I find the care home to be very expensive, especially the food.

I can request other meals but feel this is not really a good thing.

The carers do a good job but it appears to be a short-staffed facility, particularly when needing help with toileting.

My dad was a very private and quiet man and then the dementia took hold and changed his life and his family's life. We had no choice but to find a care home for him. We looked for a very high standard with caring staff that would look after him the way we did for 6 years. We were extremely pleased with Highcliffe and all the staff.

After visiting lots of care homes in the Sunderland area, we found Highcliffe was by far the best. Everything is first class and now that my sister has settled she is very happy with everything, especially the staff's attitude and kindness is second to none. The home has a specially warm atmosphere.

Highcliffe is a wonderful care facility. The staff are fantastic. My sister took a while to settle in but they were constantly reassuring her. She is now so settled. The home and facilities are second to none and it is so good to know she is getting the care she needs. We can rest easy knowing she is safe and happy. Well done all the staff. Thank you all.

My aunt of 104 entered Highcliffe Care Home 18 months ago. She requested to go into residential care, having looked after herself in sheltered accommodation for 26 years. She is a very determined but private person.
My brother and I consider we are very fortunate to have found Highcliffe. Our aunt's time there has been extremely happy. As a family, we are not able to visit her regularly as we all now live so very far away from our upbringing in Sunderland. Our aunt's description of everything connected to Highcliffe is 'lovely' from the staff to the meals.

We are constantly kept informed of her well-being by the seniors in charge and any problems discussed and sorted. I ring her each Sunday afternoon and we go down 'Memory Lane'. The staff are so cheerful and welcoming. She has been encouraged to enter into activities and a splendid party was given for her 104th birthday. Having lived on her own for over 50 years this is a wonderful end to her life.

Most of the staff are very helpful and nice. Would like more outside activities and visits. More help needed at mealtimes. A lot of residents leave food as can't manage a knife and fork - need assistance cutting food up.

Highcliffe Care Home have been looking after my mother for nearly seven years.
In that time, she (and I) have received nothing but the highest standards of care and consideration.
My mam is treated with dignity and respect by everyone - all the staff and the visitors of other residents.
I think it is an exceptional place and I sincerely believe my mother would not be alive today had she become a resident elsewhere.

I can absolutely recommend it to all (and I do as often as possible).

We have had a wonderful afternoon (Red Nose Day).
Staff and residents enjoyed tasting the beautiful cakes which staff made for a bake off.
Following on from tea and cakes was a good singalong which all enjoyed.

Well done Highcliffe, once again!

This home is exceptionally good.
The staff are very good and the food is pretty good.

The only issue is with the laundry arrangements and mix-ups with clothing where items go missing or end up with the wrong resident.

Although the home is clean and quite modern, the care home staff do not always care!

There has been a number of instances where residents have pressed the buzzer for help and the staff haven't made an effort to go to the resident in a timely manner. When asked why they haven't gone they have responded with, 'it's handover we are busy' or 'I'm making cups of tea'.

If the care staff don't respond to buzzers why have them.

My grandmother told me hers was broken. It wasn't broken, they simply didn't respond to it.

The staff and facilities are really good. They have flagged up things other staff in an extra care scheme overlooked. We would trust my aunty with the staff at Highcliffe 100%. Especially with the right medication level being prescribed.

Impressed with overall cleanliness and quality of meals. Some missing with missing laundry.
The majority of care staff are very pleasant and approachable. I now know who to ask to "get a job done".
Communication between shift changes can be frustrating. Management are very approachable and always willing to listen.
Activity coordinators offer a wide range of activities with no pressure on residents to take part.

The "handyman" is a star, has a great rapport with my father and brightens his day.
