Welcome to Field View.

Located in Blackhall Colliery, a former mining village on the North Sea coast of County Durham close to Peterlee and Horden, Field View is located on Hesleden Road between Castle Eden and Hartlepool. Nestled behind Yohden Care Complex and surrounded by fields and grassed areas the home is a tranquil environment for residents who are looking for general or EMI dementia residential care.

There is ample car parking at the home for visitors and the closest bus stop from the home is located at the Hardwick Hotel on Middle Street which is a 0.5 mile stroll to the home which is visited by the 23, 24 Sapphire, 55 and 206 IndiGo bus.

The home is a single storey, purpose-built building, which has a secure, central courtyard containing outdoor seating and raised flower beds for green fingered residents who enjoy gardening and an accessible green house at the front of the home ideal for growing the home's own fruit and vegetables.

Inside the home, you will find a coffee shop where hot drinks are available complimentary, a modern lounge with Radio, TV and DVD player, comfortable dining room serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, pub room, activities room and hair salon where residents can come and enjoy being pampered weekly. All bedrooms are en-suite with furniture provided with communal shower rooms and spa bath amenities.

They have a dedicated activities coordinator on site and residents enjoy activities in and out of the home as well as 1 to 1 time.

They have a 5-star award in Food Hygiene (July 2023) and were proud to be a winner of the MMCG Christmas Cake competition in 2019. They believe food is a huge aspect their care at Field View and residents enjoy a cooked breakfast, choice of lunch and dinner meals, supper and hospitality trolley with drinks and cakes throughout the day.

The door is always open to visitors and Field View will be delighted to send you further information.

From what I have seen when visiting my friend I think this is a lovely home and the staff are lovely. It is always clean and bright. I cannot answer all of the questions because I am not familiar with all of them but on the whole, I would definitely recommend this home to others.

We the family are very happy with Field View. The facilities and staff are all excellent and everything is spotlessly clean. My mother was reluctant at first but has settled in well and speaks highly of the staff who ensure she is involved in the activities. I have found that my mother actually more
alert now and is eating much better than she was when left to her own devices. I feel confident that she is being well looked after.

My dad has lived in Field View for 3 years and he (and I) have always been more than satisfied with the high level of care given to all aspects of his life. He is spotlessly clean as are his laundered clothes. The home is spotlessly clean too and always smells fresh and clean. He is helped to maintain
the lifestyle he has before coming to Field View i.e. going to church weekly. The staff are second to none. They are so friendly, professional and knowledgeable. Nothing is too much trouble for any of them. If dad needs anything it is there in a flash- there is no waiting for days for things to be done. The central heating system has been upgraded and today I was talking to one of the workmen who during the course of our chat said this was the best home he had been in - and I agree!

Very pleasant bright place. Clean- always tidy. All staff really nice, nothing is too much trouble. I help to make cakes on Tuesdays we eat them at our coffee morning Wed. We play bingo, dominoes and various other things. I need help from staff as I cannot weight bear on my leg so need to be hoisted
everywhere which they do for me. Staff really good.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.713)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.713) out of 10 for Field View is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.813 for Field View is calculated as follows: ( (88 Excellents x 5) + (18 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 107 Ratings = 4.813
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Field View is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 36 registered maximum number of service users is 7.2, which has been reached with 9 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
