The Millings always looks smart and clean and great care is taken to make sure it always smells clean too.
The staff are cheerful and from the domestic staff to the carers, they all talk and interact with the residents.
The staff I've known for a long time have come to feel like friends.
As my father
has needed more support, the staff at The Millings have stepped in and increased the levels of care as needed.

My mother has now been a resident for seven months and has now settled in well. Before deciding on The Millings I visited several other homes in the area and chose The Millings because it was head and shoulders above any other home. There is a lovely atmosphere throughout the home and on my regular
visits, I have always found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. Mam is very well looked after and is happy at The Millings.

We had heard a lot about The Millings in recommendations but all of our expectations have been exceeded. The level of care, the staff's level of understanding in the complex path of elderly care has been outstanding. They have helped my mum and myself on every level. Nothing has been too much trouble.
They have taken so much time to get to know my mum and provide for her an excellent level of care. Thank you seems too small a phrase to express our gratitude, but know it is heartfelt.

I have lived in The Millings for 2 years and cannot fault it.
The staff are angels and nothing is too much trouble for them.
The owners are frequently on site and take a great personal interest in all of us and are constantly making improvements.
It is a lovely old building and the beautiful gardens
are a bonus.

I have visited The Millings over many years and have always found staff polite and helpful to both myself and residents. The residents love to chat and are also very welcoming.
The atmosphere is always cheerful. Meals are very good and they offer a choice if needed.
It is a lovely residential home
with lots of activities and events going on with interesting variety.
Crafts, outings, coffee mornings and even some residents get support to do marathons.

Out of all the homes we visited The Millings is the exception above the rest, the friendly staff, beautiful rooms and decor and above all the way they interact with each individual resident make it feel like home for them. I will be putting my name down when I need to move into a care home.

My mother has been a resident of The Millings since late June 2017. All the staff have made her very welcome and she has settled well. All her needs are catered for and they are very aware of all the residents. The activities are wide and varied which covers all the needs and are always taken with great
enthusiasm. In fact, The Millings is like a country hotel for older people!

I cannot praise The Millings enough for their care and attention to detail for the care they show to the residents. The staff go above and beyond their duty of care as nothing is too much trouble. Whenever I visit I hear laughter and fun being the order of the day! I haven't sampled the food but I am
informed that it is of the best quality, being like home cooking and very nicely presented. Overall a home from home which is all we could wish for.

My mother-in-law moved into The Millings in January 2015 following a dementia diagnosis and being able to cope living alone. The transition was very easy and she settled very quickly. All the staff are really caring and look after her so well. The food is great and all the social activities keep her
busy and she enjoys. This has made the situation so easy for my husband to deal with.

For almost three years The Millings has provided a comfortable, friendly home for my mother who had become unable to remain in her own home. Mum is assisted as necessary with needs and encouraged by the staff to remain as independent as possible, despite suffering debilitating sight loss and mobility
issues. She enjoys the varied choice of appetising meals provided and importantly she takes these in the dining room with the company of other residents. There are many stimulating activities, outings to places of interest or visits by outside agencies to The Millings. Together with the "behind the scenes" network of staff employed at the home, this is a dynamic and forward thinking residence for those who live there and those who visit.

Current Review Score: 9.3 (9.300)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.300) out of 10 for The Millings is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.650 for The Millings is calculated as follows: ( (74 Excellents x 5) + (18 Goods x 4) + (7 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 100 Ratings = 4.65
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.65 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Millings is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 = 3.65
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8, which has been reached with 8 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
