I only wished the care available in Portugal, where I live, were as good.
The kitchen staff always accommodated Mams fussy appetite and the laundry staff always took care with Mams clothing. Any requests we had were always dealt with promptly. The end of life care was so compassionate and I will be eternally grateful to the outstanding staff at Armstrong House.
The staff genuinely loved my nan and that has shown over the last few weeks especially, some of them even used to call her auntie or nana and that would make her smile. During her end of life, the staff were amazing with my family caring for us and supporting us at all times in a very personal way. Armstrong House is like a family and I couldn't be more thankful for everything they have done and for that, I will always be grateful. Amazing.

I’m a Registered Nurse with over 25 years of experience in care home management.
I’ve achieved my Level 4 in Management training and am also a qualified mental health first aider.
I have experience working for large care providers and care homes, including looking after a multi-site home that I helped to turn around from a Requires Improvement rating to Good in all areas within six months. I joined Care UK after hearing great things and wanting to become part of the team.
My role is centred around making sure residents and families are happy, and my favourite part of my job is spending time with residents and their relatives. In this role, it’s important to be open, friendly and outgoing. I believe the Home Manager needs to be a people person, have an open-door policy and always be approachable.
As a team, we support each other like a family through good times and bad. I feel proud of what we do when residents are happy in the home.
I like reading and doing crafts when I’m not working. I also enjoy spending time with my family.
