Dad has loved his time at Glenholme House. The staff are extremely kind, professional and friendly. Nothing is too much trouble for them, and they always keep us updated with Dad's health issues. Its been comforting to know that Dad has spent the past few years in such a happy, caring and loving environment.

During my visits to Glenholme over the last 2 years, I've grown increasingly impressed at the standards of care provided. The home is clean and comfortable with generously spaced lounge and dining areas and attractive outdoor seating. On talking to my relative who's a resident, and gradually getting
to know some of the carers who are very patient, kind and supportive, his needs are well catered for, and he regularly reassures me he's content to be there. I'm prompted to write this review because of the high standards I've observed recently. When I've called the door in-person staff are consistently Covid conscious. The Covid visitor's room which the home has had installed is light, bright and well designed, protecting both resident and visitor. Staff are always helpful and cheerful when I ring to book a visiting slot, and my family member has always been well prepared for my visit and helped in and out of the conservatory with patience, care and a sense of humour. Thanks, Glenholme.

The group, in particular, Glenholme has managed the care and wellbeing of their residents in a professional and caring manner throughout the pandemic. The judgement of management and the formidable levels of professionalism and commitment to those they care for is exemplary. I am totally confident that
Mum has been in the safest possible hands.

My father has not been well due to heart failure and ongoing vascular dementia, but the staff at Glenholme have taken the utmost care of dad in a professional, sensitive and caring manner. The communication channels are excellent which has allowed me to keep in touch with dad and for him to feel connected
to us. The staff have constantly updated us at every opportunity and helped me too. It is a true family at Glenholme. Thank you is so inadequate.

Staff are extremely helpful and attentive to the needs of my mum. Carers keep me informed on all important aspects of mum's well-being especially valued during Corona Virus lockdown. We've been unable to visit for 5 months but I have received several kind and reassuring messages telling us mum is still
well, safe and happy. They always make time for me when I call on the phone even though they are very busy. Thank you.

Glenholme staff are very welcoming, efficient and caring. They have a good ratio of staff to residents. The staff are always helpful and accessible. The communal areas are very pleasant, attractive and kept extremely clean.
The garden area is very well tended and adds to the pleasantness of the home.
There is a lift and also a stairlift to the bedrooms.

I couldn't be happier with the care Glenhole House provide for my father. He is always treated with dignity and respect, and I always feel there is genuine affection for him.
As his condition deteriorates, and his needs become more complex, the home goes the extra mile to see that these are met and
that he has everything to allow him to give the fullest life he is able.

My mother has been in Glenholme for over one year; the care she receives is excellent. All of the carers do an amazing job, and it is comforting to know that she is safe and cared for to a very high standard. Nothing is ever too much trouble for the staff, my mother often won't eat some of the meals
provided, but carers go out of their way making her toasties, sandwiches or cheese and crackers at her request. All the residents are washed/bathed regularly and look impeccable. The home is spotless, and all the staff are very friendly.

Glenholme provides a warm, homely, caring environment for all its residents. The staff provide support to the families of the residents in addition to the residents themselves, offering reassurance, a listening ear and a warm welcome. All staff take great pride in providing the highest levels of care
and discharge their duties professionally and empathetically. It is a happy home from home and has become part of our family.

On visiting today 6th March 2020, once again we found the staff to be very attentive to the residents. The atmosphere was happy but quiet so some of the residents were out on a visit. As my mother had had a chest infection that week we were informed fully of her care and medication that she had had
and she is now almost back to her usual self. The staff were really helpful in this matter.

This review relates to the past 2 plus years my mother lived at the home, she has just passed away.
It was absolutely brilliant for my mother, a care home is not a place where we would choose to place one of our parents but there comes a time when we/they can't manage and a good care home is the best
option.
When my sister and I picked Glenholme, we had visited various care homes, 5 I think. We picked Glenholme because it seemed the homiest and welcoming on our visit. It seemed really good but we were wrong, it has been brilliant, not good but brilliant.
Not because of the excellent care all the staff give at all times, not because of the excellent food and personal care like getting them out of bed and helping them get dressed if they need help or having baths, which is a big challenge if you are losing your mobility. But because of the way the staff relate to the residents, the way they talk and carry on while being professional with them on a daily basis.
I cannot thank/recommend the home/staff highly enough. Thank you.

The carers are excellent. Staff are well-trained, respectful and kind. They are extremely patient, even when asked the same questions many times.
District nurses call regularly.
However, recently I feel music is over-used. Music is often played near the front door, side door and dining room and there
is no point at all in having a quiet room beside a corridor where music is played.
I feel this does not take into account the needs of all residents and their visitors (who may be disabled) such as myself. It definitely does not meet my needs.

My auntie has only been in Glenholme House for 2 weeks.
It is taking a little time for her to settle as she has been used to living on her own and caring for herself. She initially didn't want to leave her room and on two occasions, we felt she would have missed her evening meal if we hadn't gone down
to the dining room.
Since then, however, she has mixed more with other residents and staff. The staff all seem very happy and friendly.

Reluctantly mam had to move into residential care in October 2018.
Despite our concerns, we have been impressed by the level of care mam receives.
All the staff are fabulous and nothing is too much bother.
We are kept well-informed at all times about mam.
I would recommend Glenholme to anyone who

We have found the staff to be supportive, friendly and professional towards ourselves and the resident.
The decision to place a family member in full-time care is a difficult one to make.

What can we say as a family who did not know what to truly expect and how mother would react to being resident in a care home (Glenholme). Having arranged a visit to view the home, we were put at ease straight away by staff. Everyone was happy, smiling, full of fun; despite the recent completion of
afternoon dinners. As son and daughter, we were given more than enough information to help make a decision as to whether this was the right place for mam. Over the 6-8 weeks mam has been in residence, she has returned to her old self, compared to how she was in hospital. Fellow residents are friendly and make everyone welcome and encouraged to join in with activities. Mam's room is made to feel like home; although she is hardly there other than to sleep. Encouraged and happy to sit with others in the family lounge or participate with activities in the dining area - painting/interactive games. The staff are very helpful and friendly and prepared to listen to family members.
A great place.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.674)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.674) out of 10 for Glenholme House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 17 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 17 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.749 for Glenholme House is calculated as follows: ( (161 Excellents x 5) + (33 Goods x 4) + (9 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 203 Ratings = 4.749
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.925 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Glenholme House is based on 17 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.925
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8, which has been reached with 17 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
