My wife of 59 years has been in nursing care at Birchlands for six months. At the outset, it is very difficult to hand over the care of someone you have cared for yourself for such a long time. In that respect, I need not have worried. From the manager right down through every layer of staff I could
not find a more caring, loving and respectful set of people. And that goes for relatives and friends of the one being cared for too. I was made most welcome from the start and given all the help I needed to cope with such a traumatic and unexpected experience. Her room is comfortable and warm and cleaned every day with meticulous care. The nurses and carers are attentive to her every need and she herself in her own way expresses her thanks for their kindness to her. Daily visits are encouraged. Covid precautions are rigidly applied. Thanks for a wonderful service.

From the manager to the care staff, kitchen staff, domestic staff and activities are all heroes in my eyes. This last year has been extremely difficult to deal with but all the staff went above and beyond to keep the residents safe healthy and happy nothing was too much trouble my mum and dad were both
in Birchlands mum for a short time but that didn't make any difference she was welcomed with open arms and everyone took great care of her dad he was little longer and again the same his needs were met by the staff for someone who we thought wouldn't settle in a home he did and this was due to the staff around him the activities, particularly on a daily basis, really helped dad this is a very homely welcoming home where the staff really do care.

I wanted to share with you my sincere appreciation for how my mum, and all of the other residents, have been taken care of since the lockdown in March. It's apparent that the love and dedication of all the staff and in particular the benefits bestowed upon them from having a member of staff who adapted
so quickly to the distancing restrictions in introducing the technology so that we could keep in touch with our loved ones by video calling, posting on Facebook, etc. and of course it goes without saying that the decisions taken early on in the Pandemic by the management have been superb and I want to thank them all for keeping our mum safe. Thank you.

Birchlands care home has a wonderfully warm and homely atmosphere, from the moment you walk in and are greeted by the lady on reception to all the care staff. It was the best decision we made to move our mother from the Isle of Man all the way to Haxby as she felt at home straight away thank to the
warmth of her welcome.
Unfortunately, my mother died after only 4 months at Birchlands but it was a very happy 4 months full of laughter and fun and my mother was treated with dignity and warmth.

On reflection, since time has passed, I think my wife and I were lucky to find a place here for my Mother in Law. Nice room, lovely staff all around. Good food. Very good care of personal needs. Staff always ready to help with any problems. Always nice and clean. Plenty of activities to choose from.
Outings, cake making, walks to a local pond in a wheelchair. Smashing care all around.

Since my Aunty came to Birchlands she seems very settled and a hit with the staff. Kindness and support is paramount. I have absolutely no worries concerning the care etc of my husband. If all care homes were of this quality we would be extremely fortunate. I thank every one of them just for being there for both of us.

My mother was admitted to Birchlands late February 2017 being admitted to the top floor at Birchlands Nursing Home. All the staff on the top floor under the supervision of a lady have done more for our mother than we could have ever done. We are extremely grateful for their care and loving attention
they give. Nothing has been too much trouble.

My father is a now a resident at Birchlands, after previously receiving weekday day care there. We could not possibly be happier with the kindness, care and respect that is shown to him. It's like being part of a family, and the second-floor carers are an absolute credit to their profession and to Birchlands.
Dad is comfortable, clean, well-fed and above all, happy. The environment is light, airy and scrupulously clean, as is Dad's bedroom. The food is home-cooked, varied and nutritious. Activities are available and Dad has been to the downstairs lounge for a couple of concerts. He also enjoys visits from the therapy dog. It's the staff however that make Birchlands what it is, from the carers to the management, the office staff, cleaners and the cook. Everyone is kind and welcoming. As well as the care given to the residents, they support the families too. Thank you Birchlands. We are so lucky to have found you!
