Just a short hop from Newcastle and a pleasant drive from the historic Corbridge Roman town and Hadrian’s Wall, Sovereign Lodge is a purpose-built home in the village of Westerhope. It is connected to its smaller adjacent sister home, Sovereign Court, and provides residential and respite care to those living with dementia.

The care home offers residential care, dementia care and respite care with a highly skilled team of compassionate and committed carers who strive to deliver the highest possible level of care.

The atmosphere of the home is warm and friendly and staff encourage residents to make it as personal as possible, adding their own familiar items to their spacious rooms.

The care home is operated by Mariposa. Everyone in a Mariposa Home is treated with the dignity, respect and compassion that you and your family would wish for.

Whilst being here at Sovereign care home I am being well cared for to the extent I think is excellent.
The meals are very good and a homely environment exists all the time. The staff are friendly and always available to attend to one's needs.

I feel that my mam is very well looked after and cared for by all of the staff.
The care home is extremely well run.
There are plenty of activities and lots of interaction for the residents. The safety is first class which is a big factor. My mam requires a lot of reassurance and she certainly receives
it.

This is a very caring home, which is a fantastic service source of comfort to us that my mam is so well looked after. Especially so because my brother and I live so far away.
Mams clothing and laundry is very well done and neatly put away. The food is great and mam enjoys it for sure!.

My mother was lucky enough to be offered a place at Sovereign Lodge in November 2018. Although her stay was short, the care they gave her in the final weeks of her life was exceptional. They not only looked after my mother with love and care they looked after the whole family. They gave support at a
very sad time. No words can say how truly grateful we are as a family to every single member of staff.

When my mum needed full-time care, Sovereign Lodge has the light at the end of an uncertain tunnel. From my first visit, the atmosphere of calm and reassurance was wonderful. Every member of staff treats my mum like family and I am always made so welcome. I have every confidence my mum is being well
looked after and I can relax knowing how calm she is.

My mother is so happy there.
The staff treat her like a member of their own family.
They work so hard and nothing is too much trouble for them. The care standard is brilliant.
I would recommend this residential home to anyone wishing to place a member of their family in residential care.

From the moment I walked into Sovereign Lodge, I knew I had found a home where my mam would be happy. Th welcome and support we both received made a stressful and difficult decision much easier. It is a safe environment and the overall feel to home is very friendly and relaxed and that is due to the

My partner's mother has been in Sovereign Lodge for 1 year. It is a really nice home, clean, staff are really friendly and very attentive towards all the residents. The food always looks good and there are plenty of staff. Also, there is always some kind of activity going on for the residents ie. singers,
animals visiting the home which everyone seems to love. It's a pleasure to visit this home. Recently refurbished to a high standard. The gardens are lovely, seats outside and plenty of bird feeders.

Dad went to live in Sovereign Lodge before Xmas after a bit of a traumatic few months due to his dementia and needing 24/7 care now. We feel Dad has settled quickly and that is entirely down to the manager and her lovely staff, it's amazing because Dad really fought against going into full-time care
and it was a really upsetting time for all the family. It's only been two months and he calls sovereign lodge home and he loves the staff, when we take him out he is always happy to go back so we know he is happy there. Sovereign Lodge is clean, well decorated and always pleasant to visit but the staff are the best thing about the place they are really friendly and caring, they do a great job. Dad says "the grubs canny" which is high praise from him so he's happy with the catering as well.

Teresa Stephenson

Job Title: Home Manager

Our Registered Home Manager, Teresa Stephenson, started her career as a kitchen assistant back in 2000. She was then asked by her manager to become a care assistant because of her kind nature. She quickly climbed the ladder becoming a senior care assistant a post she was in for 11 years. Realising she couldn’t advance in her career where she was, she got a position at Sovereign Lodge where she became Deputy Manager and eventually achieving the Manager’s position. Teresa operates an open door policy, so feel free to approach her and air any concerns or queries you may have.
