This care home puts a whole new meaning on the word care. My father-in-law was treated with so much love, respect and care, so much above the norm. He was welcomed with warmth. I cannot put into words the security it gave us all that he was in such a safe and caring place, getting all the care and more than he needed. Many, many thanks.
Thank you so much, Julie, for your kind words. We always share feedback with the staff, and it means a great deal to us all.
I first came to St John's as a permanent resident in October 2021 after two periods of respite care. I was immediately impressed with the cleanliness of the home and the friendliness of the staff and residents. The food is quite nice, with a good menu choice. My room is excellent, with pleasant furnishings and a comfortable bed. It is always kept very clean. Many of the room has a lovely lookout, and the gardens are well-maintained. The staff are wonderful, management too. Activities are super.
Thank you so much for your wonderful feedback; it's wonderful having you with us!
All residents are called, by all staff, by their first name, which I find nice.
I feel that my mum is in a very safe environment and cared for whilst providing company and activities.
Thank you for your kind review. I'm really glad that you like the use of first names; we do everything to promote the fact that our residents are in their homes and should feel as relaxed and as comfortable as possible.
St John's is a wonderful care home, set in beautiful surroundings. The staff are professional, knowledgable and caring and look after each resident whilst considering the resident's individual needs. Families are always kept up to date on the well-being of their family members and also all the activities that are available.
Thanks so much for your lovely feedback, Roz; it's very much appreciated by us all, and I'll share it with the team.
Mum lives with us, and needing a break, we booked her into St John's for respite care. Unfortunately, she had a health emergency, and after a spell in hospital and rehab, we thought we started to think we would not get our holiday. But thanks to St John's and the NHS rehab centre, we went away, leaving the cross-over in their capable hands. Mum is 93 and gets anxious about change; thanks to the caring professionals at St John's, she was supported to settle in. All our family who visited, whilst we were away, were impressed with the home itself, the management and the staff. Mum was so well looked after, and she thoroughly enjoyed her time at St John's. The care she received was first-rate, and we are so grateful to them for their support. She loved the homely environment, the food and being so well looked after. The highlight of her stay was being able to have a soak in a bath, something she’s not been able to do for a long time.
Mum moved in for respite in July 2021 and decided to move in permanently. The staff are very friendly and very efficient. The home is always immaculately clean. It is difficult to give a full review because of the Covid restrictions that have been in place.
Thank you for the lovely review. Luckily we have been able to reduce so many of the Covid restrictions, here's hoping the final ones will be lifted soon.
I could not have found anywhere better. The staff are all very kind and compassionate - nothing is ever too much trouble. I really can't thank them enough for all they have done and continue to do for my mum. Many thanks to everyone.
Thank you so much. It's a real pleasure having your mum in our community.
I am so pleased that we found St John's for Dad. He's been with them for 8 months now and always looks clean and well cared for. His room is comfortable and spotlessly clean, and the whole building and grounds are beautiful and welcoming. The staff are patient and kind when helping Dad, and he is treated with respect and dignity. It's lovely knowing that he is encouraged to join in things when he is able to. I have always found the staff to be friendly, helpful and professional. St John's is a lovely, homely place where we know Dad is safe and well looked after.
Thank you so much, Alison, I always share these reviews with staff, and it really matters to them to know that their hard work is valued and noticed. We're delighted that your Dad chose to join us, and we'll keep encouraging him to join us in a wide range of activities; our wellbeing team will make sure of that!
This home has a friendly atmosphere with helpful and caring staff - it seems very well organised with plenty of activities and interaction with residents. The facilities and decor are impressive, and the gardens are lovely and a great asset. My mother is very happy here and feels safe, receiving excellent attention and reassurance and lots of fun.
Thank you so much for the kind review, Jennifer; it's a pleasure having your mother with us.
I think it is fair to say that my mother arrived at St John's under difficult circumstances. She was very unwell and quiet down after a prolonged period of illness. St John's has been a ray of sunshine in our family's life. We could not have asked for better care, mental support or, quite frankly, love. Many thanks to you all and, in particular, the manager and deputy manager.
Thank you so much for such wonderful feedback, Debbie; the team work hard to bring laughter and love to our wonderful residents, and it's so nice when it impacts so positively on peoples' lives.
All staff are very welcoming, very caring and treat residents with dignity. All very approachable to take through problems we may be having with Mum's health or needs. Very "on the ball" with Mum's care and getting a doctor/nurse for medical issues. Mum's room is always very clean, the laundry is beautiful (as Mum will say), and Mum is always clean and well-groomed.
Thank you, Susan, your kind comments mean a lot to us all. It’s a pleasure having your mum with us. Our housekeeping and laundry team work so hard and are all stars!
It’s such a special calling to care for the elderly. There are so many levels of need to be met and different personalities and life experiences to accommodate. At St John’s House, where I have been visiting my mum every week for the past six months, I have always felt in awe of the community of coworkers who make this home feel so very homely. The open-door policy is an aspect of the relaxed and respectful attitude towards the residents, yet I know for a fact that there is always vigilance and an appropriate level of shepherding when needed! When joining in with the wonderful Jubilee celebration, I got a personal taste of being welcomed in and cared for by these lovely people, and felt almost guilty to leave them with all the clearing up and the continuing care of the residents at the end of it. I can’t thank everyone enough, from management through to the carers, caterers, handyman and gardeners, for making this as good a new home for our mum as we could ever have asked.
Wow Michael, what lovely comments. It was great to have you join us at the Jubilee party, and I can assure you that it didn't take us long to tidy up afterwards, so no guilt needed! The drinks and food helped us all have a super celebration together.
As far as my brother and I are concerned, we could not have made a better choice than St John's. I cannot praise the staff too highly; they are friendly and efficient. Mum's lack of mobility does not stop the staff from encouraging her to join in with some of the activities. The standard of hygiene is excellent. The room is clean and well decorated. It is fair to say Mum is reasonable content and considers St John's her home. Recently, they celebrated the Queen's Jubilee with residents and relatives, and it was a wonderful occasion for all. Well done, St John's.
Thank you so much for your lovely review, Sylvia; it is so much appreciated. I'm so glad you enjoyed our Jubilee celebration - it was so special to be able to open up to relatives and celebrate together again after such a long period of restrictions.
My uncle was in St John's House for respite. We were very happy with the care he received. Staff seemed conscientious and accommodating; they had a good system in place, despite Covid restrictions. Overall, very pleased.
Thank you so much for your lovely review, Lisa; it is very much appreciated, and we'd love you to consider using our service again if ever needed. Luckily, many Covid restrictions have eased, which makes it so much easier to provide a fun, warm and caring service - just as it should be.
When my mother entered St John's, she was in a low state of mind and very fragile, both physically and mentally. They have done wonders for her with the care and support of the staff (who are absolutely excellent) and the well-running of the whole establishment. We would have no hesitation in recommending St John's to anybody and would publicly like to thank everybody for their fun, and the support and care are given to my mum - absolutely outstanding.
Thank you so much, Steve; it's lovely having your mother and your family as part of our community. I always share these reviews with staff on our staff Whatsapp group; it means a great deal to them to feel so appreciated.
St John's is the most bright and friendly care home I have ever come across. The staff are incredibly friendly and always keen to help if I have any queries or concerns about my dad. He is so well cared for and very happy being a resident there. Dad loves the food, and he is fascinated that everybody knows him personally and that he always sees the same friendly people who are looking after him.
That’s wonderful to hear. Thank you, Sue. Many of our staff have been with us for years and pride themselves on knowing everybody’s wants, wishes and preferences. It’s a pleasure having your dad with us.
St John's House is a beautifully kept home and garden. The very caring staff are vigilant and reassuring to the elderly residents and are always on hand. They do their best to provide stimulating activities, and the trips out are very popular. I feel confident in my mother's care, and she seems happy and untroubled. Her requests are always listened to and care is taken to provide food that she likes.
Thanks so much for your lovely review, Chris. It's a pleasure looking after your lovely mother, and we're trying to make the best of this sun with regular outings for ice creams!
The home is clean and welcoming. The gardens are beautiful. Her personal care is exemplary. Food is good. She has easy access to chiropody and hairdressing, and there are lots of organised activities for the residents.
I highly recommend it.
Thank you so much for your kind words, Jeremy; I've passed them onto staff. It's a pleasure having your mother stay with us.
Just been to the first garden party and had a great time. The staff are fantastic and very caring. Having been into a lot of homes, this beats most hands down for facilities and things to do for the residents, which keeps them motivated.
Thank you for your kind words. It was great to see you at our special Jubilee event. We're already planning the next celebration.
Mum arrived at the home as Covid hit the UK. She has been looked after and cherished, despite our difficulty in visits. This month it became clear Mum was ill "end of life", and the home has been exceptional in giving her a loving and caring environment, giving her much dignity and supporting us through the emotional time.
Thankyou so much for your kind comments Michael. It has been a real privilege to care for your mum.
