The team follow Sanctuary Care’s Enriching Lives Framework, based on the six senses people need to be truly happy and fulfilled – a sense of security, achievement, belonging, continuity, significance and purpose. They work closely with residents, to help them to achieve their goals.
Activities are a huge part of life in the home. The maintenance man is part of a male voice chair so, inspired by some of the residents who shared his passion for music, he started the home’s own choir!
There is a salon for those who like a spot of pampering, and the home, which is run by leading not-for-profit care provider Sanctuary Care, has its own bar, the Coulby Inn. Residents enjoy games and quizzes with their favourite tipple. The room can also be used for private family celebrations.
The beautiful, large gardens are the perfect spot to relax with loved ones, who are welcome to visit at any time. Surrounded by wheelchair- friendly pathways, they are bursting with flowers and have a central water feature.
The residents enjoy afternoon tea in the gardens, with home-baked cakes served daily. And all the food is home-cooked by the home’s chef, who makes everything from roast dinners with all the trimmings, to the residents’ firm favourite – fish and chip Friday! The residents are also involved in their ‘Grow Your Own Way’ project, nurturing produce from seed, which will be used by the chef!
And there are so many other activities to enjoy, from musical performances and animal visits, to community trips, church services, gentle exercise sessions and gardening.
There are relaxing lounges and dining rooms, as well as a quiet lounge and conservatory and spacious, beautifully decorated bedrooms.

Our weekly fees are individual to each of our residents and are subject to a pre-admission assessment, which is required to understand the level of care and support needed. Our 2026 weekly care fees for residential care start from £1152 but may be in the region of 30% more*. This depends on your care needs and the type of bedroom that is right for you, from our standard rooms through to our premium bedroom options.
*If you require more specialist care such as 1-2-1 support, your weekly fee could be higher.

On arrival to the Sanctuary care home, myself and my partner, who is a resident there, felt very welcome and it was very homely atmosphere. They have catered for all my partner's needs and have even given me support as my partner had a very bad stroke. Even the management have put my mind at rest as I was worried about the financial situation. We also love the fact, and so does the family, that you can visit for long hours at any time which is good for those that work. And you have a choice where you want to sit, either in their room, conservatory etc., It's also nice to know that I can stay for lunch, tea with my partner for a small donation, you even get a pudding and all the food is fresh and homemade. There are always refreshments, tea, coffee, milkshakes etc., fresh fruit, sandwiches, biscuits doing the rounds day and night. My partner enjoys the activities, family and friends can also join in. The staff take them out on trips to different places ie., seaside, museum's, picnics, hopping etc. The sing along is really lovely, we sing hymns and songs that everyone knows and its good fun, it brings back nice memories for a lot of the residents and us. We think its a really nice place that very homely and has a lovely view of the gardens and nice surroundings.

My dad was only in for a short time, the staff who cared for him treated him with respect and dignity, sadly he passed away in hospital, we did want him to go back to care home for his last few days but sadly that did not happen. I would highly recommend this home, it is family orientated.

I can't praise the care staff enough. They are very caring and they look after the individual resident's needs. The residents are kept clean and tidy and the laundry staff are exceptionally good.
