Dalby Court has a very warm, family feel the moment you walk through the door. The team, some of whom have been there for over 10 and even 15 years, provide residential, dementia and respite care, which can be booked in advance.

The team follow Sanctuary Care’s Enriching Lives Framework, based on the six senses people need to be truly happy and fulfilled – a sense of security, achievement, belonging, continuity, significance and purpose. They work closely with residents, to help them to achieve their goals.

Activities are a huge part of life in the home. The maintenance man is part of a male voice chair so, inspired by some of the residents who shared his passion for music, he started the home’s own choir!

There is a salon for those who like a spot of pampering, and the home, which is run by leading not-for-profit care provider Sanctuary Care, has its own bar, the Coulby Inn. Residents enjoy games and quizzes with their favourite tipple. The room can also be used for private family celebrations.

The beautiful, large gardens are the perfect spot to relax with loved ones, who are welcome to visit at any time. Surrounded by wheelchair- friendly pathways, they are bursting with flowers and have a central water feature.

The residents enjoy afternoon tea in the gardens, with home-baked cakes served daily. And all the food is home-cooked by the home’s chef, who makes everything from roast dinners with all the trimmings, to the residents’ firm favourite – fish and chip Friday! The residents are also involved in their ‘Grow Your Own Way’ project, nurturing produce from seed, which will be used by the chef!

And there are so many other activities to enjoy, from musical performances and animal visits, to community trips, church services, gentle exercise sessions and gardening.

There are relaxing lounges and dining rooms, as well as a quiet lounge and conservatory and spacious, beautifully decorated bedrooms.

All kinds of activities are created for and engaged. The residents are asked their opinions about which activities they prefer, and care is taken to listen to them. In particular, the outing to the Unicorn Centre was informative and well-planned, the assistants knew all about their charges and named
each one and their characteristics. The place is well managed and very interesting and well worth a visit. We were also given tea and cakes and well taken care of. Future visits are going to be arranged and should be as successful as this!

From day 1 all of Dalby Court's staff made us all feel very welcome and made the transition from home to Dalby Court very smooth. Couldn’t think of a better place to look after my father-in-law and very grateful for everyone’s continued support with his care.

I was admitted into respite care following time in hospital. I found the staff very caring, they were concerned for my comfort. All staff were very helpful in getting me back onto the road to recovery and helping me return home.

I visit Mam several times a week. Each visit I find Mam to be comfortable, clean and fed. She always has a drink to hand as well. The staff always tell me how she has been that day and night, updating me on her moods, diet and general being.

Felt well looked after in Dalby Court. The staff were very pleasant and caring. The food was lovely and there was a good choice. The room was small but I was only there temporarily and would have moved if I had stayed. I would like to thank the management and staff for their kindness and care.

I came into Dalby Court after spending 17 weeks in hospital. I have absolutely no bad words for Dalby Court, it's excellent. The staff are brilliant and very helpful. I have also been having physiotherapy to get me back on my feet and to do everyday things. I am able to go back to my bungalow on Tuesday
3rd May. Thanks to all the help I have had. I am going to miss everyone. Once again, thank you, everyone!

My mother was taken to Dalby Court for respite care following a short stay in hospital. From day one, we were delighted with the level of care she received.
The room was extremely comfortable and well equipped, and she was also able to enjoy the view out of the window. The food was very appetising
and helped with her recovery.
However, what made it so special was the level of care from the staff. Despite being busy, they were able to offer warmth and empathy and very practical solutions when my mother experienced the inevitable post-hospitalisation challenges.
What could have been a difficult time was made so much better by the dedication of the staff.

Mother in respite care throughout a Covid restricted period which staff handled very well making us feel secure. We, therefore, were not seeing the home operating activities to their normal level. The staff and management provided care to the highest standard and although busy they answered queries
and helped us to adjust to a difficult period. Although Mam is now moving to a permanent home elsewhere, we would strongly recommend Dalby Court to other families, she was in a small room but would have been offered larger brighter rooms if she was to stay permanently.

My sister is settling into the home now. I would like to commend all the staff for their commitment and hard work through Covid and the ongoing effects and unavoidable restrictions on what can be done and visiting etc. They are all working under pressure but do their best for each and every resident.
Now they are getting to know and understand my sister, things are going well, they are very patient and do their best for her and try to ensure she remains cheerful. We are looking forward to when more activities can resume (they still have Covid in the home) and when my sister can get out more.

My father did not spend long at Dalby Court as his health was declining so quickly. He was a resident for almost two months but spent some of that time in hospital. I found the staff to be caring and hard-working. Dad was not happy at having to live in a care home and was not easy to manage but I believe
he was looked after kindly and professionally. I was impressed by the manager and administrator, who communicated well with me and were particularly kind to my mother. His passing was handled sensitively and supportively.

I found the experience very good. I find the staff very friendly and helpful. Everything has gone very smoothly without a hitch. The home is very well run and I think my mum will be happy there. She has only been there a very short while but is settled.

Mam has been in Dalby Court for a short time and I could not fault the care Mam has received. This has been highlighted since Mam has been placed on end of life where we are spending day and night at the home. The staff have been exceptional with our family, refreshments and ensuring we have everything
we need. Also, Mam's care is outstanding, nothing is a problem. Spending such long hours in the home has highlighted how hard the carers work and how compassionate and empathetic they are with all the residents.
