I can’t thank St John's House and in particular, the manager for her help and care in the last few weeks as my Grandma enters the final days of life. They’ve been wonderful to my family and me and there aren’t words that can show that. My grandma has been in St John's House for the last couple of years full time and has always been treated with dignity and respect, she has been comfortable, well-fed and clean. Whenever I’ve been to see her she’s had a smile on her face. You’re always greeted with a smile and there is continually a smell of home-cooked food wafting around whilst residents play games and enjoy the company. Thank you all! You’ve made my grandma’s final years happy.
Thank you so much for your kind words, Tom. I’ll pass them on to staff, especially to our wonderful manager whose kindness really matters at times like these. It’s a real privilege to care for your grandma, and it’s lovely to hear that our home life has been such a positive experience for her.
Mum was very well looked after in her week's respite. The staff made Mum feel at home, and she said they were all kind and caring. She also said the food was very good! She said she would be very happy to go for a visit again.
Despite Covid restriction over the last 22-months, we have been able to visit my mother, whenever the restrictions have allowed. St John's have made facilitates available (Skype, visitors pods, PPE for room visits). Activities have continued throughout, although some have had to be restricted (Summer Fayre, Christmas Party). We appreciate the way St John's have managed the situation throughout Covid.
Thank you so much for your very kind comments. Covid has been hard for us all, and the support and understanding from residents and relatives have been so appreciated. We’re hoping that this is the year we can have so many community celebrations again - we miss them too.
5-stars genuinely is not enough for this outstanding care home. My dad has been lucky enough to have some respite care here, and he truly comes alive when he visits. He has made lots of friends, and the staff cannot do enough for him; the residents really are at the heart of everything the staff do. St John's is a joyous place, and I feel so very fortunate to have found somewhere so exceptional for my dad.
Thank you for your kind words, Lucy; I’ve shared them with staff, who feel very appreciated. We love it when your Dad comes to stay and look forward to seeing him again soon, we hope. Happy New Year.
I was warmly welcomed by both staff and several residents alike. There was a good choice of food on the menu, and the meals were presented extremely appetisingly. I thought there should be a member of staff in attendance throughout mealtime. I didn't think staff should be using their mobile phones whilst on duty. I didn't think the shower area was suitable.
Hello Janet, thank you for your kind comments. Our Care planning system is electronic, and staff input all contacts on small phone handsets that they carry at all times - I apologise if this was not clarified with you and want to reassure you that staff do not access their own phones during the...
My husband's first respite at 63 years, he seems young to be in a care home, St John's House reassured me from the beginning, they were considerate to my needs as well as his. Despite Covid restriction and ensuring everyone's safety was paramount. The staff here so kind and considerate and ensured I had a relaxing break away. He enjoyed his stay - enough said! Thank you.
Thank you so much for your kind comments. We are delighted that our service helped you to have a relaxing well deserved break.
My mum needed full-time care and with our busy and working lives, we needed help. Mum would not accept a 'live-in' carer. I brought her to St John's House as a trial/holiday. She did take a while to settle and it was the hardest thing I've done in my life but the amazing, caring and wonderful team made everything slot into place. I don’t think I’ll have her long now as I see her deteriorating but at 93 she has the best care and attention I could ever want from them and I can WhatsApp video and visit her regularly which she enjoys. When my dad passed two years ago at 93 I promised him she would be ok and with the help of the fantastic team at St John's House I feel I have fulfilled my promise to him. They were together from the ages of 14 and 16, so a lifetime. Thanks again everyone.
All members of staff were kind, compassionate and always willing to make a special effort to manage the extra care Mum required.
St Johns House consistently achieves an excellent understanding and sensitivity towards the residents that are at the heart of this very special care home.
Our family have been very fortunate to have placed our trust in St John's House, and thanks to all the staff for their unfailing kindness and support.
After a week's respite last year, my mother moved into St John's House as a resident a few weeks ago. It's obviously a difficult time for both staff and residents, but I feel that everything possible is being done to enable the residents to enjoy fulfilling days, despite Covid restrictions. The care home is well run and well managed, and communication with relatives is excellent. I have found the staff to be friendly, kind and helpful, which adds to the happy atmosphere I feel when visiting. Above all, I feel that the happiness and welfare of residents is the main priority of St John's House, which means everything to me.
Mt stay at St John's House has been a happy experience in every respect. Good food and a calm, pleasant room adequately furnished. Every member of staff with whom I have had the pleasure of meeting has been friendly, capable and willing to do all they can to help. I could not have wished for better attention and care. Well done!
Warm and friendly staff.
My dad enjoyed his stay.
Dad has been a resident at St John's for the past three years, and over this period, the standard of care has been outstanding. There are a number of individual carers who are fantastic and have helped my dad through a very difficult period, but the whole team work together to ensure the atmosphere there is very friendly and caring. I would not hesitate to recommend St John's to anyone.
Care home is clean, nicely decorated, welcoming with lovely grounds. Multiple activities for residents. Staff have been amazing - excellent care, thoughtfulness, managed extremely well during Covid- visiting pod great. Easy to contact staff with any queries. Well managed.
My mum arrived at St John's in December 2018, and the care she has received since then has been excellent. In particular, the manner in which the staff and management have responded to the pandemic has been simply outstanding. Communication has been very clear, comprehensive and regularly updated via a very effective residents group chat throughout the whole crisis. The home always puts the needs of residents and their families first, and during 2020, they invested in a superb visitors 'pod' that met and went beyond Government guidelines in order to facilitate continued visits. This has been brilliant for the well-being and peace of mind of both residents and families, as it has enabled us all to see our loved ones through very challenging times. The staff at St John's are always friendly and welcoming, and they take a genuine interest in seeking feedback about the service they provide in order to ensure residents are happy and well looked after. I am delighted that Mum is in their care.
My mother-in-law has been a resident at St Jonh's since December 2019 and has received a consistently high level of care throughout this period. Due to Covid, St John's has had to overcome a number of serious issues, and the staff have at all times showed compassion to both resident and relatives and maintained their high standards.
The staff have been so professional in their approach to Covid, making sure that everyone is safe at all times. Due to the distances involved, I have not been able to visit, but staff are always available to set up a Whatsapp video link. I receive regular updates of events and activities (which are many) and photographs too, which are great when you can't be there in person.
Mum continues to tell me how lovely all the staff are and how "nothing is too much trouble, you only have to ask". She is certainly very happy and is kept occupied with all the organised activities. I never thought I'd see my mother flower arranging!
Great service from a great team.
Throughout the Covid-19 scenario, the staff have gone above and beyond in their efforts to keep the residents safe. The visiting pod has been excellent in maintaining weekly visits, and the recent face to face and hand-holding sessions have enabled relationships with loved ones to be rekindled. My mother is well cared for, and although doesn't join in with the activities anymore, she is always grateful for the time spent helping her, and she especially looks forward to mealtimes where she can't rate the food highly enough.
The staff were always very kind and considerate, and I know that hasn’t changed, despite the challenges they have faced due to Covid etc. My mum, although confused, has been an extremely independent person, and I was concerned that she may not settle... I needn’t have worried. During our phone calls, she tells me how lovely all the girls are, and says they can’t do enough for her. There is a real family atmosphere, plus beautiful surroundings.
Add to that the wonderful food (Mum had lost interest in food before respite), and I think I may have trouble getting her to come home!
Thank you everyone at St John's, for all your hard work and care, which is enabling me to have a break, and keeping Mum safe. I would happily recommend you to my friends and family.
The staff team are fantastic; they have and continue to give time to my mum to listen to any concerns or worries she may have and to reassure her. They are very good at maintaining regular communication with myself regarding Mum, and nothing is ever too much for them.
The home has continued to offer day activities throughout the pandemic, which has been brilliant, and the caring attitude of all the staff has been wonderful.
The home has been Covid-free, which is a fantastic achievement and shows the staffs dedication and commitment to their job and the residents they look after!
The visiting pod has worked extremely well and is to a very high standard. Face to face visits is shortly to commence in accordance with government guidelines.
Mum continues to enjoy the lovely food and takes part in a varied range of activities.
I have total confidence in the way Mum is cared for and in recommending St John’s.
