Wansbeck Care Home

Not too good on admin but the staff are wonderful.

The care given to residents during the COVID pandemic has been excellent. The staff truly care about our loved ones and the photos on their social media page really help me cope with not seeing my loved one, keep up the good work. I’m so pleased my sister is in such a loving environment.

Couldn’t have asked for better care for my Dad when he was in Wansbeck. The staff made us all feel like one big family, and we were always made to feel very welcome. Sadly my Dad passed away, but we know he was well cared for and treated with dignity and respect at all times. Thank you.

First time using a care home. My mum had to have a period of respite after being in hospital. I found the staff at Wansbeck to be very kind and they did their utmost to help in any way they could in a difficult situation with COVID.

I came into Wansbeck Care Home on 29th November 2017 and was only there for convalescence. I came for 2 weeks, 'till the other home got my room ready properly but when I came in I loved it so much I wanted to stop here and it will be 3 years in November now. The carers are all lovely and are there when you need them when possible. I have never looked back as it feels like home from home.

My aunt was recently in Wansbeck for a period of respite and we as a family couldn’t have asked for better care for her, she was quite poorly when she went in but she was well cared for and came home very much better. Thank you to all the very kind staff.

MY best friend was a resident at this care home from June 2017 until her death in April 2019. During that period I visited very frequently. From the very beginning with the home, there was a lovely friendly spirit which still counts today. The staff without exception are all first-class, the way they go about their duties. Since her death, I have continued to visit the home and I am proud to help as a volunteer, to help in any way possible. Singing is a very important feature, singing and cleaning and some modified activities available for the residents. The effect for the residents is very rewarding. Firstly if I ever have to go into a home, my daughter who has POA knows that I shall want to spend my time at the Wansbeck.

My mother was in the home for 3 years and during that time actually improved in mind, spirit and health. She regained her wicked sense of humour yet still always said sorry and kissed the staff afterwards. It was a pleasure to visit her 3 times a year (I live in the USA). It was a great comfort to know she was with ‘family’ when so far away and on the tearful times I had to leave her there. They involved her in all celebrations and activities and encouraged her lovingly when she said she didn’t want to at first, then she loved it when she did join in. My mother never lost her smile while she was in their care. When she passed away, I saw staff members crying and so upset I had to comfort them. This is far above the care I expected yet it was the same for my father with the previous staff. Bless them all.

Wansbeck are always offering activities and entertainment.

Excellent home. Staff are very caring. Always made welcome when visiting. Activities available if required.

Visited mam prior to the meal. Very happy with her surroundings noticed her legs had deteriorated and informed the manager as always went up to check and will keep an eye on her.

My mother is always dressed and clean.

I was pleased to see mam in the lounge interacting with others. She'd been to the hairdressers and had her hair done, she was in good spirits and full of chat. The carers do a fabulous job at Wansbeck and are all dedicated to their job. They always go above and beyond in all they do. Mam is always clean and tidy when I visit.

Thoughtful, reassuring and caring staff who have always got a smile on their faces 24/7.

The staff are all extremely friendly and helpful. They are very caring and attentive to my sister's needs looking after her sensitively and appropriately. The care home is always very clean and welcoming. The new sitting area outside (enclosed for safety) is a lovely addition and the ladies all had their sun hats on when I came to visit today.

My father has only been at Wansbeck Care Home for a short while. He has settled really well and on visiting him I am so happy that he is being cared for so well and I find the staff extremely caring and very friendly. They keep me informed as to his welfare.

Continue to rejoice that my mother resides here. She has the best care we could ever wish for and she is extremely happy here.

After 9 and a half years living at Wansbeck Care Home, I continue to see the dedicated care given to my aunt from all the staff who always meet and embrace her personal needs. Despite her frailty and progressive dementia, they still ensure she is able to enjoy life be it from the happy approach of the carers, the food and treats. She enjoys or simply being involved in daily activities where appropriate. On my weekly visit, she always appears happy and content.

This is a very happy care home.
