Review of Hames Hall from Stuart A (Son of Resident) published on 16 July 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

Our mother initially came to Hames Hall for respite care. However, she settled in so well and loved it so much that she decided she wanted to stay permanently.

Sadly, she recently passed away, but we can honestly say that the staff and residents at Hames Hall became her second family. They made her final years so happy, comfortable, and full of care.

We will always be grateful for the kindness, compassion, and support shown to our mother and to our family.

We would have no hesitation in recommending Hames Hall to anyone considering care for a loved one.

Reply from Angela Dawson, Registered Care Home Manager at Hames Hall

Thank you for your thoughtful and kind review, for which all the staff are truly grateful. It was a privilege to care for your mother.

Overall Experience

Chichester Hall has been my mam's home for just over 3 years now. From day one she has received excellent care and kindness from all the staff who work there. Although my mam isn't able to participate in activities with the other residents, the staff still find ways to include her and give her 'experiences' whenever possible. Chichester Hall is a lovely, welcoming home, not only for residents but also for their family members & friends.

My mum has been in Hames Hall for nearly 5 years. We chose Hames Hall after looking at other care homes in the area. It was definitely the right choice. My mum is very happy and well looked after here. The staff are all dedicated and very kind. She particularly enjoys the entertainment as she is a very sociable person. At the dining table there is always a discussion as to what entertainment there will be that day. Mum and her friends all look forward to it.

Review of Grove Lodge from Michael D (Son of Resident) published on 5 June 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
My mother has been a resident at Grove Lodge for approximately 12 years.
Under previous ownership/management over the years there have been some minor issues but I have to say certainly since Dawn has been the manager I have been extremely satisfied with the care my mother has received.
All the staff are very attentive and caring and in particular Jenny who has to be my mum's favorite. Jenny has been at the home all the time my mum has been resident and she is like a granddaughter to her.

I would not hesitate in recommending Grove Lodge as a care home and I would like to thank all the staff for their continued care and help towards my mum.

Reply from Dawn Cocker, Manager at Grove Lodge

This means so much to us, as my husband and myself live abroad, and knowing shes so looked after, is a huge relief for us.
Dawn the manageress, (all the staff), but Jenny in particular, who my mother in law loves, are so patienc , kind, and caring with her.
Thank you so much for all you do.

Review of Hames Hall from Lynn W (Daughter of Resident) published on 2 June 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
My mum has been living in Hames hall now for almost 6 months. The care she receives there is excellent.
The staff are friendly, kind and very supportive in all ways.
She recently celebrated her 94th birthday and the staff provided a wonderful afternoon tea for her and family, nothing is too much trouble.
I feel I have been consulted and kept up to date with any changes in her daily care and needs.
Company and activities have given mum a new lease of life.

Nothing but praise for Hames hall

Review of Hames Hall from K T (Daughter of Resident) published on 22 May 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

I would 100% recommend Hames Hall to anyone looking for an exceptionally well run care home. The staff are kind, caring, professional and always welcoming. There is a wide variety of activities on offer, something to suit all tastes, plus weekly visits from a hairdresser, which Mum particularly appreciates. Hames Hall itself is an impressive property, with a lovely lounge, dining room, conservatory and gardens which enjoy superb views of the Lake District Fells. But it is the standard of care which stands out and I feel so reassured knowing that Mum is being so well looked after.

My relative was initially reluctant to go into a care home, but after living at Hames Hall for a few months, she has really settled in and is enjoying the activities and the companionship very much.

The staff are all so friendly and caring, and the chef is always careful to accommodate her particular dietary needs. The level of care is amazing.

Review of Valley View Care Home from J S (Sister of Resident) published on 5 March 2026 Submitted via Postal Card

My brother was moved to Valley View from another care home. The difference in him is hugh... before he was sleeping all the time. His head was lowered - never had his glass's on. Drinks available but never any cups to pour it in. Since coming to Valley View his head is up - he has his glasses on - he engage's with his visitors - sits at the table to eat his meals. His wife was feeding him at the other home. The staff are lovely and helpful - very welcoming. What a positive move!

Review of Delaheys Nursing Care Home from Valerie C (Daughter of Resident) published on 24 February 2026 Submitted via Postal Card

My mother started in two different hospitals before being transferred to Delaheys. I arrived first to greet her, but was met with an unexpected wonderful welcome and cup of tea. This reflected the staff in general. They cared for me as well as my mum. A lovely home and I would have been happy to have her stay forever but wanted Mum (and sister) moved closer to me. Shout out to Freddy - always had time to talk to me. Disappointed with bedroom - shared but they knew the stay was very short.
