Hi, my name is Ben, and I am the General Manager here at Washington Grange Care Home.
I have worked for Barchester since 2022, working in a variety of roles that have given me valuable insight into every aspect of care home life. Starting in a support role, I developed strong foundations in hands-on care, teamwork and leadership, which have shaped the way I manage today.
During my time with the company, I have gained experience in leading teams through positive change and have been proud to play a key role in supporting a home to improve its CQC rating. I am passionate about creating a warm and welcoming environment where residents feel truly at home, families feel reassured, and staff feel supported and valued.
As General Manager, my goal is to ensure that every individual receives the highest quality of care, delivered with dignity, respect, and compassion, while also continuously developing our services to meet the needs of our community.
I started working at Washington Grange in 2005 as an activity co-ordinator, with previous experience in the care sector, I then worked my way up over the years and was promoted to Deputy Manager in 2020, I enjoy learning new things every day, I enjoy being involved with our residents and their families, participating in various fun days any excuse for a fancy dress day. I enjoy meeting lots of different people and working closely with them to provide the care our residents need and deserve.
Sharon has worked in the care sector for a number of years as an administrator
Sharon enjoys her role and loves to spend time chatting with residents and families.
Her hobbies are riding a motorbike with her partner, and holidaying in hot climates.
Sharon also lived abroad in her early years as she was married to a soldier.
Hi, my name is Lauren, and I joined Barchester in July 2025 as an Activities Assistant (bank) before progressing to my current role of Activities Coordinator. I wanted to join the team as I saw how great everyone worked together; it felt like ‘one big family’.
I enjoy helping the residents and finding out about the past and listening to their remarkable stories, understanding their preferences and hobbies, so we can include them in the home's activities programme. Seeing residents smile and interact, keeping them active and stimulated as part of a varied life enrichment programme, is important.
