Dalby Court has a very warm, family feel the moment you walk through the door. The team, some of whom have been there for over 10 and even 15 years, provide residential, dementia and respite care, which can be booked in advance.
The team follow Sanctuary Care’s Enriching Lives Framework, based on the six senses people need to be truly happy and fulfilled – a sense of security, achievement, belonging, continuity, significance and purpose. They work closely with residents, to help them to achieve their goals.
Activities are a huge part of life in the home. The maintenance man is part of a male voice chair so, inspired by some of the residents who shared his passion for music, he started the home’s own choir!
There is a salon for those who like a spot of pampering, and the home, which is run by leading not-for-profit care provider Sanctuary Care, has its own bar, the Coulby Inn. Residents enjoy games and quizzes with their favourite tipple. The room can also be used for private family celebrations.
The beautiful, large gardens are the perfect spot to relax with loved ones, who are welcome to visit at any time. Surrounded by wheelchair- friendly pathways, they are bursting with flowers and have a central water feature.
The residents enjoy afternoon tea in the gardens, with home-baked cakes served daily. And all the food is home-cooked by the home’s chef, who makes everything from roast dinners with all the trimmings, to the residents’ firm favourite – fish and chip Friday! The residents are also involved in their ‘Grow Your Own Way’ project, nurturing produce from seed, which will be used by the chef!
And there are so many other activities to enjoy, from musical performances and animal visits, to community trips, church services, gentle exercise sessions and gardening.
There are relaxing lounges and dining rooms, as well as a quiet lounge and conservatory and spacious, beautifully decorated bedrooms.

I visit regularly and have never seen poor treatment of any of the residents only sometimes slow treatment due to staffing. Entertainment member of staff is BRILLIANT.

Home manager Diane Maughan said: “Thank you for your review and lovely comments about our team. We have the correct ratios of staff to care for our residents and regularly offer support with showers. We try to ensure we rota staff according to residents’ preferences where possible, but occasionally if a member of staff whom a resident prefers isn’t available they may, despite our encouragement choose not to have a shower and we must respect their wishes. If you would like to speak to me at all about this please don’t hesitate to come and see me.”
