Excellent care, staff and management. Home is clean and tidy and laundry service efficient. The resident does not wish to be involved in communal activities but would prefer more one to one input.

Service could be more personalised to his needs and interests.

Kindness and support is paramount. I have absolutely no worries concerning the care etc of my husband. If all care homes were of this quality we would be extremely fortunate. I thank every one of them just for being there for both of us.

My mother was admitted to Birchlands late February 2017 being admitted to the top floor at Birchlands Nursing Home. All the staff on the top floor under the supervision of a lady have done more for our mother than we could have ever done. We are extremely grateful for their care and loving attention they give. Nothing has been too much trouble.

My father is a now a resident at Birchlands, after previously receiving weekday day care there. We could not possibly be happier with the kindness, care and respect that is shown to him. It's like being part of a family, and the second-floor carers are an absolute credit to their profession and to Birchlands. Dad is comfortable, clean, well-fed and above all, happy. The environment is light, airy and scrupulously clean, as is Dad's bedroom. The food is home-cooked, varied and nutritious. Activities are available and Dad has been to the downstairs lounge for a couple of concerts. He also enjoys visits from the therapy dog. It's the staff however that make Birchlands what it is, from the carers to the management, the office staff, cleaners and the cook. Everyone is kind and welcoming. As well as the care given to the residents, they support the families too. Thank you Birchlands. We are so lucky to have found you!

I visit my friend very regularly, at least twice a week.
When I visit the staff are always very courteous and welcoming.
The atmosphere is good, in fact, it is kind.
My friend is quite a private lady but the staff just seem to make her feel that they care and she usually responds.

I wish them well.

My late mother lived at Birchlands for just over a year. Although she had great reluctance to move into care she immediately settled. The staff treated her with immense care and dignity and in my late mum's words like a "lady". Her diet improved the food presented to her was nutritious and the choices were immense. The home itself was clean and tidy and the laundry taken well care off. My brothers and sisters had such peace of mind when mum was living at Birchlands.

The staff are so kind and supportive we are extremely happy with the care and they make us feel welcome any time of day. My uncle is very happy and he thinks the staff are wonderful as they are a family unit and approachable and make him laugh.

Birchlands Nursing Home has a very warm, welcoming environment. The staff are generally very attentive and caring. Mum has settled well, although initially struggled to accept being a permanent resident, the staff during this time were so supportive. Mum has bonded well with some staff in particular which not only helped mum but us as a family too. There is always someone on hand to chat with any concerns or general questions.

Both my grandparents are resident at Birchlands (just coming up to a year in February). When they moved in they hadn't seen each other for 4 weeks as they had both fallen at home, grandad came straight from the hospital and gran from respite care. I visited them on the first night and it was good to see them back together again. The transition couldn't have been any better. The staff wanted to know all about them and made me feel welcome. The staff are approachable and provide answers to my questions I'm never left not knowing.

The food is good and is enjoyed by both, especially grandad who requires a soft diet. (He would be the first to tell them and me if he didn't like anything)

The activities are good, gran always has a smile on her face when telling me what she has been up to.

I visit twice a week and it is reassuring to know that they are both being looked after.

Thank you to all the staff for everything that you do, your all stars.

I would recommend Birchlands.

We had to move my mum into another care home due to the closure of the home she was in. My sister and I went to view Birchlands Nursing Home and we were both impressed with the welcome my mum and ourselves were given.
They showed my mum the room she would be in and a week later we moved her in.

All our family are extremely happy with the care our mother is given and it is a big emotional upheaval when you have to move homes but mum has settled and looks really well.

Home is a pleasant place to visit. It feels like mums home now. Lovely location, nice peaceful setting. Having experienced caring for mum in her own home we feel mum is now in a safe/secure place it has reduced our stress levels considerably. Mum seems happy and content. We can see mum understands that she is safe and there is help and support around her. A friend recently visited mum and was extremely impressed with the home and how content mum was. It has really given us our lives back!

Birchlands is a warm and friendly home. The staff are kind and caring. Birchlands is clean and nicely decorated and is a home from home. It has a welcoming atmosphere. I know that my mother is being well looked after and is safe and comfortable there, she has improved in her general wellbeing and physical strength because of the stimulation of being with other people. She can walk around using her walking frame and I know she is safe and the staff keep an eye on her. This has given her more confidence and made her more independent which is lovely for me to see.
