Staff have been polite and helpful. The room and its facilities are excellent. Food is first-class (I will need to go on a diet!). Some new pillows would be an asset.

My mum moved into the home following a hospital stay. I found all the staff to be kind and attentive to Mum but experienced problems getting through to staff to arrange visits and they are too busy to answer the door or spend time to answer my concerns. Mum's first room was poor standard, clean but shabby. However, I was helped to find a much more pleasant room albeit quite plain. My main issue is that staff are very busy, I haven't seen any evidence of dementia-friendly activities but accept that Covid still restricts.

Under the current covid restrictions, which have been in place since my family member has been a resident within this care home. I can only base my review on telephone contact window visits and limited bubble visits. Overall, though limited contact, it has been pleasant and positive.

My findings were made without having access to the care home because of coronavirus. They are based purely on my relations with the staff which I have found to be courteous, kind, proactive and very caring in the way he is treated. I am also well informed about any medical problems.

March was a special time for both me and my Dad. We had a visit together inside with a holding of hands. Wonderful! The care home had everything organised for my lateral flow test prior to admission. A short wait in the car then the thumbs up. It has been a difficult year for everyone, having Dad in Dalby Court, being cared for 24 hours a day gave me peace of mind. I wouldn’t say it was all plain sailing but restrictions on the care home was always under Government or Sanctuary guidelines, which we must remember is for all the residents and staff. Dad has deteriorated, care was tailored to his needs over this lockdown year, and, I thank the many carers who work here. Dad seems more settled now. Being the only family member in Middlesbrough, to keep Dad aware of his family, who all live in the South, I made memory picture books and the carers take the time to share these memories with Dad. Thank you to all the staff and volunteers, you all do a great job.

Review from Chris L (Grandson of Resident) published on 25 February 2021 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

Gran was allocated a place in the home by the social worker. It was the home she had discussed with her solicitor. I couldn't find the CQC rating and went along with it. In terms of pricing, it seems very competitive. One carer, in particular, was amazing, I got no indication of performance from other staff. I was told I couldn't video call unless I had facetime - we didn't. They were not open to using any universal video calling apps. Though they did it for the social worker when she needed it. Gran's feedback: staff kept promising to do things for her but didn't come back. They said they would be back in 5 minutes and never returned. She found this confusing and upsetting. Gran thought the food was excellent. A lot of Gran's clothes were lost, the home told Gran it was our fault for not putting in labels, we weren't advised this was necessary. The home was facing unprecedented challenges with COVID, but despite measures, COVID got into the home. But they are not alone in that. You get what you pay for.

Dalby Court Care home have cared for my mother excellently since her admission in December 2018. It is by far the best care home I've been associated with, regarding care for my late father and mother, keeping me informed of any matters relating to Mam's care. During Covid-19 their contact has been first-class. I consider myself straight and honest and fair-minded. I found the PM's recent comments re care homes appalling. This care home can rely on my support.

My mum required a short term respite stay. The facilities are good and well maintained. We found all the staff to be warm, welcoming and very helpful.
The personal service and kindness that has been shown to my mum has been immensely helpful at a difficult time.

Mum has been happier staying here in Dalby Court than she has for a long time. She has been treated with respect and has flourished whilst there. I cannot praise the whole team enough. Please thank them.

I feel blessed at finding this nursing home for Mum. The staff are wonderful with her and Mum has "adopted" all of them. I feel happy that she is getting the very best of care, and she is safe at all times. Mum is very settled and happy; that is all I can ask for.

Family support is excellent as well.

All staff, one in particular, have been very helpful in ensuring that my aunt has settled into Dalby Court. My aunt really is happy at Dalby Court, saying that the food and staff are excellent. She has also made some good friends.

Review from Michaela F (Partner of Resident) published on 9 August 2019 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

On arrival to the Sanctuary care home, myself and my partner, who is a resident there, felt very welcome and it was very homely atmosphere. They have catered for all my partner's needs and have even given me support as my partner had a very bad stroke. Even the management have put my mind at rest as I was worried about the financial situation. We also love the fact, and so does the family, that you can visit for long hours at any time which is good for those that work. And you have a choice where you want to sit, either in their room, conservatory etc., It's also nice to know that I can stay for lunch, tea with my partner for a small donation, you even get a pudding and all the food is fresh and homemade. There are always refreshments, tea, coffee, milkshakes etc., fresh fruit, sandwiches, biscuits doing the rounds day and night. My partner enjoys the activities, family and friends can also join in. The staff take them out on trips to different places ie., seaside, museum's, picnics, hopping etc. The sing along is really lovely, we sing hymns and songs that everyone knows and its good fun, it brings back nice memories for a lot of the residents and us. We think its a really nice place that very homely and has a lovely view of the gardens and nice surroundings.

My mum became a permanent resident at Dalby Court on the 9th July and from our first phone calls with the manager, we have been so impressed with the professional, caring way in which we have been dealt with.

It has not bee an easy time settling mum into a care home and all the staff we have met so far have gone beyond our expectations.

My dad was only in for a short time, the staff who cared for him treated him with respect and dignity, sadly he passed away in hospital, we did want him to go back to care home for his last few days but sadly that did not happen. I would highly recommend this home, it is family orientated.
