Very caring and hard-working staff. My mother-in-law is safe, happy, and content at Eothen House. The care home is located in a pleasant residential area. Staff make time to discuss how to support the residents and tell you how they are.
I have already recommended this care home to a friend of mine, and they have just chosen it for their mother.
Some other care homes have newer buildings, but it’s the staff that count, and the staff here are outstanding.
We are extremely pleased with the care that our father is receiving. The home is comfortable and welcoming and the staff are caring and competent. We are always advised of any problems promptly and they are dealt with immediately. Finding Eothen was a godsend at a difficult time in our father's life.
My mother-in-law has been a resident at Eothen Gosforth for coming up to 7 years now. Naturally, in the beginning, she found it difficult to settle in, giving up her home of many years, a home that she didn’t want to give up. Sadly no longer able to look after herself, or able to adjust to a live-in carer, we took the decision to look carefully into choosing a care home in the area she knew and was familiar with. We did a lot of research into what was available in terms of surroundings, comfort, facilities, combined with friends' personal recommendations and meeting the staff who would become responsible for her. During her life at Eothen, her every need has been totally taken care of with the utmost care and consideration. She has always felt looked after cared for, with reassurance in times of doubt with understanding and compassion. I personally can not thank the wonderful staff at Eothen Gosforth enough for all that they do.
My Mum is very well looked after at Eothen and the staff are helpful and friendly. The home is well managed. If there are any queries I am listened to and my questions are answered and action is taken if necessary. There is good communication between the home and relatives.
The care home has done very well to keep the residents safe during the COVID pandemic. Although naturally there have had to be restrictions in place, they have made great efforts to allow visiting to still take place, in the gazebo in Summer, and recently in the visitors booth in the lounge.
This is a caring, excellent home. The sign on entering says 'this home is full of love and laughter'. The sign is absolutely correct. Caring, good-natured and patient staff, homely comfortable surroundings and a reassuringly warm and safe atmosphere. When I'm of age, I'd love to live here. The food and drink is plentiful and of very high quality, the staff make every effort to engage and entertain the residents, worthy of particular praise in light of the current covid situation. They keep the residents safe and reassured and both my brother and myself know our Mum is being cared for properly. How do we know? Because we visit every day and we can see how relaxed and contented she feels. She's always well turned out and looks very healthy and full of life. They provide regular entertainment, be it a 50s themed day with dancing and music or special theme days with meals from around the world. A lovely place indeed. Can't praise it highly enough.
My mother, who is a resident, suffers from vascular dementia and is very frail, was recently admitted to hospital with an infection. She could neither eat nor drink. The prognosis from the two hospitals she was admitted to was not good and she was bed-bound, with the likely outcome being that she may have to be admitted into nursing care. However, Eothen Gosforth offered to take her back to provide her with a recognisable environment and carers she was familiar with. At the time of returning to the home her doctor's prognosis was that little could be done and end-of-life care was initiated. However, within a week, the wonderful carers had her dressed and sitting in her favourite armchair in the lounge ensuring that she take the fluids necessary for recovery. I cannot praise the carers and management of Eothen highly enough. They are like an extension of the family and have provided wonderful care, even though the challenges of the pandemic.
Very satisfied. The staff are friendly and helpful.
This is a happy home. The staff are always very willing to do anything requested. They seem to be very well chosen when appointed.
The best move she ever made.
Now 101 years old, she is happy, relaxed and safely cared for. Eothen is her home in every meaning of the word and the staff part of her extended family.
She feels that she is treated with respect and her opinions on matters that affect her are always listened to.
Nothing is too much trouble.
Interesting outings and activities if you want to be involved.
Good variety of meals served in pleasant surroundings.
Lovely gardens which are well maintained and enjoyable to sit in during the warm weather.
I am very happy here and this feels like my home.
Personally, I feel very at home.
Eothen is very homely.
My mother was very reluctant to leave her home and we appreciate the welcome. A friendly and caring approach which has helped to enable her to settle in. When she experiences anxieties, the carers are patient, kind and caring. The lovely environment, activities and food served in the pleasant dining room all help to ensure that Eothen Homes is as close to home as possible. I feel I can approach the management team at any time.
