Birchlands Care Home

Thank you all at Birchlands.

My father stayed in Birchlands for six weeks and received excellent end of life care. All of the staff were always kind, knowledgeable, pleasant and helpful. They went out of their way to make sure my Dad was comfortable and settled, his room was always clean and tidy. I was always informed of my Dads condition and what staff were doing to keep him comfortable. On the days my Dad wanted company but was feeling too poorly to join in the activities in the downstairs lounge the entertainment staff played dominoes with him in his room. Nothing was too much trouble, on the days I was unable to visit I felt reassured that my Dad was being compassionately cared for. As Birchlands took such good care of him I could go back to being my Dads daughter and not just his carer. The excellent staff helped me take my Dad on outings and make more memories with him. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Birchlands to other families.

Since I have been coming to Birchlands I have been very impressed with the whole facility. The staff have always been welcoming, friendly and helpful. The cleanliness is commendable. The home has a light, airy modern feel. We are totally grateful for the care offered and have no concerns for our brothers care or welfare. I would highly reccomend.

I and my wife are in constant contact with Birchlands to see a loved one, twice a week. Birchlands, decorated to a high standard, is kept clean and tidy by busy support workers. They and nurses can be called upon to give help when we need them. Apart from protected meal times, we can visit any time without booking. He's well and as well as one expect, considering he had a major strokes. So we need not worry about him, although we do; it's natural. Birchlands understand this; hence, are patient and accommadating when we ask our many questions about his health and how he is doing. He's doing fine at Birchlands.

Helpful, friendly approachable staff. The wide range of activities are particularly appreciated.

The manager is very approachable, especially if you have any concerns. Her door is always open, and she's always willing to help.

We particularly valued the phone calls from staff keeping us updated on Mary's condition.

The only concern I did have was that Mum wasn't taken out side enough in her wheelchair. She would have benefitted from the fresh air and she loved having coffees in the local cafes.

I love they reception of this old persons property in pictures and inreal life the Manager's office they water dispenser all get great score.

Mum has been a resident at Birchlands since December 2024. The care and support she has received has been fantastic and it has been a huge comfort to know she is local to us and so well cared for 24 hours a day. The nursing staff have always kept us upto date with mum's health etc and it's been very reassuring. The home has been undergoing renovations and it's great to see reinvestment in the home and facilities. I've had absolutely no doubt that mum has been absolutely in the best hands throughout her stay. I would have no hesitation in recommending the home to anyone considering it for a family member.

Birchlands staff look after my wife and keep me informed. We have both had experience of other care homes as both a resident and visitors. This is the best one we have experienced. My wife, now 76 and was diagnosed with early onset dementia when she was 61. It has now progressed to Alzheimers and Bichlands can still provide excellent care for her.

My mother in law came in on EOL care and the care she received was exceptional. The staff were always happy to help, friendly and always made us feel welcome. In my mother in law's final hours we couldn't ask for better.

We, as a family, are so very lucky to have the peace of mind that Mum is here, being cared for by a team that has real compassion for all the residents and relatives. No concern or worry about my mum and her health is ever too much, the manager is always on hand to talk about Mum for which is am grateful and last week put things in place instantly after a conversation concerning Mum's dementia. This works really well being able to pop in and see the manager, it puts my mind at rest. I have confidence in her and her team when it's the care of my mum, then it's priceless.

I visit my nana roughly once per month, the facilities are always clean and welcoming, and the staff are kind, approachable and informative with updates about nana's condition and also what activities have been going on. The staff are smiley and able to keep the atmosphere light, which I feel is a necessary skill when my nana's mood can shift so suddenly with her dementia. My nana is on the nursing floor, the nurses in particular are very knowledgeable with her conditions.

I am so glad I chose Birchlands. Thank you all.
