Excellent home and staff, but Uncle wanted to be back in his home where he was born and lived for 91-years.

My mother has been receiving full-time care since Oct 2020 following a deterioration in her dementia meaning home care was no longer possible. The entire team at Grangewood were understanding and sympathetic to the situation and did everything possible to make the move into care as worry free as possible. The communications and updates have been excellent and the family are confident that my mother is receiving the best possible care from the entire team who display compassion and understanding in everything they do. The necessary controls to prevent any virus from entering the home are excellent and effective and the staff does everything possible with window visits etc to allow the best possible patient/family contacts. Regular updates are received from the staff regarding any changes to medications or health conditions and the local G.P. surgery doctors give the highest praise to the quality of care the home provides. I would recommend the Grangewood to anyone requiring care for a loved one.

I would recommend Grangewood to anyone in the area looking for care for their relative. We tried another before here and only lasted a few weeks. Great care, management and staff. We as a family feel secure.

I do not feel well-placed to perform this review as for the majority of the time my Mam has been in this home the lockdown has been in place. My Mam wanted to come into care because her physical needs were such that the care she had at home (four times a day) was inadequate and my time with her was taken up with essential matters. We hoped that once all her physical needs were met she and I could concentrate on fun and keeping up with her many friends and interests. Through nobody’s fault, this has not been possible. She is hesitant to join groups with people she doesn’t know and therefore has not often joined in with activities. The thing she was looking forward to was some one-to-one craft sessions. I must say that the staff have been very caring to Mam, particularly when she has been ill. They have been vigilant and kept me informed. I think it is difficult for staff and for me that her mental state can’t be assessed at present as we don’t know what the changes are due to.

Mam entered Grangewood after her dementia required her to be looked after. Staff were very kind and made the transition from our care to theirs with compassion and understanding. She had a nice room, always kept clean. Staff were patient, always treated Mam with respect, kindness and dignity. Staff were very helpful, cheerful and always willing to spend a few extra minutes when needed with Mam. During my Mam’s stay, we don't think she could have been anywhere safer or more comfortable. Staff encouraged her to join residents in the dining room at meal times, pamper days and get her hair blow dried. I visited Mam daily it was always clean and fresh and welcomed with open arms. Staff are attentive, kind and obviously work as a team. Management staff kept me updated on Mam's health and condition and were so approachable and caring. After seven months Mam’s condition deteriorated and Mam passed away January this year, her end of life treatment was excellent with brilliant support throughout.

My sister and I were very pleased to find Grangewood after looking at several inferior places in the region. My mother seems to have settled in fine (she's been here 10months) though her memory and awareness seem to be fading- to be expected at the age of 89! I visit from Glasgow, where I live, about once a month and am always welcomed and encouraged whilst here.

My mother has been at Grangewood for nearly 2 years. She is very happy with everything about Grangewood, the staff are very professional and caring towards my mother. The home is well lead and I would, and have, recommend it to lots of friends if they might need a great care home for their parents in the future.

Ever since my mother became a resident at Grangewood, I have had nothing but admiration and total trust in all the staff. They are so courteous and friendly with both visitors and residents. Any problems or situations are explained thoroughly and you feel at ease with things that if not explained thoroughly, could cause concern. A lovely facility enhanced by great staff and management.

Joleen RaynerJob Title:Home Manager

As the Home Manager, I’m passionate about delivering the highest standards of care and quality of life for the people we care for. I believe that great care is about going beyond what is expected to make a difference in residents’ lives.

I also think it’s important to take a caring approach to colleagues, supporting them to do their best work and to fulfil their potential in the workplace. It’s our people who make all the difference and help us to deliver superb care, so if they’re happy, our residents are too.

I’m very proud of Grangewood’s strong links with the local community, and I’m always keen to enhance these so that residents can continue to feel a part of local life and enjoy a lovely lifestyle. One of my favourite parts of the day is chatting with residents and listening to their life stories. There’s so much we can learn from the older generation.

I have an open-door policy, so if there’s anything you’d like to know about Grangewood and the care we provide, please do get in touch.
