Eighton Lodge is a stunning 19th century home which sits in 1.5 acres of private land directly opposite the Angel of the North. The 36 bedroom suites are designed to give residents luxury, privacy and independence. The home prides itself on providing expert, tailored care in a relaxed, friendly and comfortable setting. With sumptuous views and award-winning gardens, Eighton Lodge is set in semi-rural surroundings and offers exquisite luxury and comfort.

At Eighton Lodge, staff the importance of recreational activities, and with a dedicated activities coordinator who plans each day based on the lifestyle preferences and abilities of the residents, there is a full programme of events available, both in and out of the home.

Also, set in the beautiful grounds of Eighton Lodge is The Manor, a groundbreaking home dedicated to young onset dementia. Whilst all Wellburn care homes, including Eighton Lodge, provide dementia care, The Manor focuses on providing age-appropriate care for those aged 65 and under who are living with young onset dementia, and whose needs are vastly different compared to older people with the condition.

The Manor at Eighton Lodge is the only dedicated young onset home in its region, and has been specifically designed to help each client achieve the perfect balance between independence and support. Its spaces include 8 bedroom suites, a fully fitted, dementia-sensitive kitchen, a decked terrace and dining area, and an exclusive private garden.

The Manor offers day care, respite stays and permanent placements. The day care services operate seven days a week and run through from 8am to 6pm, with entirely flexible pick-up and drop-off times depending on your needs.

My mam is well cared for. Showered or washed daily, very well fed and drinks (tea, water, pop) anytime day or night. All staff are very well organised when it comes to residents' needs; meal times, bedtimes, personal hygiene etc. I would most definitely recommend this care home (Eighton Lodge) to everyone.

My mother has been a resident for just over a year. Like many families, you never expect to be, or want to think about, putting one of your parents in a care home. The first day was literally like taking your child to school for the first day, then worrying about how they get on when you've gone! I
had nothing to worry about. My mother has Alzheimer's, amongst other things, so she'll always complain about something! When things have gone wrong, or there's been issues, the manager and his team have been first-class in addressing any issues or concerns. Of course it's not perfect and mistakes do happen, but the sign of a great place is how you deal with this. Again, any issues have always been dealt with to, not only my mother's expectations, but mine as well. My mother regularly says (when she's not complaining!) 'I love it here, I love the lasses and my room'. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place to anyone who is looking for somewhere to leave a loved one.

Eighton Lodge is a lovely, happy place. Staff and carers can't do enough for the residents and we, as a family, like the way they involve us in everything they do. The staff and carers keep the residents well entertained in doing activities with them all. I was concerned in Mam having to go into care,
but we are extremely happy in the care and support she gets. She is happy in herself too. Can't thank them enough for their care.

Mum came in very worried but everyone has been so lovely to her. Very attentive to her every need. The food has been excellent. The room was more than adequate for her needs. The only negative point is the level of noise but that depends on what room you are in.

My friend has a variety of complex health requirements. He has been hospitalised on numerous occasions recently and as a result, is very frail and requires 24-hour care. The management care and ancillary staff are always approachable, compassionate and supportive. Even though staff are extremely busy
they make time for everyone - always with a smile. When I leave my friend after a visit I feel that he is in safe hands. Eighton Lodge is the care home with the big heart!

When I viewed the home I was assured that mam would be well looked after and I would not need to worry about her and she would receive two hourly checks as mam cannot walk and is doubly incontinent. From day one there were issues and the two hourly checks never happened.
I visited mam five days a
week for four hours at a time. These hours increased to five to six plus as the issues escalated and our concerns grew. I met with the area manager and voiced all the issues and my concerns but even after that meeting issues still continued. I received my response on the 11th of November at 9.56 am. I was given reassurances that Wellburn was taking appropriate action with the staff involved and that communications took place with the staff advising them that immediate improvements in standards were required. That same day I received the response I arrived at mam's room to still find more issues. Mam ended up in hospital with pneumonia, dehydrated with low potassium and sodium levels. I called the GP on the day.

I have worked in palliative care and a care home also. But I am surprised how this care home is still allowed to operate to government guidelines.No supervision on the first floor and I personally cried listening to a resident pleading for help and was totally ignored when the staff member passed her
door. Please don’t put your loved ones in this home or Wellburn Care. They are a disgrace to the care sector.

I cannot wait to rescue my mother from this home and Wellburn Care in general. The manager is brilliant but has no support from the above management who to them it’s a business and a cash cow to them. It's entirely your prerogative if you are happy to not listen to my warning but good luck if you don’t.

My mother is very well looked after. All the staff are friendly and very helpful. I have stopped worrying about her and know she is safe. She is always clean and tidy. She loves the staff and always praises them.

Having worked in the care sector for 14 years before joining Wellburn, Kalee brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in providing excellent residential care.
