Surrounded by stunning countryside, and with great access to local amenities and the A1, Leeming Bar Grange is a warm and inviting residence situated between the North York Moors and Yorkshire Dales National Parks. The home offers residential, nursing, respite, palliative, and dementia care. With 60 bedrooms divided between their care units, they think carefully about the type of room each resident needs.

Bedrooms are set across two floors, and each floor has two of its own lounges and dining rooms, there is also a conservatory and reminiscence room, meaning peace and quiet is never far away. All furnishings and décor throughout the home are of an exceptionally high standard. They also have an acre of beautiful landscaped gardens with bench seating and tables and chairs, perfect for outdoor socialising.

Chefs prepare fresh, quality, and nutritional food on-site and residents are able to choose from a daily menu. Particular requests are taken into account as far as is possible, and special dietary requirements will be catered for. Residents may eat together or in their rooms depending on their preference.

A dedicated Activities Coordinator plans regular events and outings, working in close consultation with residents and families to ensure all residents remain stimulated.

My mum went into the home for respite care while we installed a more user-friendly bathroom in her apartment and while she was a little apprehensive for a couple of days she soon settled, joining in the craft activities, singing when the choir came in and dancing. Mum is 91 and was diagnosed with Alzheimer's
at the beginning of the year. When she came home she said she would go back again. She was well looked after, the food was good and everyone was friendly and kind to her and she made a friend who we will be going back to visit.

Been visiting for over two years. I have always found all staff to be pleasant, helpful and welcoming, especially the reception staff who remember names which adds a personal touch.
Management was always helpful to resolve any issues no matter how small. Resident I have been visiting has sadly died,
but her end of life care package was so dignified and human. A credit to those involved in her care, making a difficult situation easier to cope with.

The staff all appear well trained in dealing with dementia and don't give up when my husband is uncooperative. The interior is a little tired, but I can overlook that if the care is good.
I admire the staff for giving the appearance of calm, even on a difficult day!
The food is excellent and more
is always a choice.
Drinks (as in juice) need more monitoring. Despite these observations, I am happy my husband is here.

My mother has been a resident at Leeming Bar Grange Care Home for 20 months and settled in very quickly. She has told me that she is very happy living at the care home. She enjoys participating in the activities at the home and particularly enjoys visits from Jack the dog and the miniature ponies.
My sister and I are generally happy with the care my mother receives at the care home.

Caring staff and modern facilities. My mother-in-law has advanced dementia, but the staff still try to engage her in activities and encourage her to sit in the lounge with the other residents. The staff are adaptable to her needs and ensure that we are informed of any developments.

Both my parents moved into the care home within a few weeks of each other (March 2018/April 2018). The first few months in the home were difficult for both my parents, who found it very difficult to adjust to life in a home. My mum was diagnosed with Vascular Dementia and needed extra support. Both
my parents were encouraged to join in with a number of weekly activities, especially the singing which they really enjoyed and life became a little easier. Sadly, my mum passed away in July, the staff that looked after Mum have been incredibly supportive to my dad, brother and myself. Dad has been greatly affected by Mum's death and I am grateful for the support and care that he is receiving by members of the staff at Brighterkind. He is closely monitored and my brother and I are updated regularly regarding his progress. Communication between the home and myself has improved over the last few months.

My mother is clearly very happy in the home and gets on well with the staff. She likes being able to sit outdoors in the garden when the weather is fine. She always seems busy and has enjoyed the activities on offer. She likes seeing the therapy dog and talks about him. I always get a friendly welcome
when I visit and so do other members of my family.

The staff are all very caring and the food is good. I do find that communication is a problem. It would be very helpful to have a nominated key worker for each resident. As regards activities they are limited at the moment upstairs. It would be very nice if music could be played in the sitting room
as often happens downstairs. Armchair exercises would also be desirable on a regular basis. In the summer it would be good if residents could be taken outside to sit under the nice umbrellas or walk around the excellent gardens. It is nice to see the windows upstairs are usually open in fine weather.

I have found the home is kept very clean and free from smells. The staff are very good and do their best under great difficulty. The meals are presented with dignity to the residents and I would recommend this home to anyone who has someone suffering from dementia.

Leeming Bar Grange is on first impression a clean, hygienic, modern and well-constructed care home. The staff are very welcoming operating an "open door" policy which is very reassuring, we are welcome to visit at any time we wish which helps fit in with work hours and other family commitments. My Dad
has a very nice room with an en suite and everything is maintained to a high standard and kept immaculately clean on a daily basis. The room is very well equipped for his particular needs, taking into account his safety and comfort. The staff are very friendly, helpful and polite to our family and very caring of my father and they also are keen to maintain dignity and to always treat my father with respect. He is showered, shaved and dressed each morning and changed if necessary during the day. The staff are very positive and enjoy a joke with my father which has been a great help in settling him into the home. At first, he was very subdued but the staff soon improved his humour.

From our original look around, we were impressed with the facilities and friendliness of the staff.
The resident has been happy here for respite care and appreciated the opportunity to see use the garden and move around the building in his wheelchair.

Very enjoyable 11 day stay here.

Each room has an ensuite.
The food is lovely.
Sometimes have to wait quite a while to get doors to the garden open as staff are busy.

Mum has been at Leeming Bar Grange Care Home for just over two years. We have been continually impressed by the level of care and kindness shown to her. Staff are always prepared to go the extra mile. We have specific praise for the activities provided. If we have one small concern it is about personal
hygiene, particularly nails they are sometimes dirty.

Here is an opportunity to look at some of our staff team in the home, who all play a vital role in day-to-day life.


I have worked for the healthcare sector for over 14 years and bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the home. Within my previous role, I supported eight care homes to maintain and deliver training. Over the last two years, I have continued to expand my knowledge and support the homes in various different capacities and this has given me the drive to take on this new role. I am excited to work with the team at Leeming Bar Grange to continue to deliver the premier standard of care and to build strong working relations with the team and stakeholders involved.


The quality of care that all my residents receive is my passion and I aim to ensure that all the residents in my care receive the best and most person-centred care possible.
