All staff very friendly and helpful. Only thing is maybe not enough activities, otherwise, we have no complaints.

My mother has been genuinely happy in this home. I believe she is safe and many of the staff display affection and interaction with her. She has regained weight and is stronger than when she arrived.
The facilities would be good if residents were able to use them all of the time. Training of staff can detract from the availability of facilities.

Activities are not given a high enough priority and staff and management do not always take a proactive stance. Follow through on promised actions sometimes is less well achieved than could be the case.

Reply from Julia Bell, Home Administrator at Barchester Bedewell Grange Care Home

We fully welcome your concerns and will address these over the next few days. We have recently started to use our other homes to minimise the impact of staff training here at Bedewell Grange. We are also reviewing our Activities, so hopefully, you will see a marked improvement.

My father has been a resident for about 9 years and it's the best thing that's ever happened to him.
It has been a huge weight lifted off my shoulders knowing that my dad is so well looked after.
The care and attention at Bedewell is second to none.

As a retired Registered Nurse I cannot speak highly enough of the staff.

We value all feedback from our families especially such positive comments. We will pass this onto to staff which will be greatly received.

Really friendly and caring staff and the home had clean and tidy rooms. We were supported by the management throughout the difficult process of admitting Dad into a weeks respite care. Good facilities and services for residents (eg., hairdresser and manicurist). Dad ate all the food and enjoyed it. We would use this care home again.

My mother had been a resident for nearly 6 years and has always received excellent care, but sadly passed away on 22nd December. The care given to her during the last week of her life and the compassion shown to her and all of our family by all members of staff could not be faulted. They cared for her as if she was part of their own family, and cannot praise them highly enough.

A very detailed review covering all aspects of care, both physical and mental. They showed a good understanding of my aunt's personality in tailoring the care she needs to her ability to understand and communicate. As a result, I believe she is comfortable and content.

My mother needed one week's respite while I had a holiday. She is 99 years old and quite frail. The manager visited us at home to discuss her care. From that initial meeting, I was very happy to hand my mother over to this home's care. My mother was very well looked after for the week. She could not praise the staff enough and all her visitors, friends and family also praised this home for the caring staff, the cleanliness and attractiveness of the home itself. I could not speak more highly of the manager who is efficient, warm, friendly and doing an excellent job.

The management and staff at Bedewell Grange made my mother feel as if this was her home.
They showed true affection and cared for her in a most genuine way.
Every time we visited her in Bedewell Grange, we would get an update and many stories of how she was doing.

She was very afraid in the beginning to go there, but in the end, she loved it there and felt like it was home and the staff were her family.

The home itself is really good.
The staff are great.

Management is great but the food is bad and when my mother receives it, it is always cold.

I support the delivery of quality care and work closely with the General Manager - taking on leadership duties in their absence. I help with everything from ensuring care standards to motivating my team.

I am thoroughly enjoying this chapter in my career with Barchester, and looking forward to continuing to support our lovely residents and staff in the home.

Hello. I'm Tony. I am Bedewell Grange's Head of Maintenance.

I have been with Barchester since 2015 as the Head of Maintenance, and continue to enjoy every moment of it.

My background is in IT hardware, which is probably why I enjoy fixing electronic items. I also love the variety that this role brings, from changing a light bulb to re-decorating one of the lovely rooms here at the home.

It's always a please to chat with our residents as I make my daily rounds.

Miranda Robertson

Hi, my name is Miranda and I am the home's administrator.

I have been working for Barchester since August 2021. I deal with all aspects of the administration of the home to ensure it runs smoothly, from invoicing, ordering, recruitment, setting up contracts, to manning reception; there's never a dull day!

I bring a wealth of administrative experience to the role having worked in construction for 30-years and I love this new role as every day is a school day.

It’s a privilege getting to know our residents, their backgrounds, humour and their life experiences. They have many a tale to tell, and I'm always happy to sit and listen to them over a cup of tea!

Donna Ward

My Name is Donna. I am the activities co-ordinator at Bedewell Grange.

I joined Bedewell Grange in April 2022 and I bring lots of new exciting ideas to the role, having worked in the health and social care sector for the last 15 years. I am passionate about my role within the home and aim to bring a smile to all our residents faces through different types of activities.

I'm bright and bubbly, so aim to share this each day at work. I have experience in supporting our residents who are more able as well as doing sensory Namaste sessions with our residents who are less able.

As I get to know the residents likes and dislikes, if you would like to come and chat with me about your family member please pop in and see me.

Hi! I'm Cheryl, and I am one of the care Assistants.

I have worked in care for over 30 years and love being able to make a difference to all the people in my care. I obtained my level 3 NVQ in 2009.

I love being a carer as it is a very busy role and there is always something to do. Every day is different, and you are always learning new skills.

I have been at Bedewell since 2016 and love the homely atmosphere. Staff all work together to make Bedewell a true home for all of our residents, and I am proud of the high quality of care that we provide.

Frederick Ogudo
Frederick OgudoJob Title:Senior care workerJoined: 2022

Hi, my name is Frederick, and I am a Senior Carer here at Bedewell Grange. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering and an MBA in Business Administration, with over 11 years of professional experience in one of Nigeria's leading banks.

While my background may seem unconventional, I discovered a deep-seated passion for caregiving while tending to my ageing mother before her dear passing in 2021.

Relocating to the UK, I sought to channel this passion and embarked on a career in healthcare. I joined the Bedewell team in 2022 as a Carer and quickly progressed to the role of Senior Carer, thanks to the incredible support I received from the management.

I absolutely love my job and cherish the supportive environment fostered by the Bedewell team. I feel incredibly privileged to share the home of our lovely residents and will continue to do my best to contribute to their well-being.

I have diligently completed all necessary training and am eager to continue expanding my knowledge and contribute meaningfully to the healthcare sector. I look forward to meeting you or your loved ones at Bedewell. Thank you.
