Anchor’s Elderwood is located at the heart of the community in Darlington.

The home continues to welcome new residents for friendly and comfortable residential and dementia care for up to 40 customers in single en suite rooms. Residents have the benefit of the Elderwood Arms pub area within the home.

Detailed care plans are created for each resident to ensure their changing needs are always met throughout their time at the home. Staff work hard to build strong relationships with customers and receive on-going dementia training to provide the best care for those living at Elderwood.

The home is owned by Anchor, England's largest not-for-profit provider of housing and care for the over 55s. With more than 60 years of experience as a not-for-profit organisation, the group aims to continually raise standards and exceed expectations by reinvesting money made to improve their services and properties.

We were quite anxious about placing Mum in a nursing home for two weeks of respite care; however, the care she was given could not be faulted, and we would certainly use Elderwood Nursing Home again. All of the staff were very friendly and caring, and nothing was too much trouble for them. The administrator
was also very helpful and informative when we initially made contact with the home. Whilst at the home, Mum was encouraged to join in the activities and visit the dining room for lunch, she also enjoyed resting in a very comfy room.

When Mum first came to Elderwood, we asked her if she was happy, healthy and safe. She said yes and still does. The staff are amazing and she feels like she is living in a 5-star spa hotel.

My mum (eighty-three) and her partner (ninety-seven) have used this care home twice for respite care. The care and kindness, from all staff, is exceptional. The food is hotel quality and the activities are enjoyable and appropriate. They both love coming to stay and say they are 'going on holiday'!
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Elderwood to anyone who needs long or short-term care.

My aunt has been a resident of Elderwood for over two years now and, apart from not being able to visit because of Covid restrictions, I'm very pleased with the care she has received from all the staff. While I'm there visiting, she is always treated with dignity and respect. I do, however, find the

Elderwood is simply the best care home I've ever come across. Staff are absolutely wonderful and the majority who work there have been employed there for years, meaning there is excellent consistency. The care given is second to none. Rooms are lovely and roomy and the home is spotless. There is great
care given to menus and the quality of food is excellent. The activity programme is regular, varied and ensures there is regular stimuli and fun for residents. I feel very blessed that my mother is fortunate enough to be a resident there. I simply cannot fault anything. Credit to the manager for maintaining such a wonderful culture of care. My mum has been staying at Elderwood since November last year. Her wish was for her to continue living in her bungalow, but unfortunately her mobility didn’t allow that. Both Mum and I are so thankful that we found Elderwood and we would like to thank all the staff for their care and attention. It takes

It took some time for her to settle in, but through patience and persistence, her carers have made her feel entirely at home. She often comments on how well she is being looked after

Elderwood have been excellent in caring for my gran, who became a full-time resident with them in October 2022 after the passing of my grandad. The staff at Elderwood were exceptional and caring when it came to the end of life care for my grandad and treated him with dignity and respect. As a family,

I found all staff very pleasant and willing to help in all matters. My brother's health issues were listened to and helped to be resolved. My brother returned from the hospital, needing to receive palliative care. Management and all staff were supportive of my brother and helpful to all my family.

What a wonderful care home. My father had a great bond and rapport with all the staff. I felt extremely confident with all the professional care he received.
