My mother is a resident at this home. She is 96 years old and is very happy and settled there. She has had 2 experiences of going into hospital. The staff in this home gave her all the care and attention before and after these 2 incidences.
All of our family are happy with the care she receives here.
Everyone is caring and full of love. She could not be in a better place. Mam also calls all the staff in here her family.

I have been visiting Wynyard Woods for over two years now. The rooms and communal areas are clean, fresh and comfortable. All the staff treat the residents in a friendly manner as if they were family. Their concern for residents extends beyond professionalism into a genuine caring for the people they
are looking after.

Review went very well- covered a lot of ground. Few things to address, hopefully, they will be sorted soon. There does, however, seem to be a lack of communication between the staff.

So happy that mum is been taken care of in such a caring environment. Staff are absolutely fantastic - great rapport with mum and always have time to listen.
Management are available full time for any queries and have been so supportive to me during the difficult transition that mum is facing.
The
activities programme is excellent - the food of the highest standard - a real home from home atmosphere all round.

I cannot praise this care home enough. The care that my aunty received could not be faulted (and she was not the easiest of residents at times). When she passed, the consideration, help and support we received were excellent. Rooms could do with a refurb.
Reply from Kath Sargent, Manager at Wynyard WoodsThank you for taking the time to review Wynyard Woods and we are pleased that you are extremely likely to recommend us. We have a full refurbishment planned this year and we encourage our residents to decorate their bedrooms to their own personal tastes.

When visiting found this home to be really tidy and always smells nice. Staff very helpful, but all credit to the team leader, a delight to talk to and a very caring person. Great at his job and really cares for the elderly people living in the home. Always feel, since visiting, can go to him about
anything as usually on duty when I visit. Carers are also very good at the daily work with the elderly.

My husband received the care he needed, leaving the family content knowing he was being looked after, his needs met in such a professional and loving manner. Management and staff were extremely helpful and available to us

My Mother is a resident of Wynyard Woods care home.
This is the 3rd care home we have used in the last 3 years. The previous two facilities had many issues that forced us to seek alternative care.
Having found Wynyard Woods, we couldn't be happier. Mam instantly felt comfortable in there and the staff
warmed to her straight away.
Living out of the country and only visiting 2-3 times per year, I need peace of mind that she is in good hands when I leave.
Wynyard Woods ticks all the boxes.
Not only do they provide the care we are looking for but also make my Dad feel very welcome on his daily visits.
Sometimes we forget the other parent, but they include him in all activities and he really enjoys that.

My mother in law was moved to Wynyard Woods after some problematic stays at two other care homes in the area, where we felt the standards of care were lower. It is not an easy decision to transfer a family member with dementia but the move was handled efficiently and the family was warmly welcomed.
My mother in law settled in quickly and we have seen a great improvement in her wellbeing and general mood. The Manager has been very professional, explained things clearly, and ensured we are notified promptly of any concerns. The facilities are clean, the food is nutritious and the place is warm. I feel that my mother in law is receiving professional care and the staff work hard to ensure her needs are met.

In my view, residents have no activities or interaction with staff. There is no Activities Coordinator. You see them just sitting on their own with no communications going on. You quite often see residents still in pyjamas, unwashed after 11 on a morning. There is one small lounge upstairs and 28 residents
and the 2 dining rooms are always set with glasses and knife and fork, which I think is very unsafe. We have found forks in my sister's room.
Reply from Kath Sargent, Manager at Wynyard WoodsThank you for taking the time to share your views. As an organisation, we appreciate the benefits that inclusive activities can have on our residents - therefore there is a program of daily activities/events available for residents who wish to participate. We also have the recently developed interactive first floor which residents are encouraged to use, should they wish to do so, and the home also has its own minibus for trips and outings. Our residents are treated as individuals and may choose to dress later in the morning.

My mother in law was a resident in another care home in Stockton-on-Tees, unfortunately, her carers ignored a water infection and she was hospitalised for 11 days and when she was released from hospital, she moved into Wynyard Woods. This has been the best move for her, she is happier in herself and
her health has improved dramatically. The staff are great with her, they have taken the time to find out my mother in laws interests, this includes dancing and have asked her to teach them to dance which gives my mother in law a sense of pride and also makes her feel useful. I cannot thank everyone at Wynyard Woods enough for the excellent care they give her. I would also like the thank them myself for being so helpful and approachable when I have had the need to ask for advice regarding my mother in laws ongoing care.

An excellent care home that provides its residents with an outstanding and personal level of Care. The staff are extremely helpful and will go out of their way to do what they can for you and the residents. Facilities/rooms are of high quality and provide ample space for its residents and their families
to interact in a safe and friendly environment.

After a recent move for my Grandmother from another home, it is clear that Wynyard Woods and its staff are the best in the area.

Wynyard Woods care home is an exceptional care home, that provides its residents with the utmost care and attention they need.

This move to Wynyard Woods care home has been excellent for my grandmother, every time I go to see her she is upbeat, laughing and joking and always smiling, all I could

ask for. The nurses have their own individual relationships with my grandmother which undoubtedly makes her time easier and more enjoyable whilst she’s there.

Overall, this home is fantastic and I wouldn’t change anything about it. And from previous places I’ve seen, The Wynyard Woods and its staff are by far the best facility within the surrounding areas.

My brothers, sisters and I needed care for our 92-year-old dad after a serious fall. He had Parkinson's and dementia also. Wynyard Woods provided from the first, the greatest care. The patience, kindness and compassion shown to Dad was outstanding and no need was left unattended. The professionalism
of the staff was outstanding and also the consideration shown to us as a family was exemplary. Our gratitude cannot convey the depth of our thanks.

I find the home has a very friendly atmosphere. The staff are very helpful and friendly. I have the feeling of being with an extended family rather than being in a home. Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.945)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.945) out of 10 for Wynyard Woods is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 18 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 18 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.995 for Wynyard Woods is calculated as follows: ( (213 Excellents x 5) + (1 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 214 Ratings = 4.995
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.95 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Wynyard Woods is based on 18 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.95
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 50 registered maximum number of service users is 10, which has been reached with 18 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2016

Hello, my Name is Kath, and I have been the registered Manager at Wynyard Woods for 10 years. I have worked at Wynyard since the day we opened, almost two decades ago, and have enjoyed a variety of roles in that time.

I feel very strongly about the provision of excellent social care for the elderly and have worked hard to ensure that the care at Wynyard Woods is tailored to meet the wishes and expectations of our residents. The provision of a pleasant and contemporary environment where residents and their families can feel “at home” is of paramount importance to me. I have studied extensively and continue to do so to ensure my skills and knowledge are equal to the role I occupy.

I have a grown-up family and like to spend time with my grandchildren. I love to travel in my spare time and absolutely adore holidays in my spiritual home - the Greek Islands.

Hi, my name is Donna, and I am a Deputy Manager at Wynyard Woods Care Home. I joined the team here in 2017 as a Team Leader and worked hard to progress to the role of Deputy Manager. I hold a diploma in Health and Social Care and studied Psychology and Counselling at Teesside University. I love my role at Wynyard and work hard to provide coaching and support for the staff team, the residents and their families.

My role provides me with the opportunity to meet some interesting characters and to learn about some amazing life stories. I have three children and a grandson whom I adore. My husband and I enjoy camping trips and foreign holidays as a way to unwind in our free time.

Leanne

Job Title: Administrator Joined: 2022

My name is Leanne, and I have been an administrator in the care industry for many years. Wynyard Woods is like my second family; I have worked here since January 2022.

I really enjoy the variety of tasks which make up my role. I love finding new entertainers and experiences for our residents and producing the activity calendar and the monthly newsletter for our residents and families to enjoy. I also like to get involved in the exercise and activities when I can; they are great fun.

I am extremely passionate about supporting people living in a residential setting and have a personal interest in dementia and Alzheimer’s care due to my own family member’s diagnosis. When I am not working, I love going on the motorbike, visiting nice places with my husband. I also love a good dance and singsong!
