The Millings has literally been a lifesaver for my mother. Unfortunately, my mother needed 24/7 care in the middle of the Covid pandemic. I cannot speak highly enough of the staff and care my mother has been given; so professional, nothing is too much, good communication skills. Anybody considering
care for a loved one should definitely take a look, beautifully appointed, with well-maintained gardens, friendly staff and residents, with an extra special mention to the activities ladies they have kept the residents going through Covid, a very difficult task! 5* in every way.

My Mum went into The Millings in September this year. She has previously stayed there for three weeks in January and after staying in another home, she said that's where she wanted to go. She has been very happy and settled. Her blood tests have returned to normal as a result of diligent medication
administration by the staff at The Millings so this is a great weight off my mind. She made friends and even been dancing! There's always something going on but equally, there are quiet places if you want to rest. The place is lovely and comfortable and the staff are excellent - I'd be happy there myself!

We did a lot of research into care homes before deciding where Mum might be happiest. Everyone we asked spoke very highly of The Millings, we did not hear one negative comment. Our local GP said she had always heard excellent reports. Mum has now been at The Millings for two years and is happy, busy
and extremely well looked after. The staff love their work and there is a great deal of affection between them and their elderly folk. We were struck by how much laughter there is, always. There are activities every day, quizzes, games, outings. Since Covid 19 they have been well ahead of the curve, protective equipment, distancing etc -- they have done fantastically well. The care offered by The Millings is exemplary, we could not be happier. Thank you!

My mother has been in The Millings since mid-2015 and she has always been very happy and extremely well looked after. Since the COVID-19 outbreak, I have been seriously impressed with how The Millings team have taken such absolute care in ensuring the safety of the residents and staff were not compromised.
Well done to all The Millings team and thank you!

My mother has been a resident for nearly two years, she chose to live at The Millings and would only consider a room there. She has been happy particularly as she could bring her own bed and some furniture. The staff are always very helpful and caring especially in these difficult times and always keep
us well informed while we cannot visit. No hesitation in recommending this excellent home.

The Millings has been brilliant throughout the lockdown. They have provided their own PPE from the start, and staff have given their all to the residents throughout this pandemic. Information and communication with relatives have been good and informative.
Arrangements were made for residents to
video call their relatives where possible to enable them to keep in touch with the outside world. I feel throughout this lockdown that my mother is in the safest place possible for her needs.

My auntie has been at The Millings for over 2 years and we have not on any occasion had to complain about anything.
The place is immaculate and the carers are wonderful. She is always well dressed with attention to detail i.e matching jewellery with her clothes. Always clean and well looked after.

The Millings always looks smart and clean and great care is taken to make sure it always smells clean too.
The staff are cheerful and from the domestic staff to the carers, they all talk and interact with the residents.
The staff I've known for a long time have come to feel like friends.
As my father
has needed more support, the staff at The Millings have stepped in and increased the levels of care as needed.

My mother has now been a resident for seven months and has now settled in well. Before deciding on The Millings I visited several other homes in the area and chose The Millings because it was head and shoulders above any other home. There is a lovely atmosphere throughout the home and on my regular
visits, I have always found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. Mam is very well looked after and is happy at The Millings.

We had heard a lot about The Millings in recommendations but all of our expectations have been exceeded. The level of care, the staff's level of understanding in the complex path of elderly care has been outstanding. They have helped my mum and myself on every level. Nothing has been too much trouble.
They have taken so much time to get to know my mum and provide for her an excellent level of care. Thank you seems too small a phrase to express our gratitude, but know it is heartfelt.

Current Review Score: 8.5 (8.468)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.5 (8.468) out of 10 for The Millings is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.9 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.593 for The Millings is calculated as follows: ( (43 Excellents x 5) + (9 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 59 Ratings = 4.593
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.875 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Millings is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 8 = 0.5
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
