Dalby Court has a very warm, family feel the moment you walk through the door. The team, some of whom have been there for over 10 and even 15 years, provide residential, dementia and respite care, which can be booked in advance.

The team follow Sanctuary Care’s Enriching Lives Framework, based on the six senses people need to be truly happy and fulfilled – a sense of security, achievement, belonging, continuity, significance and purpose. They work closely with residents, to help them to achieve their goals.

Activities are a huge part of life in the home. The maintenance man is part of a male voice chair so, inspired by some of the residents who shared his passion for music, he started the home’s own choir!

There is a salon for those who like a spot of pampering, and the home, which is run by leading not-for-profit care provider Sanctuary Care, has its own bar, the Coulby Inn. Residents enjoy games and quizzes with their favourite tipple. The room can also be used for private family celebrations.

The beautiful, large gardens are the perfect spot to relax with loved ones, who are welcome to visit at any time. Surrounded by wheelchair- friendly pathways, they are bursting with flowers and have a central water feature.

The residents enjoy afternoon tea in the gardens, with home-baked cakes served daily. And all the food is home-cooked by the home’s chef, who makes everything from roast dinners with all the trimmings, to the residents’ firm favourite – fish and chip Friday! The residents are also involved in their ‘Grow Your Own Way’ project, nurturing produce from seed, which will be used by the chef!

And there are so many other activities to enjoy, from musical performances and animal visits, to community trips, church services, gentle exercise sessions and gardening.

There are relaxing lounges and dining rooms, as well as a quiet lounge and conservatory and spacious, beautifully decorated bedrooms.

Mam has been in the home for just over two years now. She came into the home in quite a sad state. The carers and other staff have brought Mam back to her normal self. She looks healthy and happy, above all she has made friends and is safe.

Our step mum is very happy with her care and says the care workers/workers are pleasant and friendly. She seems to enjoy being in the care home, we have asked a few times if she would rather be in a care home closer to us as we live about six miles away, but it is a definite 'no'. So there's my review.
Keep up the good work, because we certainly couldn't do it. Last but not least the office staff are friendly and always willing to go that extra mile to help.

Appalling experience for my father, his care needs are not met, multiple pressure sores, filthy room, food with little nutritional value, weight loss, and a massive decline, all in a three-week stay. Discovered on my first and only visit due to lockdown... apparently.
Needless to say, I'll be moving
the poor soul asap.

The staff have been wonderful in helping Mum settle in and taking care of her; her needs and her preferences have been considered throughout, and there is genuine concern for her well-being. Can't praise the staff of Dalby Court enough for their support during a very difficult time.

My mum moved into the home following a hospital stay. I found all the staff to be kind and attentive to Mum but experienced problems getting through to staff to arrange visits and they are too busy to answer the door or spend time to answer my concerns. Mum's first room was poor standard, clean but
shabby. However, I was helped to find a much more pleasant room albeit quite plain. My main issue is that staff are very busy, I haven't seen any evidence of dementia-friendly activities but accept that Covid still restricts.

Under the current covid restrictions, which have been in place since my family member has been a resident within this care home. I can only base my review on telephone contact window visits and limited bubble visits. Overall, though limited contact, it has been pleasant and positive.

My findings were made without having access to the care home because of coronavirus. They are based purely on my relations with the staff which I have found to be courteous, kind, proactive and very caring in the way he is treated. I am also well informed about any medical problems.

March was a special time for both me and my Dad. We had a visit together inside with a holding of hands. Wonderful! The care home had everything organised for my lateral flow test prior to admission. A short wait in the car then the thumbs up. It has been a difficult year for everyone, having Dad in
Dalby Court, being cared for 24 hours a day gave me peace of mind. I wouldn’t say it was all plain sailing but restrictions on the care home was always under Government or Sanctuary guidelines, which we must remember is for all the residents and staff. Dad has deteriorated, care was tailored to his needs over this lockdown year, and, I thank the many carers who work here. Dad seems more settled now. Being the only family member in Middlesbrough, to keep Dad aware of his family, who all live in the South, I made memory picture books and the carers take the time to share these memories with Dad. Thank you to all the staff and volunteers, you all do a great job.

Gran was allocated a place in the home by the social worker. It was the home she had discussed with her solicitor. I couldn't find the CQC rating and went along with it. In terms of pricing, it seems very competitive. One carer, in particular, was amazing, I got no indication of performance from other
staff. I was told I couldn't video call unless I had facetime - we didn't. They were not open to using any universal video calling apps. Though they did it for the social worker when she needed it. Gran's feedback: staff kept promising to do things for her but didn't come back. They said they would be back in 5 minutes and never returned. She found this confusing and upsetting. Gran thought the food was excellent. A lot of Gran's clothes were lost, the home told Gran it was our fault for not putting in labels, we weren't advised this was necessary. The home was facing unprecedented challenges with COVID, but despite measures, COVID got into the home. But they are not alone in that. You get what you pay for.

Dalby Court Care home have cared for my mother excellently since her admission in December 2018. It is by far the best care home I've been associated with, regarding care for my late father and mother, keeping me informed of any matters relating to Mam's care. During Covid-19 their contact has been
first-class. I consider myself straight and honest and fair-minded. I found the PM's recent comments re care homes appalling. This care home can rely on my support.

My mum required a short term respite stay. The facilities are good and well maintained. We found all the staff to be warm, welcoming and very helpful.
The personal service and kindness that has been shown to my mum has been immensely helpful at a difficult time.
Mum has been happier staying here
in Dalby Court than she has for a long time. She has been treated with respect and has flourished whilst there. I cannot praise the whole team enough. Please thank them.

I feel blessed at finding this nursing home for Mum. The staff are wonderful with her and Mum has "adopted" all of them. I feel happy that she is getting the very best of care, and she is safe at all times. Mum is very settled and happy; that is all I can ask for.
Family support is excellent as well.
