Review from Carole M (Relative of Resident) published on 7 January 2021 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

My relative is well cared for, well fed and kept clean and tidy, interacting with both staff and residents, which prior to relocating to Chichester Hall she was withdrawn and not interacting with people. Her appetite has returned and with it her chirpy personality. The home has been very Covid aware and taken all considerations.

My aunt has been in this care home for a year now, the satisfaction we get as a family is unbelievable, the staff at this home are first-rate, excellent food and amenities and where possible the activities and entertainment are also first class.

Residents are well looked after even during the lockdown. It's comforting to know that the staff follow all procedures with PPE and all residents are safe.

A wonderful home in a beautiful and tranquil setting. The staff go above and beyond to ensure that their residents are happy and that they spend their remaining years in comfort surrounded by lovely people. I can not recommend this home highly enough for someone looking for additional help or support when caring for an elderly relative!

My mum has been in here for some time now and I feel happy she is looked after very well and she is content and happy. All the staff are friendly and caring. The building is clean, well kept, and homely, which to me is very important.

My parents were residents at Chichester Hall for just over 4 years. In all that time they were treated with care and respect at all times and when they came to the end of their lives all the staff could not have been more kind.

They were treated with dignity and kept comfortable at all times, seeing to their every need. I cannot recommend the home more highly.

Reply from Jenni Wilkinson, Manager at Chichester Hall

My parents, both in their 90's and with varying degrees of frailty and dementia, moved into Chichester Hall when my husband underwent heart surgery earlier this year. This was the only home in the area to offer a really large double 'bedsit' and they even bought a double bed for them. The staff have all been truly great, I have no qualms about the quality of care and their support to me over these difficult months has been much appreciated.

Mum thoroughly enjoyed her week here, in fact, she didn't want to come home. It's taken a long time to persuade her to try anywhere, but after we had the first visit to show her around she loved it.
It's more like a hotel than a care home.
Lovely clean rooms, staff are more like friends and Mum enjoyed the food.
As a family, we felt so happy seeing Mum safe, comfortable and at home in her surroundings.

Five stars.

Staff were very welcoming and friendly towards my husband and commented that he had a smile for everybody which was reassuring that he was happy being looked after and willing to help in any way.
The establishment was very clean and the food seemed to be varied and plentiful.
On departure, my husband's possessions had been laundered and packed into his suitcase from my inventory.
All items present and correct.

Most impressive.

My aunt has been a resident at Chichester Hall now for a number of years.

We travel quite a distance to see her every couple of months and are always welcomed by staff and offered tea and cake. My aunt is safe and well cared for. Special thanks to the lady for keeping us up to date as my aunt doesn't always want to communicate with visitors. The atmosphere at the home is friendly and homely.

I'm always impressed with the home when I visit. This also applies when I phone the home enquiring as to the wellbeing of my sister-in-law. The staff are always friendly and helpful. I rate them, first class.

The home is always lovely and warm. Meals are always lovely. Visitors are offered a drink on arrival. Care staff and kitchen and cleaning staff are always friendly and helpful.

It would be good if some of the more mobile residents were able to have a little trip out now and again, even just down to Silloth to see Christmas lights. Appreciate availability of staff an issue, more activities would be beneficial too.

Whenever I visit mum, the staff are always friendly and welcoming. Mum tends not to like being in the lounge - very large with people sitting around the edges - usually sleeping with no care staff. In an ideal world, I would like to see more interaction with these residents. Mum enjoys chatting with the staff and likes her room which has beautiful views.
