Eighton Lodge is a stunning 19th century home which sits in 1.5 acres of private land directly opposite the Angel of the North. The 36 bedroom suites are designed to give residents luxury, privacy and independence. The home prides itself on providing expert, tailored care in a relaxed, friendly and comfortable setting. With sumptuous views and award-winning gardens, Eighton Lodge is set in semi-rural surroundings and offers exquisite luxury and comfort.

At Eighton Lodge, staff the importance of recreational activities, and with a dedicated activities coordinator who plans each day based on the lifestyle preferences and abilities of the residents, there is a full programme of events available, both in and out of the home.

Also, set in the beautiful grounds of Eighton Lodge is The Manor, a groundbreaking home dedicated to young onset dementia. Whilst all Wellburn care homes, including Eighton Lodge, provide dementia care, The Manor focuses on providing age-appropriate care for those aged 65 and under who are living with young onset dementia, and whose needs are vastly different compared to older people with the condition.

The Manor at Eighton Lodge is the only dedicated young onset home in its region, and has been specifically designed to help each client achieve the perfect balance between independence and support. Its spaces include 8 bedroom suites, a fully fitted, dementia-sensitive kitchen, a decked terrace and dining area, and an exclusive private garden.

The Manor offers day care, respite stays and permanent placements. The day care services operate seven days a week and run through from 8am to 6pm, with entirely flexible pick-up and drop-off times depending on your needs.

Room rates at Eighton Lodge and The Manor at Eighton Lodge cover the individuals' personal care needs, their private room, laundry services, daily wellbeing planner (a wide variety of activities and events tailored to the service users including minibus trips) all main meals and regular snacks and refreshments. The rate does not cover private costs such as a hairdresser fee, although a hairdresser does visit the home on a weekly basis.

The carers are fantastic with Gran. Her room is clean. Some communication with family could be improved but I understand that the staff are so busy.

My mother has been a resident of Eighton Lodge for 2 1/2 years. As a family, we are all happy with the care she has and is receiving. The home is a beautiful building and very nicely decorated. The gardens are lovely and kept very tidy, my mother loved her garden. The staff are always pleasant and friendly.
I don't think we could have picked a better home for my mother as she seems happy there.

Eighton Lodge is warm and welcoming and has a lovely atmosphere. The staff are very friendly and helpful. A well-maintained care home inside and outside. It's nice that the residents mix together. Plenty of activities for the residents to join in. Love seeing the photos on Facebook. Lovely to know that
your loved one is safe and well looked after. A big thank you to all the staff for what they do for our loved ones, especially this year.

All staff are very helpful and caring. The deputy manager is always very helpful and understanding. Nothing is a problem, very understanding. Cleaning staff are always chatting when cleaning - helpful to residents.

Happy with care given. Not sure about 'activities', unfortunately, some are not interested in doing anything as going out on outings. Maybe more encouragement required for indoor input but do realise staff can only do so much.

My mother spent nearly three years at Eighton Lodge care home, she was unable to do anything for herself at the end. The staff were very caring and made myself and sisters feel really welcome and looked after us at the end of my mother's life. She passed with dignity with the staff's help and care.

Public areas and rooms cannot be faulted - more hotel than home. Staff all welcoming, smile, friendly, helpful and nothing is a bother. Questions always answered.
Only negatives - post not always given out on time (actually missed a hospital appointment). Only one lift which has been out of action
frequently over last two weeks. No other way to get residents back to their rooms upstairs.

Kalee’s journey with Wellburn Care Homes started in November 2021 as Deputy Manager at Ryton Towers care home. As of 2024, Kalee is now the Home Manager of Eighton Lodge. Having worked in the care sector for 14 years before joining Wellburn, Kalee brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in providing excellent residential care.


Qualifications include:

Keren's journey with Wellburn Care Homes started in 2018 working for Whorlton Grange before being made Team Leader shortly after joining. Keren then moved over to our Eighton Lodge home in 2022 before being promoted to Deputy Manager of Eighton Lodge in April 2022.
