My mother in law has been resident at St John's since December 2019 and has been looked after with superb care and attention at all times. The staff are brilliant and her and all the residents', welfare is at the top of their agenda. As we approach this 2nd lockdown they had sorted an amazing airtight room for us all to visit our loved ones. So lovely to see them again at no risk to them or us. When or if the time comes I'll be booking my place there!

St. John's House started its preparations for the Coronavirus Pandemic back in February 2020. Anticipating likely lack of government support, they invested in quality PPE for staff from the beginning.
Throughout, there has been a health and safety COVID-19 regime, to protect residents and staff from contracting the disease. Visits are allowed, under strict 2 metre distancing with a visiting relative for 30 minutes, indoors in a large room if the weather does not permit outside visits.
In August, the staff organised a Beach Party, with residents making the decor and everybody involved. Raffle and a visit from Mr. Whippy to the grounds, which are extensive as the house is in a rural setting.

Relatives and staff are kept informed and consulted on a regular basis about house rules, and how to protect our loved ones. Even if that means quarantine, following an outside (hospital) visit, until a negative test can reduce the 14 Days. Highly recommended.

Mum came to stay for a period of respite at St John's in a particularly difficult and challenging time for all.
The team put our minds at rest having taken all necessary precautions/testing, etc. with no Covid-19 cases being present.
After Mum's initial settling in/getting familiar with her surroundings, she loved it at St John's.
Mum's room was delightful on the ground floor, allowing her access to the beautifully tendered gardens whenever the mood took her. Mum is a bit of a country girl at heart and loved the wildlife in the gardens and the flowers. The train between York and Harrogate made her reminisce of the milk and coal train her and her four brothers used to see as children, picking coal off the tracks for home [this was after the war when everything was on ration!]
It was good that I could still visit mum too, even with the horrid Covid-19 going on.
It was very reassuring to know Mum was safe and happy whilst at St John's House.

Thank you for making Mum happy.

Amazing caring staff who always go the extra mile and have indeed been steadfast during the covid19 pandemic.

Mum is happy and settled and loves the staff! The accommodation is outstanding immaculately clean and every area is welcoming. Visitors are welcomed like extended family and the home honours an open door policy, we are encouraged to visit at any time on any day. My family and l celebrate each day that we were lucky enough to relocate Mum to St John's.

Outstanding care for my mum of the past two and a half years. Their actions during the pandemic have been outstanding- for example, purchasing PPE on a continued basis from late January- a precautionary investment that proved to place St. John’s ahead of many other homes, and sadly even the NHS!

Whilst the situation has been very worrying, their safe practices have contained and eradicated any risks, whilst proving their usual high standards of love and care.

My mum has been a resident at St John's for nearly 3 years, she gets the best care and everyone goes the extra mile. During the lockdown, the staff have all made WhatsApp facetime calls to our loved ones, and we now can have visits, socially distancing in the garden. My mum is extremely well cared for and is very happy there.

My mum, who is aged 89 and crippled with Arthritis, became too infirm for the family to look after. Very reluctantly we were forced to make the decision, with her full agreement, to relocate her from The Channel Islands to St John’s Care Home which is in the village of her childhood and where she spent almost all her adult life.
From the moment I walked into St John’s I immediately felt the warmth and care of the staff - it felt like walking into a rather upmarket family home-from-home.
My mum settled in immediately and was made to feel so welcome by every staff member. The food is delicious and there is relevant entertainment most days with lovely private gardens for outdoor walks and afternoon tea. The care, patience and empathy for the residents is outstanding. My mum has been a resident at St John’s for almost 12 months now and during that time she has received impeccable service from the lovely staff.

I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending all the staff at St John’s House!

My mum moved into St John's a couple of years ago - she is a very independent person and we were so worried how this difficult transition from being a house owner to being a resident would go. From the moment she moved in, it became her home, due to the warmth, kindness and respect she was given by the whole team. As relatives, it’s kind of like a second home to us too. During the COVID-19 crisis, the management of St. John’s ensured that both residents and staff were provided with all they needed to feel safe and confident during a time of high anxiety and turmoil. The protective measures were put in place immediately and the team were way ahead of most places. As a family, we have felt so included and well informed; communications simply could not have been better. I applaud St John's, both the management and the incredible team, for all they have done and continue to do to keep our loved ones not only safe, but to keep them happy and engaged through such a challenging period. Thank you!

My father has been at St John's for 11 months, and thanks to the care he has received has lived longer than expected by his doctor. St John's is outstanding in every way, and what is most difficult to describe is the atmosphere. I visit regularly at all times of the day, and each time there is a friendly welcome by the team, they use my name and make me feel welcome. They are not only kind and utterly professional but bring humour and fun to their profession. During the pandemic when we are all aware of the issues in care homes, St John's consistently goes above and beyond to keep everyone safe and well. We have regular updates and photos, they make video calls so I can chat face to face, and today for the second time they provided access to my dad for us to meet in the garden. I could not wish for him to be anywhere else. He is content, happy, cared for and in his own words said "You don't have to worry about me being here, I've got everything I need, it's lovely"

My mother has been on her own for the last 28 years. The last 8 or 10 years, she has really struggled to look after herself since she stopped driving. She also became isolated and lonely. Since moving into St John's House almost 2 years ago, she has thrived, made new friends, joined in many activities and is once again enjoying her "extra" twilight years. Thanks to the wonderful management and staff of St John's House.

Mum was in St John's House, for some respite care during August 2019. From the start, we were so pleased with her room, the homely environment and 'country house hotel' situation. Mum was delighted to stay there. Moreover, the staff were so kind, understanding, attentive and accommodated many of mum's friend and relatives, who came to visit. A wonderful place.
