremely caring, treating residents as though they are their own family members and the activities they arrange are superb. My mother-in-law likens it to a hotel with top food - and it is! There is a warm welcome the minute you walk through the door - nothing is too much trouble. And in these unprecedented of times, the home has gone above and beyond in every possible way. Communication and transparency is key and this has been excellent too during this tough time. Bravo Team! Exceptional.

We knew that when we found Gills Top for mum, we had found the best place for her and we didn't need to look anymore; we have been so right. Especially throughout the current situation; we have felt so reassured to know that Mum is receiving the best care from a great team of highly professional carers. Their dedication to their work is so evident, and we cannot thank them enough for all they do.

I knew the moment I visited Gills Top that we had found the right environment for our mother: that perfect balance of care and stimulation is perfect and I could not be more impressed! The entire team is amazing, particularly how they have so skillfully and calmly navigated care for the residents through these exceptional times of lockdown. I know my mother is safe and happy; I know I can rest easy. Since January I have seen my mother flourish and return to a person I thought we'd lost for good. She is clearly enriched and stimulated by the environment and with such carefully scaffolded support she has been transformed. I wish I had known sooner, just how fantastic this care home is and that there is a happy life beyond living at home for elderly relatives. The whole family is delighted with our mother's care. A huge thank you to this outstanding team!

Friendly, caring and helpful staff in a warm and welcoming environment. The home provides an excellent level of care for its residents, and it is well managed by informative and experienced staff. The senior care staff are very approachable in dealing with any questions or request in an appropriate and timely manner. I would recommend the home to anyone who has an elderly relative needing residential care.

Mum has been in Gills Top for three months now and I have nothing but praise for it. She has stayed in several other homes all more expensive but the care and support have far exceeded the others whilst also offering excellent value for money. The staff are lovely incredibly professional while always remembering that residents are individuals with different needs and wants that they bend over backwards to meet. I have been able to relax knowing mum is safe and really cared for. I literally can't find anything I would improve. Thanks so much for the peace of mind.

The staff at Gills Top are amazing.
They are caring, professional, thoughtful and kind.
I am so glad that my mum is so well looked after by the team and their excellent manager.
Mum is very happy at Gills Top.
She feels well cared for and safe.
She does wish they had a cat but understands that this is a personal thing and not everyone likes animals.

A pet may be a good idea?

I am very happy with all types of care. The home is kept very clean and pleasant to visit. I understand meals are good and from a varied menu. Varied activities. Lovely setting, garden etc. Doesn't have a 'smell' of a care home. Management good. Outings arranged.

My dad went into Gills Top in November last year. Initially went in for a couple of weeks respite but realised that he was struggling with his walking at home, and we decided it was best for him to stay there. Very clean place, the homemade food was lovely according to my dad. Seemed very happy with all the staff. Dad didn't join in many activities but that wasn't through the want of trying by the staff!

Mainly because there were all ladies as residents and he didn't feel comfortable joining in.

My mother was a resident at Gills Top for two and a half years. During that time she was treated with kindness. Wonderful care, respect and dignity by the staff. Her room and the public rooms were kept clean and tidy. The meals were good and appetising. Mum's personal care, washing, baths etc was supervised and she was always clean and smart.
Activities were regularly organised at the home. Also trips and local outings. During the final weeks of mum's life, she could not have been looked after any better anywhere. The staff were wonderful. Nothing was too much trouble to them.

As a visitor, I was always made very welcome and felt like a member of the Gills Top family.

My husband was in respite care and I accompanied him as his carer. The home at Gills Top is first class. The staff are marvellous, they work very hard and nothing is too much trouble. They are friendly and welcoming. They treat all the residents with care and support. They respect everyone's right to dignity and show a great deal of patience and compassion. Anchor and residents are very blessed to have an excellent team like them. Food is excellent too.

My wife and I visited my mother last weekend. Ever since she has been at the home we have been impressed with the quality of care she has received. On this occasion, with a recent fracture to her arm after a fall during the night, we came away totally reassured that she is receiving the best possible care. The staff could not have been more helpful and attentive and their concern for her welfare was evident throughout our visit which extended from late morning and over lunch. On every visit, we have been impressed by the continuity of care that carers are obviously well trained and motivated staff a real tribute to the manager. My mother has told us she loves living at the home and always tells us of the activities laid on for residents. The home is warm and cosy and we're grateful mum is in such good hands.

My husband was admitted to the Gills Top, Scar Street for respite due to him having had a fall at home and I needed surgery to my back. I found all the staff very professional in their approach to my husband i.e. washing, food, personal care, room clean and tidy and always with a smile and always made me and my friends and family very welcome. Long may we have Anchor Homes!
